Founded in 1870 in Leipzig, Mey & Edlich is the oldest, still active mail-order business in Germany. “Nearly 12 years ago, our brand was given a significant relaunch thanks to a new, young team that took over the leadership,” says Thomas Meurer, media spokesman at Mey & Edlich. “In addition to our online shop, our customers enjoy the tactile experience of our monthly magazine. ed shoes, the customers really appreciate the little specialties.“For instance, our fine liberty prints on silky soft shirts, which get an update every season. Or our frock coat with a print of an original advert from the early years of Mey & Edlich,” says Laura Aileen Schäfer, buyer at Mey & Edlich. When asked what should not be missing from a man’s wardrobe in winter 2019, Schäfer gives a confident answer: “The suit is now a mix of well-known patterns on new textiles. The creative director suit, for example, comes with a bold houndstooth pattern. Its cotton jersey is refined with high-tech fibre, so that the
bi-elastic suit stays in form. The Broken Suit, a combination of different patterns for jacket and trousers, is equally fashionable.” Outside of the business world, her fashion tip is a parka with functional details integrated into the design, such as reflective strips or big pockets. Coloured jackets are another huge trend. Furthermore, she is pleased about the return of traditional and reliable fabrics such as cord and flannel.
