All of Gigaset’s products are tested for quality with the same intensity - from cordless phones to smart phones.
The first smartphone made in Germany Gigaset can look back proudly over a history of roughly 170 years, but those times where it was only known for cordless telephones are long gone. Innovation and sustainability are at the core of the company, and always have been. Over the decades, Gigaset has helped shape, develop and improve telecommunications. Design, quality and usability take centre stage here. Gigaset’s newest innovative coup is the very first smartphone completely produced in Germany. TEXT: MARILENA STRACKE I PHOTOS: GIGASET
Gigaset is a true expert in its field, and proud to fall under the banner of ‘Made in Germany’. Initially closely linked with Siemens, it has been continuously developing the field of private and corporate telecommunications for decades. The product range began with cordless telephones but today it includes smart home solutions, products for professional communications and now even the very first smartphone exclusively made in Germany. 18 | Issue 76 | July 2019
Aside from the common and timely modernisations it has gone through, the corporate philosophy hasn’t changed much. The design is still based on the clear, reduced Bauhaus-style and the initial credo also still applies, as from material to sustainability, top quality standards are always adhered to. Usability forms the third important pillar of the corporate philosophy, because the easy and comprehensible use of all Gigaset equipment remains key.
“For historical reasons, Gigaset is in particular renowned for its DECT cordless telephones,” Raphael Dörr, SVP of corporate communications and investor relations at Gigaset, explains. “That’s our largest product and revenue area. In this field, Gigaset is Europe’s market leader and one of the top five manufacturers internationally. A key difference of Gigaset to other producers and providers is the ‘Made in Germany’-approach. The entire value is created in Germany.” Departure to new product areas Since 2012, Gigaset has been gradually expanding its portfolio with three new product areas. One is the field of professional communications solutions for small and medium-sized companies. This includes desk and cordless telephones as well as scalable single and multicell systems.
