CSMM – THE EFFECT OF RESILIENT ARCHITECTURE
"Our basic architectural approach is to achieve the optimum with minimal intervention and effort", explains architect and managing director Malte Tschörtner, “this applies above all to revitalization projects for existing structures, which now make up the majority of our project list.” CSMM sees the future of architecture in the adaptive reuse of existing buildings: “We believe in resilient buildings which can extend both their lifespan and usability, maximise their functionality and minimise their environmental impact.” For office architecture in particular, the way to get there is through New Work – an omnipresent term nowadays, as firms and companies try and coax their employees back to the office since hybrid work has become the norm in modern work models. Malte Tschörtner studied in both Munich and Milan and initially gained several years of experience in large architectural firms before deciding to dedicate himself to his own field as an architect. managing partner of CSMM together with Timo Brehme, Sven Bietau and Reiner Nowak. increasingly important role in the analysis phase. The processing of data on user needs and requirements for the building can thus be accelerated and refined right from the start and provide a more complete picture of the planning objective." Sustainable building and, most significantly, adaptive reuse concepts are currently at the top of the CSMM planning list: Negotiations with the municipal authorities of Berlin and Munich concerning large-scale revitalization projects are underway this very minute. "For us architects, the focus lies with the spectrum of future users and the effect that architectural spaces have on us all," explains Malte Tschörtner.
