The legendary Bavarian King Ludwig II, who often visited Badersee with his mother and spent carefree days here, was enchanted by the lake and its surroundings. The 'Mermaid of Lake Badersee', which bears the features of the legendary dancer Lola Montez, a lover of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, still lies in the lake today.
