Idea & Illustrations by Gustavo Mazali

The world was perfect, but needed one thing Some who could jump and dance and sing God made one man and one woman with His loving care And gave Adam and Eve a garden to share Genesis 1:26-31

8

Each night God would walk with His children a while With laughter and joy and one happy smile

9

There were plenty of trees from which they could eat There were small sour berries and cherries so sweet There was fruit from one tree God said, “Don’t even try If you eat from it, you will most certainly die” The snake did not care about God’s commands He had something evil and cunningly planned Eve was tricked by the snake and ate fruit from the tree Adam ate too - the snake watched it with glee Matthew 28

10

God’s heart was broken, sending them off of His land But had always in mind His salvation plan

11

As we have seen, it didn’t take long For Adam and Eve to do what was wrong Years passed by and the world was a mess They said “No!” to God and to evil “Yes!” This made God angry and so very sad But there was one man who made His heart glad “Noah, build an ark!” one day said God “I will save you and yours from a mighty flood” Genesis 6:5-22

12

Noah trusted in God and started to labor Although he was scorned and mocked by his neighbor

13

Once safe in the ark, God closed the door Forty days and nights, it rained, it poured When will it be over? Came Noah to think Then he saw that the waters had started to sink At long last on dry land, their hearts filled with joy God had been with each girl and been with each boy The animals marched out in one happy row Then they praised God for His “promise rainbow Genesis 7-8

14

God’s promise to Noah was hard to miss “Never again a flood like this!”

15

Jacob sent his sons to Egypt for grain They had no food, there had been no rain They did not recognize their own little brother In fact they had thought he was quite another Joseph was harsh, he said they were spies “You say you are brothers, but is this all lies? Joseph knew who they were and he wanted to know If they felt bad for their actions, a long time ago Genesis 42:1-22

36

The brothers were sad and said in low voice “Because we sold Joseph, we did have a choice 37

Then later one day Joseph told them at last, “I’m your brother, the one that you sold in the past Sold me off to a traveling merchant’s caravan All the while it was part of God’s mighty plan” “You meant to harm me; God meant it for good. Bring back my father, now I ask that you would Please stay here in Egypt and make it your own I’m grateful to God for the mercy He’s shown” Genesis 45

38

Their hearts were all softened and mended And the hate for their brother now ended

39

And then it happened when some time had gone The people forgot what Joseph had done Along came a Pharaoh who sat on the throne Who made children of Jacob to be slaves that he owned One mother decided to save her boy So precious was he and brought her such joy A basket she made; it floated a while ‘Was found by a princess, there on the Nile Exodus 1:1-2:10

40

She named him Moses and had no idea: God would use him greatly, in spite of his fear 41

When at long last they came to the land they would take They met strong walls of stone, which no one could break “Walk around the city,” said God, “shh- no sound! But on day seven SHOUT! Watch it fall to the ground!” Joshua 6

58

Jericho was the first fight of many The foes did not win, not one, not any

59

When Jesus was twelve, there was a big feast They would have a grand time, for some days at least After the feast, they all traveled back His family lost sight of Jesus, thought He’d follow their track In the temple came Jesus, asking some questions Were the teachers amazed at all His suggestions! Soon found by His parents with men they called “wise” Asking, “Why did You stay here? That wasn’t so nice!” Luke 2:41-52

72

Jesus replied, “This is where I should stay! But He did as they asked, and did not disobey

73

People brought kids to Jesus to touch The disciples, however, thought: “This is too much!” They started to push the children away “Don’t bother the Master, now be on your way!” When Jesus saw this, it made Him quiet mad “Don’t stop the children, this makes My heart sad! Mark 10:13-16

92

“Children belong to My Kingdom, that’s right!” Jesus then blessed them with all of His might

93

“Look at the flowers - so beautifully dressed Don’t go around worried and hopelessly stressed! If God dresses the flowers, which dry up in air He will give you the clothing that you need to wear” “Look at the bird, it sows not, neither reaps Yet God in His hands, the bird safely still keeps Seek first God’s kingdom and His will for your life And your time on this earth, will be filled with less strife” Matthew 6:25-34

94

“God in heaven hears when you pray Wherever you are, wherever you stay” 95

To Jerusalem came Jesus on a young donkey’s back The coats of the people were laid down in His track They shouted with joy, “Hail, David’s Son!” They did not understand what had just begun Matthew 21:1-11
