Inspired by the beloved films, Anastasia transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.
With its opulent settings, dazzling costumes, and a soaring score including the song favorites from the hit animated film, “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December,” Anastasia is the spectacular new musical about discovering who you are and defining who you ’ re meant to be.

During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in Russia, the Romanov family held a position of high aristocracy. The last
Romanov emperor was Czar Nicholas II, who ruled between 1894 and his forcible abdication in March 1917. Shortly after his coronation in 1894, Czar Nicholas II wed Princess Alix of Hesse, a duchy in the German Empire. Alix, later known as Alexandra Feodorovna, was the granddaughter of British monarch Queen Victoria. Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia were the four daughters Nicholas and Alexandra had; Alexei was the only son.
was inherited by many members of Queen Victoria's family.) The Russian economy was severely harmed by World War I, and there was widespread government corruption. To overthrow the czar, moderates joined forces with the radical Bolshevik revolutionaries More than 300 years of Romanov rule came to an end on March 15, 1917, when Nicholas II finally renounced the throne after years of unrest. The Romanov family was placed under house arrest in Siberia and then later executed in July of 1918. There were false rumors that Anastasia had escaped, which spread for nearly a century. Her remains were found

In the summer of 1995, Milk and Honey Ministries (an arm of Sunrise) went to Russia to hand out Bibles. This was our 2nd summer there. We rented the soccer stadium in a town on Yaroslavl (about 6 hrs. by train North of Moscow) to do Gospel crusades for 3 nights. This was just one year after the fall of the Soviet Union; people were excited to hear the Gospel and even SEE a Bible much less to OWN one for themselves.
On the first night of the crusade, we gave out Gospel of John pamphlets. It caused quite a stir. So much so, that a passerby police officer stopped and helped hold off the crowds so we could hand the booklets out in an orderly way. He stayed afterward, and I tried to talk with him the best that I could. The next night, we were handing out New Testaments. The crowds were even larger! The police officer came back with his wife and children and stood right beside me and helped maintain control in the excitement. The third and last night, we were going to hand out whole Bibles. News spread throughout the city and the crowds started lining up in the early afternoon. There was no way we had enough Bibles for the entire line of people.
I took one of the Bibles and wrote a message for my policeman helper. I included my name and address, as well as specific verses to look up in the Bible. I kept it to give him after the meeting. As expected, the crowd was crazy. People were pushing and shoving and trying to grab if they could. My friend faithfully guarded me and my pallet of Bibles. When it was time for the preaching to begin, he looked so sad to see that there were no Bibles left for him. Imagine his face when I brought out the special one I had saved just for him! He started weeping, and he and his wife just hugged and hugged one another. He said they had always dreamed of seeing a real Bible and now he had one of his own. He was so overcome, he took off his police hat (still with the hammer and sickle emblem on it from the not so distant past) and gave it to me as a "Thank you " . The hat has his initials written in it, as well as his sweat stains. I was so thrilled to have this treasure!
I ended up moving to Yaroslavl just about 4 months later and stayed for 18 months. I was constantly looking out for my friend but never found him again. Over the almost 30 years that have passed, I continue to pray for his salvation and for that special Bible to still be used in Russia somehow.
Today, I am honored to say that my son, Zak Lindsted-Zama, is wearing that exact same hat while singing in this musical! I pulled it out of my treasure box from all my travels and want it to be used for the LORD.
I am asking for all who read this to please pray for my policeman friend in Russia as I have over all these years. His initials are K. A.. I pray I will see him again in heaven someday!
Thank you, Pam
