Every umbrella is bench made, hand-finished and individually registered by skilled craftsmen at our Southern California facility. We use highperformance, marine-grade materials that withstand extreme conditions—from UV-resistant finishes on premium timber to rustproof brass and stainless fittings to commercial-grade canvases that resist mildew and offer superior sun protection.

What makes an exceptional umbrella? We believe an umbrella of the finest quality begins with the finest materials available.
The intrinsic beauty of fine hardwood or solid metal is unmatched. We use only solid timber, aluminum or stainless steel for our frames. All of our wood frames are milled in our own woodshop, and all of our metal frames are fabricated by local craftsmen who meet our stringent standards.
Our hubs are constructed from hardwood, aluminum, stainless steel or brass. Our arm connectors are custom fabricated in stainless steel or brass.The difference in hardware quality is immediately apparent when compared to mass-produced alternatives.
Every canopy is created in our sewing workroom where our team of seamstresses ensure that no detail is overlooked. Consew® industrial sewing machines, Gore® Tenara® thread, and 100% solution-dyed awning fabrics are used to produce canopies that will delight for years.
Our Southern California headquarters is the home of our state-of-the-art production facility. The average tenure of our production employees exceeds fifteen years. The highest quality materials are handcrafted by experienced, invested individuals, and this commitment to excellence is evident in every umbrella we create.

For custom color requests, we have a color specialist on staff who sources fabrics from mills in France, Italy, Germany, Austria and Spain. When clients began asking for Paseo quality in grander proportions, we didn’t simply scale up the existing design. The XL required thoughtful re-engineering to handle the increased demands of a larger canopy. The center pole increases to a substantial 2.5 inches in diameter, while the frame components are strengthened proportionally throughout to ensure the same smooth, reliable performance Paseo is known for.
The signature easy open-close system scales up beautifully, thanks to four marine-grade stainless steel ball bearing pulleys paired with high-performance nylon cord. This ensures effortless operation even at this impressive size.

Storage Covers
Your umbrella deserves protection as thoughtful as its design. Our custom storage covers are tailored to fit each Santa Barbara Designs umbrella perfectly, whether you choose standard vinyl or upgrade to a cover crafted from your umbrella’s own fabric.
Use as many or as few as your space requires. Tie them halfway up for partial coverage, let them hang full length for maximum protection, or remove them entirely when not needed. It’s shade that adapts to your day, not the other way around.
An aluminum rod sewn into each cover ensures effortless installation, while an industrial zipper secures everything along the pole’s length. We even offer a specialized version for umbrellas installed in tables, because every detail matters when you’re protecting an investment this significant.
