MILES & MILES OF Multi-use Trails

Discover magnificent views and undisturbed landscapes on some of the best hiking trails in New York State. Visitors will find a robust trail system and numerous parks throughout Chautauqua County that provide yearround opportunities for outdoor fun. Area trails are also used for mountain biking, horseback riding or birdwatching. During the winter months, it is common to see visitors using these trails to snowshoe or cross-country ski.

Rails to Trails

The Chautauqua County Rails to Trails is made up of 17 miles of unused railroad corridors between Sherman and Brocton that have been turned into hiking paths. These trails wind through wetlands, hardwood forests, vineyards and picturesque countrysides and offer visitors plenty of opportunities to see diverse plants, wildlife and more than 170 species of birds.

Chautauqua County Equestrian Trail System

Located in between the towns of Cherry Creek, Charlotte, Sinclairville and Cassadaga in the Northeast corner of Chautauqua County, New York. www.ccetstrails.org

Horseback riding is also permitted on the North Harmony State Forest roads, on the snowmobile trail during the summer season, and on designated horse trails. Access the horse trails by parking on Warner Road at Jasper Park.

Chautauqua County currently has the most groomed miles of fat tire bike trails in all of New York State. Over the last few years, fat tire biking as a winter sport has increased in popularity and is a great way to get outdoors this winter. WESTSIDE AND EASTSIDE Overland Trails

Chautauqua County is home to the Westside and Eastside Overland Trails, two of the longest trails in the region. The Westside Overland trail covers over 24 miles between the villages of Mayville and Panama and allows visitors to trek from the Chautauqua Gorge State Forest to the Pennsylvania border. The Eastside Overland trail, considered one of the county’s premier trails, spans 19 miles from Gerry north to the Town of Arkwright and is known for its hardwoods. Both trails are great for day hikers and long-haul hikers who are interested in traversing the trail from beginning to end over a few days.

Explore Downtown

Stroll through Downtown Jamestown along the Chadakoin River on a five-mile urban trail system. The Jamestown Riverwalk is perfect for walking, biking and rollerblading and connects several parks including Comedy Park, adjacent to the National Comedy Center and McCrea Point Park.
