Cave Sessions 101

Mike: Guests can expect to experience wonder in the natural beauty of 200 millionyear-old crystalline rock in our Salt Caves. Meditative sound and reclining zero gravity chairs induce a sense of calm and wellness. The air in the cave, infused with naturallyantibacterial microparticles of natural salt, helps to open up pore spaces in the lungs resulting in better breathing.

The What & Why of Halotherapy

Pam: Our clients come in regularly for purifying salt therapy, aka Halotherapy Cave Sessions, which eases breathing by infusing the air with tiny pure salt micro-particles. The negatively-charged, ionized salt particles, along with the 84 trace elements and minerals the salt contains, help to clear pollens, viruses, pollutants and toxins in the lungs and nasal passageways.

Well-Seasoned Events

Mike: We host various sound healing, yoga and specialized private events within our 1200 square feet of unique salt cave space. Popular private bookings include bridal showers, special spa days, corporate events, weddings and charity fundraisers. Google recently rented our entire business space for the day to host clients and employees.

Salt Cave Santa Barbara

Say Spaaa

Pam: The spa menu features massage and facial treatments designed to relax and re-energize, including our signature Himalayan salt scrubs, hot salt stone or therapeutic Swedish and Deep Tissue massages. All treatments are enhanced by our signature aromatherapy scents and take place in our serene, ionic treatment rooms, and 45-minute sessions follow all in the Halotherapy cave. Our skin-firming facials include mineral treatments, like our signature Green Tea Himalayan Salt Mask, which soothes, removes impurities, hydrates and re-balances PH.

Where The Breathing is Easy

Nearly a decade ago, Pam and Mike McCaskey imported more than 60 tons of 250 million-year-old Himalayan salt. Next, they found the perfect basement space below State Street in downtown Santa Barbara and proceeded to construct the largest underground crystal salt cave in North America, along with spa treatment facilities and all-things-salty boutique. Salt offers guests the opportunity to unplug, unwind and recharge via a salt cave session or by indulging in one of the many luxurious spa treatments offered at this therapeutic oasis. Here Pam and Mike give us the salty scoop on their one-ofa-kind healing hideaway. Read on to learn about this luxury health boutique's origin story, the healing benefits of this miraculous mineral, and a bit about how these singular and sensational experiences utilize negatively-charged ions to create positive results.

A Vision in Vermont Salt To Go

Pam: All of our body, home and cooking products utilize salt as a primary or secondary ingredient and are hand-crafted in downtown Santa Barbara. The collection of goods in our retail boutique - imported Himalayan salt lamps, massage stones, cooking blocks and other pink salt goods - inspires guests to season their everyday lives with the healing benefits of this pure wonder of the Earth.

Pam: In 2010, during a stay at a Vermont country inn and meditation shop that happened to have a salt room, I had a vision to create a welcoming and nurturing place in Santa Barbara that emphasized holistic health. With a lifelong passion for health and fitness, I studied the benefits of Pink Himalayan Salt. I then convinced my geologist husband, Mike, to import over 60 tons of pink crystalline salt from the famous Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan and created Salt Cave SB.
