HIGHLIGHTS C

ertain anniversaries are considered milestones. At our Annual Homecoming this past November, the SBC of Virginia marked its 20th anniversary as a state convention, which surpassed 700 affiliated churches. The fellowship was rejuvenating and the celebration enlightening as we reflected on our past, our foundation, and our philosophy as a Great Commission coalition. May we now move forward united with a bold commitment to the Great Commission and God’s Word.

Because of our Gospel partnership, churches are being strengthened, Christians are being mobilized, churches are planting churches, and disciples are being made. Our goal is that no church be left behind as we seek to advance the Great Commission. Personally, as I have read and studied the Bible this year, I have noted the numerous times the Apostle Paul mentioned his colaborers, his loved ones in Christ, by name. Paul was not perfect when it came to relationships, friendships, and partnerships, but he did seem to be persistent, purposeful, and prayerful. Acts 18:9-10 provides three points of encouragement: Do not be afraid. Take to heart the exhortation to serve boldly and courageously, regardless of the threats that come. Do not be silent. We are stewards of the Gospel truth: preach the Word, in season and out. You are not alone. We stand together on God’s Word, kneel together as watchmen of the wall, and walk together in the grace and truth of Christ. Not alone! No follower of Christ, no pastor or church leader, no missionary, and no church should try to serve alone. Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel of Christ. Remember that you are not alone. Your brother in Christ,

BRIAN AUTRY Executive Director, SBC of Virginia
