As the old saying goes time and tide do not wa.i.t and so here we are already up to our second issue. As yo~ can see we have not only included the features we oricinally planned but have now expanded to incorporate a Shop and Swap column (you are invited to send your requests in for pu~lication) and a Contributors Corner for tlte rele2se of articles and items of interest for our rendersJ

Several members wrote expressing favorable opinions about our first issue. They considered it informative, interestirg and nicely arranged. No negative reactions were received. We always appreciate any comments, ideas, information and thoughts about banks and collecting because it is only through the pooling and sharing of knowledge and experience that we can all become more aware and astute collectors.

We think tbat this .can be one of.the most interesting areas of our public8tion allowing not only for articles in the more formalized sense but also for general contributions and "gossip" that might he of value to our still bank collectors.

Since our first issue we have had several complimentary comments Rnd hope that you will fir.d this issue even better. l\Tilliam Miller states he collects both stills and mechanicals but has no preference because he likes both. He also enjoys modern banks. He wrot~ "It is a fine day when I receive one bank for my collection-especially one I ·have tried to get for a long time. n Bud Buchardt has 150 still banks, mostly cast, including 10 different elephants, and 6 rabbits. He only retains one size of each example. · Some of his interesting banks are Sitting Rabbit on Dated Base, Grant on Safe, Big Duck, Caunon with Rolling Wheels and the Water Wagon. S.R. Mahan has been collecting over 30 years and has about 120 stills. He favors animals but feels that the General ·Butler Bank "has everything, size, historical significance, scarcity and is so homely it is attractive". ·H.H. Sandidge Jr. is an avid collector with about 180 stills. Continued on Page 2 1
