Jackie MacDonald, our ‘newest’ Project Manager brings with her 25+ years’ experience in the construction field. Many of you may have had the pleasure of working in some capacity with her over the 18 years that she has been with Saywell. During her career, she has garnered a well-earned respect within our industry from both her peers and coworkers Over the years at Saywell, Jackie has worked on a kaleidoscope of projects ranging from renovations, building envelope remediations, hotel renovations, new and renovated commercial and multi-residential
Mom-life mid-career found Jackie preferring the role of Project Coordinator as a better personal life fit. Fast forward 10 years and she was ready to Project Manage again…. or maybe she just got tired of Karl or Sheldon asking her every year if she was ready to get back in the saddle? ��
literally in the house, woman works from home�� Regardless of what got her here…Jack’s back in a big way! She stepped up to manage Saratoga Beach Houses, the Island Highway Popeyes development and she will be taking on the future Qualicum Railway Station.

With over 15 years of experience working in the development and construction arena, Aliesha has the skill-set and proven talents to handle projects of all sizes and complexities. Her experience includes working on multi-million design build teams for high-end developers in Toronto and Calgary, mixed use commercial developments in both urban and rural locations, and multi-unit residential projects in locations all over Vancouver Island. Aliesha's ability to effectively communicate with all levels of development and construction officials, authorities, and stakeholders promotes smooth and productive administrative relations for the duration of the entire project. Complex coordination tasks and detailorientated tracking and logging are handled with the same professionalism and skill. Aliesha is highly motivated and driven and will go above and beyond to ensure client satisfaction for successful project completion.
As our new Office Assistant, Hannah is the face and voice of Saywell Contracting. New to the team, she brings with her many years of administrative and customer service experience and looks forward to taking on this challenging, multi-faceted role. Hannah’s welcoming demeanour makes her the perfect first point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and visitors when they call or step into our office. She is a great team player and enjoys assisting our Project Coordinators and Accounting team in various administrative tasks and is always looking to help where and when she can.
At 16 years old Rob knew he wanted to follow his father's footsteps and pursue a career in construction, his passion for building is multigenerational. After working internationally in the Cayman Islands, Rob returned to Vancouver Island to begin the process of becoming a Gold Seal Certified Superintendent. Becoming a successful Superintendent was only the beginning for Rob. After completing multiple multimillion dollar projects, he started on his leadership path taking on numerous coaching and mentoring courses which granted him the tools necessary to implement a positive team environment on all of his sites. His goal is subtrade synthesis through planning and communication. Turning a new chapter as Construction Manager, Rob has taken on the responsibility of all Saywell projects to come in on-time and on-budget.

Don’t know about funny, but my ds called me Toad as a teenager ’s your biggest fear? Spiders. I mean pathological terrorized by even ones
ou an introvert or extrovert? Actually, I am a Chimera. I adapt to my undings. Often, I talk too much and try to organize everyone, whether want to or not… am quiet, don’t make eye contact, and just wait to be given uctions.

If money was no object, what would you do all day? I would open a small coffee shop that serves breakfast sandwiches all day!

The Residences at Qualicum Station is a development located at the intersection of Village Way and Railway Street in Qualicum Beach. It includes a 5-storey multi-family residential building with adjoining seven 2-storey rowhouses totaling 56 units. These ranges from studio to 3bedroom units, including some 1bedroom accessible suites.
Construction includes castin-place foundations, slab on grade and wood frame construction. The building components include heavy timber elements, Hardie siding, SBS membrane roofing, standing seam metal and asphalt shingle roofing, glazed aluminum curtain wall, vinyl windows and doors.

12,000 SF pre-engineered building located in an industrial park in Parksville, this is one of five projects Saywell Contracting is building for the owner. The space is designed for 8 separate units; however, it can be tailored to meet the needs of one tenant. It has been challenging to clad the building as it is close to the property line but Saywell Contracting along with the steel building installer and the neighbor have been working together collaboratively to provide ample working space.

Nanaimo Innovation Academy is an elementary aged learning facility and this is the second phase of the project we are undertaking. It is a 2storey, wood frame building that will have the ability to take on 16 children and staff with the learning center on main floor and a new residence on the upper floor.

The existing firehall will be demolished and replaced with a new 11,270 SF building in approximately the same location. The new firehall will include prefabricated engineered steel frame construction to post-disaster requirements and includes improved spaces for training and equipment. It will also provide improved indoor air quality with negative pressure ventilation and separation of smoke contaminated surfaces for volunteers’ health and safety. The new firehall is designed to provide future energy savings opportunities with capabilities to add a solar array, water and heat recovery systems, and an EV charging station.
