"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten" BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

Spotlight BY SHELDON SAYWELL The last thing I want is to sound like a broken record but that is difficult because there are only so many ways to express my gratitude for all that you do as part of the Saywell Team. We have been living and working under the strangest and most extreme conditions that many of us have ever come up against, and when the target moves as far and often as it has during Covid, it’s a testament to our team that we are not only still standing, but thriving.

Our work is not a small part of our lives, we are with each other as much as we are with our families at home, and dismissing the connection would be flawed. We cannot leave behind the losses we have suffered, such as sick family and friends, our own mental health and the loss of those we love. I’ve spent some time contemplating why it is that our team can come through as well as we have, and it comes down to one point: caring. We care enough about one another to pick up the slack when our teammates need it, and are confident that we will have it reciprocated should the time come. There is no resentment harbored when someone takes time for health or family reasons, that’s caring. Caring about more than ourselves and seeing the bigger picture. Saywell is, and has always been a “big-picture” company because no one can be successful on their own. We need to build each other up to where we are all achieving our own version of success. I’m so happy to be able to do that with you around me. I am very proud to have you with me on this team, and care about you, your family and your success. Take some time to really be in the moment with friends, family and whoever else to may spend some time with over the holiday break.

Feature Project Newcastle Phase 4 Team Members Project Manager: Sheldon Saywell Superintendent: David Robinson Project Coordinator: Holly Rivet Project Start: May 2021 Project Completion: November 2021 Value: $1.2 Million Location: Nanaimo Project Type: Renovation Newcastle Phase 4 was the final phase of this multiyear project. Upon completion of the first phase several years ago, the owners were so pleased with the experience they had with Saywell, that the Strata made the decision to forego putting the remaining 3 phases out for tender and work solely with Saywell. A true testimonial to how we treat our clients. The project consisted of removing existing waterproofing membrane and paving stones on the balconies and replacing with new SBS and concrete pavers. Job well done Dave R and crew!
