FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING The Functional Movement Screening (FMS) is a tool used to identify asymmetries which result in functional movement deficiencies. FMS aims to identify imbalances in mobility and stability during seven functional movement patterns. The idea is to individualize each workout program based on the person’s weak link with attempts to alleviate them by assigning corrective exercises. When this is accomplished, the individual will have greater movement efficiency, which will lead to improved performance and hopefully a decrease in injury potential. To get your Functional Movement Screening, contact YMCA Healthy Living Coordinator Krystal Clark in the Wellness Center or email her at Krystal@saymca.org.

MONDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY

VETERANS’ COFFEE

In 1844, 22-year-old George Williams founded the first Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), a refuge of Bible study and prayer for young men seeking escape from the hazards of life on the streets of London.

All Veterans, as well as anyone interested in meeting with, shaking hands and thanking the Vets for their service to our country, are invited to attend. The meetings are held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm every second Wednesday of the month in the Multi-Purpose room. Coffee and donuts are free! If you have any memorabilia or military articles to show, please bring them. They will be returned. Please attend! Contact the Front Desk for questions. Free for Members and Non-Members.

The Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA carries on the tradition of non-denominational Bible study that is free and open to the public every Monday morning at 9:00 am in the MultiPurpose Room. Bring your Bible and a friend. This hourlong study is led by YMCA Volunteer Chaplain Allen Jones Jr.

FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING A powerful paradigm shift in fitness development: Functional Movement Screening (FMS) is a tool used to identify asymmetries which result in functional movement deficiencies. The FMS aims to identify imbalances in mobility and stability during seven fundamental movement patterns. Once these deficiencies have been identified, a program of corrective exercises is then developed with the goal of preventing musculoskeletal injuries. Learn more about Screening on page 9.
