MESSAGE FROM JOE DAMIANO

Sax Team, This has been an eventful last few months. On behalf of all our partners, I am thrilled to announce Sax’s successful addition of David Weiss CPA, PLLC, headquartered in New York City, effective July 31.

This is an exciting time for both our firms. With over 100 years of collective experience, the combination of Sax and David Weiss will strengthen our presence and capabilities in the NYC marketplace and expand our tax expertise.

I ask that you extend a warm welcome to the 3 partners and 16 staff members who now join our Sax family. The teams are working diligently to ensure that a seamless transition can be expected. The team at David Weiss CPA will eventually join us at our brand-new NYC Sax office space, and we look forward to working together towards our common goals under the Sax banner.

Sax’s mission is to grow organically, as well as through strategic mergers with like-minded partners to become a Top 50 firm in the next 5 years. Our past, present and future alliances are established with great care as we make sure to identify firms who align with our service philosophies, our team culture and commitment to client service. We found a terrific match with David Weiss CPA, one of the leading firms in the tri-state area, and we are very excited about joining forces.

In the spirit of growth, I want to once again recognize those promoted on July 1. These individuals have done a fantastic job living out our core values daily, and meeting our high standards of client service and productivity. They have demonstrated great contributions to our firm and are deserving of recognition.

Please join me in congratulating these team members on their achievements, and wishing them the best of luck as they settle into their new positions.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Summer Picnic, and for those who could not make it – you were missed! We are very grateful to resume our firm outings after two years of the pandemic. It was refreshing to spend time with so many new faces, see your growing families, and celebrate with our co-team members.

Our Summer Picnic and other firm-held events are not only a way to take some deserved time off, but as we resume growth and expand our team, they are a way we can stay true to our roots as one Sax family. Gathering at our Parsippany headquarters, especially with our remote team members and families from across the country, provides us with a way to connect and witness our team in full. We look forward to hosting more of these events in appreciation for all that you accomplish day in and day out for the firm.

Mariann Boulos Tax Associate Pennington | 05.16.22

Mariann graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance. She joins the Sax team as a Tax Associate.

Fun fact: Ashley has travelled to 5 continents and loves the outdoors!

Vilma Condori Accounting Support Associate Parsippany | 05.16.22

Vilma received her Bachelors in Business Management from William Paterson University, and plans to finish her Master's degree. Vilma started as an Accounting Support Associate.

Fun fact: Vilma is very interested in astrology and learning more about herself and others.

Drew Kretz A & A Associate Remote | 06.01.22

Drew received his BS in Accounting from Robert Morris University and his Masters from East Carolina University. Drew joins the Sax team as an A&A Associate. .

Fun fact: Drew was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserve in 2021 after 9 years with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Jovial Omagor Senior A&A Associate Remote | 06.13.22

Gladys attended William Paterson University where she has received her BS in Finance and a BA in Economics. She joins the Sax team as a Retirement Associate Intern.

Jovial attended and graduated from the Texas Southern University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. She joins the Sax team as a Senior A&A Associate.

Fun fact: Jovial loves to travel!

Ryan Lange IT Support Specialist NYC | 06.21.22

Taliyah joins the Sax team as an Administrative Assistant to the NYC office.

Dev Joshi Business Services Intern Parsippany | 06.27.22

Ryan attended Stevens Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering. He also has a concentration in Computer Architecture & Electronics and Embedded Systems. Ryan joins the Sax team as an IT Support Specialist. .

Fun fact: Ryan has a pet hedgehog named Chief, who is 4 years old.

Dev attends Rutgers University where he will receive his Bachelor's Degree in Finance. He joins the Sax team as a Business Services Intern.

Fun fact: Dev recently got a puppy named Solo.

Matthew Warren Senior A&A Associate Remote | 06.27.22

Matthew attended Flager College where he received a BA in Accounting. He joins the Sax team as a Senior A&A Associate.

Fun fact: Matthew has seven cats.

Michael Penberg Senior Tax Manager NYC | 07.11.22

Michael attended St. Joseph's College where he received a Bachelor's in Mathematics and Finance. He joins the Sax team as a Senior Tax Manager.

Fun fact: Michael just became a first time dad 8 months ago!

Howard Liu Tax Director Parsippany | 06.27.22

Howard graduated from Queens College of CUNY where he received a Bachelors degree in Accounting + Information System. He joins the Sax team as a Tax Director.

Fun fact: Howard enjoys watching Korean drama.

Mohamed Elsheshtawy Senior A&A Associate NYC | 07.08.22

Mohamed attended The American University in Cairo and Baruch College, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting and a minor in Economics. He joins the Sax team as a Senior A&A Associate.

Zara Zulqarnain A&A Associate Parsippany | 07.11.22

Amanda Klein A&A Intern Parsippany | 07.11.22

Zara graduated from the University of Phoenix where she received her Bachelors in Accounting. She joins the Sax team as an A&A Associate.

Amanda attended Caldwell University where she is studying for an Accounting and History degree. She joins the Sax team as an A&A Intern.

Fun fact: Zara has a checklist of places to hike, in each state!

Fun fact: Amanda is a history major and in four honor societies!

Sener attended Lehman College where he received her degree in Accounting. He joins the Sax team as a CSA in the NYC office.

Kathleen joins the Sax team as an Administrative Assistant for the New York office.

Fun fact: Sener is a Knicks fan.

Lisa Bushur-Harris Senior Tax Manager Remote| 07.18.22

Lisa attended Northcentral University where she received her PhD in Business and Accounting, as well as a Masters of Accounting from the University of Missouri. She joins the Sax team as a Senior Tax Manager.

Michael Holmstrom Senior A&A Manager NYC | 07.18.22

Michael graduated from Farmingdale State College where he received a Bachelors of Science, and a Masters in Accounting from SUNY Old Westbury. He joins the Sax team as a Senior A&A Manager.

Fun fact: Michael is a goalie for roller hockey, and a former drummer in a punk band!

Fun fact: Lisa and her husband travel Missouri State Parks in their RV!

Great Cards Matthew Goldstein went above and beyond the call of duty on a matter regarding a PPP loan application submitted by the client. The client made several mistakes in the application. Matt was able to not only clean up the documents to submit to the SBA for review but was able to articulate to our client the errors in his previous submission. To top it off, the client received a notice of review on April 21st and did not forward the notice to us until the 29th of April. Matt was previously scheduled on another client matter. He found the time and put in the effort to accomplish the task on time and at a high level of service.

Dan Davidson did an outstanding job during tax season and he continues to impress. Dan always goes above and beyond, is a quick learner, and is an asset to the team. His work product and the smart questions that he poses while working on engagements are impressive. Dan has been a great addition to the team!

the 4Miler benefiting st. joseph's children's hospital We are so happy to announce that our 4 MILER at Garret Mountain Reservation run/walk event to support St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital will be held on Saturday, October 1. As always, 100% of the dollars we raise goes to the hospital’s Child Life Department to provide high-impact therapies that help mitigate the negative effects of treatment and hospitalization for pediatric patients with chronic, life-threatening or terminal illness.

Our firm goal is to raise $70,000 for the children at St. Joseph’s – and Sax will match every employee donation!
