The Teatro Oficina is a theater company and cultural center located in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It was founded in 1958 by the Brazilian theater director and playwright José Celso Martinez Corrêa, and it is known for its avant-garde productions and political activism. This project was about a model making of The Teatro Oficina.

Power Over Water
This project created to display the effect of political power on our relationship to water. The wealthy, with their connections to political power, have an easier route to get to water. Whereas the poor have a more difficult route to get to water. In this project the two routes are further contrasted with lush green vegetaton on the wealthy side. To make this project relevent to todays politics there is a wall seperating the poor peoples access to water that is a visual and physical metaphor.

SKY & EARTH RELATIONSHIP DIAGRAM SECTION bb’
This collage explains the time in egypt when 160 years ago the king decided to fill the nile. the people who lived in that area didn’t agree because they used the water from the nile for survival. eventually parts of the nile were filled to create space for travelers and tourists, in spite of those who lived there. this is why the nubian people lost their land as they did not have the political power to keep their land.

Villa Busk, with its organic yet geometric shapes rising from the land scape, is derived from the architecture of the 1960’s use of raw materials with their original shapes and forms. It looks like a more Brutalist versions of the works of Bruce Golf, an unusual architect from the 60’s who built homes with a combination of angular forms and natural material. When combined with a castle like tower and an imposing elevation on one side, the homes has a timeless quality. Part of that timeless quality is surprising as the home is constructed on various structures and rooflines that don’t necessarily correspond to each other.

The Vertical House

In this project I was experimenting with making a small model as the basis for a large building. I was interested in the complexity of stairs, as I have a fascination with towers. I then created a building in Rhino using my stair model as the core feature. It has been important since the 19th Century to build upwards, saving space and allowing higher density.
