The Savannah Yacht Club isa family-oriented Club dedicated to member delight throughexceptional services &qualityfacilities.
Itrustyouhadamemorableexperienceatthisyear'sCommodore's Reception. It wasagreatevening, thankstoourSYCstaffwhomadethenighttruly special. Ialso wanttothankmywife, Susan, forhereffortsinassistingthestaffwithplanninghersupportbehindthescenesmadeabigdifference,and I amverygrateful. TheSunsetBar& Grillisinfullswing,and Iencourageyoutotakefull advantageof thisfantasticnew venue. Themenu featuresmany fresh anddeliciousoptionsincludingpizza!
Thisprojectwasyearsin themaking, and I wanttorecognize thetremendous teameffort thatbroughtittolifeincludingJimmy Smithand histeamatJTVS Constructionfortheirtop-notch work, andGeneral ManagerMichael Ryan andour amazing staff. Theirattentiontodetail and hardworkensuredeverythingcame together, ensuring asmoothopening.

• FreshThymeLeaves:1-2teaspoons,chopped

• Black Pepper:totaste
• Preheatyourovento400°F (200°C).
• CherryTomatoes:1 cup, halved
• CreamCheese:8oz, softened
• Mayo: ½cup
• FreshBasil:¼cup,chopped(plusmoreforgarnish)
• Grated ParmesanCheese:½cup
• ShreddedLow-Moisture FreshMozzarellaCheese:1cup
• Slicethetopofftheheadofgarlictoexposethecloves. Drizzlewith1tablespoonofoliveoilandwrapitinfoil.
• Roastintheovenforabout30-35minutes, untiltheclovesaresoftandcaramelized. Letitcool, thensqueeze theclovesoutoftheirskinsandmashthem.
• Inaskillet, heat 1 tablespoonofextravirginoliveoilovermediumheat.
•Addthedicedshallotsandsauteuntiltheyaretranslucentand fragrant, about3-4minutes.
• Seasonwithapinchofkoshersaltandblackpepper. Removefromheat andletcoolslightly.
• Inamixing bowl, combinethesoftenedcreamcheese, mayo, roasted garlic, sauteedshallots,chopped thyme, andgrated Parmesancheese. Mixuntilsmooth.
• Foldinthehalved cherry tomatoes, choppedbasil, andshreddedmozzarellacheese.Adjustseasoningwith koshersaltand black pepperas needed.
• Spreadthemixtureevenlyintoabakingdishorskilletandbakefor20-25 minutes (oruntil thedipis bubblyand goldenontop).
• Garnishwithadditionalbasil, andservewithcrackers, toastedbread, orvegetablesticks.

InApril, theSavannahYachtClubhostedtheMelges 15regatta.Thisdouble-handedclasshasbecomeoneof themostpopularandgrowingclassesinthe countryand wehad10 boatswith20sailorsparticipating. Fiveteams representedtheSavannahYachtClub.
Theconditionswereverylightduringthetwodaysof racingandwewereabletocompletesixraces.
Thewinnersof theregattawithanoutstanding performancewereCharlieUsherandPaytonBrown. Completingthepodiuminthirdplacewasanothercrew fromtheclub(ShaneMcCarthyandIanPinholster).
Iwouldliketotakethisopportunitytothankallthe members andSYCstaffwhocollaboratedtomakethis fantasticregattapossible.
