WHAT'S THE BEST ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF? Life is a marathon, not a road race. Try not to do too much too quickly, and try to stop and smell the roses as often as possible. Always treat everyone with kindness, and continue to show them compassion as you always felt you would when you got into medicine.
WHAT'S THE BEST DISH TO BRING TO A COOKOUT? Knowing that someone will be bringing the big cheeseburgers, I would probably add a healthy salad to the mix — one that includes mixed greens, broccoli sprouts, zucchini, carrots, orange and yellow peppers, and other crunchy vegetables. I have tried to become a little healthier with my eating habits through the years, but a nice bottle of red wine would be in my other hand.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO SPEND A WEEKEND? I really enjoy spending time around the house and with my family. We get outside a good bit and love to play golf together. My kids even have my wife caddying for them in local tournaments, which is always fun to watch.

WHAT'S THE BEST ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF? The same advice I would give my current self: Work hard, but also try to relax and enjoy the ride. Don’t be so focused on the destination, otherwise you’ll miss the important things along the way. Easier said than done, but it’s something I’m now trying to be more cognizant of.
WHAT'S THE BEST DISH TO BRING TO A COOKOUT? I’m into having a variety of side dishes at a barbecue, and I’m kind of a traditionalist, so I would say something like baked beans, honey cornbread, or spicy coleslaw. Also, it goes without saying, but beer is a necessity.
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO SPEND A WEEKEND? I prefer a chill-mode weekend over a busy one. To me, nothing is more perfect than hanging out with my wife Elyssa, daughter Sydney, son Matthew, and mini Labradoodle Sonny on our boat out on the beautiful waterways around Savannah.
