My Genesis

by Franklin Radcliff

In my beginning there was darkness and night

And then like a divine word there entered a light

The brightness of this light did change my life

No longer is it pain, toil, and strife

And though the light has passed and is gone

A gentle warm glow remains and lingers on

This glow is the hope of a light lived out right

With time it may grow to become something bright

So that I may be good when I enter your sight

It is this hope that makes my being a little more bright
