Rented Out by Felicia Ford

Rented Out

My house is growing quieter

Now that it's free of men;

The corner that you occupied

Is vacant once again.

No man's land. I call it.

You haven t seemed to notice

Your eviction - my release,

But I've gently led you out

And closed the door I am at peace.

You're on the step now, bags and all.

Safe travels, my old friend.

May your future home be blessed.

But be happy when you think of

How you stayed here as a guest.

And now.'

I'll change the sheets and clear the table,

Open windows, mow the grass.

I will make this little house of mine

Clean. For time will pass.

And then, maybe then. I'll feel like renting out again.
