Apathetic Pines by Milo Hurley

Apathetic Pines

The pines are still as stones.

As far as I can see

On hills away from me,

I am alone.

But maybe I am not,

If I personify

These trees that touch the sky.

A little thought

Will have them holding hands

Beneath the violet gray.

I'm sure they must be gay

In all their bands.

But I am not a tree,

And so must care to live.

Pines never care to give

A thought for me.
