Stargazer

Lying on the grass

the earth scent

wafts about me

My eyes,

pressed wide and

dilated against the dark,

sweep across the fields of space

Earth's scent fades,

the ground falls away,

and I melt into the sky,

and I melt into the sky, reach out a tentative hand,

and touch the fingertips of God.
