Take the next step

In the UBC BCom program you’ll meet some of the brightest people from across the globe—an extraordinary group of students, faculty, and alumni who are creative, enthusiastic, supportive, and motivated to make positive impact. Here are a few ways your community will play an important role in your experience at UBC Sauder.

The Spark

Your experience kicks off with The Spark, an orientation program for BCom students, dedicated to helping you have fun and make connections with new students and upper-year student leaders. Cohorts

During your first year, you’ll be placed in a small cohort group with 30 other students. You’ll take the same classes together in your first semester, allowing you to easily find study partners and new friends. These connections will be strengthened as you participate in a series of events and activities with your cohort and upper-year students that support your adjustment to university.

Commerce Undergraduate Society (CUS)

The CUS is the largest business school student organization in Canada, providing a wide range of services and clubs that cater to students personally, socially, professionally, and academically. The services and events include operating industry and topic-specific clubs, conferences with themes from sustainability to personal branding, and social events, such as the annual ski trip and sports tournaments.

Faculty

Our faculty is invested in your learning and growth, and are part of your transition to university life from day one. In addition to teaching, our faculty members also serve as coaches and mentors in many of our unique programs and extracurriculars, encouraging and guiding you to help nurture your passions.

Alumni

You will have many opportunities to meet alumni. Whether they’re sharing industry expertise in the classroom, providing mentorship, coaching participants in case competitions, networking at events, or holding informational interviews and site visits, the alumni community is a part of your student experience.

“Some of the most valuable learning opportunities at UBC happen outside of the classroom. The Commerce Undergraduate Society exists to help you find these opportunities and succeed personally, professionally, and academically.”

Kristian Oppenheim Interim President, Commerce Undergraduate Society (CUS)
