Car park changes at RSH Following feedback from colleagues and patients, we will be making some minor changes to the parking allocation at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. These changes will come into effect from Tuesday 1 September and will help us make the best use of available parking on the site.

The changes are: Staff car park 4 will become a public car park (Zone 1).

The current Zone 1 public car park will become staff car park 4.

The Purple Zone will move from behind Stretton House to the car park near the Copthorne building.

We have also updated the additional information sheet for patient letters for those attending appointments at RSH. You can find the updated sheet on the intranet.

EV charging at RSH If you use one of the electric vehicle charging points at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH), please remember that you must either email the Car Parking team or speak to one of the car park attendants on the day you are charging your vehicle. This is an important step as it ensures your vehicle is correctly recorded and covered while using the charging facilities.

PRH Park & Ride – new, simpler process We have introduced a new and simpler process for accessing the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) Park & Ride service. Staff can now register on the Arriva app using any email address and then email the P&R team (sath.prhparkandride@nhs.net) to request a ticket.

We will send the ticket code directly to the email address used to contact us, and staff can enter this code into the Arriva app themselves. We can now also offer a one-day ticket for staff that normally work at RSH but may need to attend PRH for training or a meeting. If you are using this option, please do not activate the code till the day it is to be used. This updated process is much quicker and more straightforward with requests submitted between Monday and Friday usually receiving a ticket code within 24 hours.

Bus updates coming this autumn Looking ahead, there are some exciting improvements planned for the autumn. The Ward Block will be introduced as a new stop on the Park & Ride route, making the service even more convenient for staff and visitors. This change will coincide with the installation of new electronic bus shelters across the site, providing live timetable information to help passengers plan their journeys. In addition, the No. 11 (Shrewsbury-Gains Park) service will begin stopping at the Treatment Centre, further improving access to the hospital. We expect these additional stops to be available in the coming months.

A reminder...

We kindly ask all staff to contact the Car Parking team by email for any parking-related enquiries whenever possible. Using email allows us to keep our telephone lines free for patients and members of the public who may need immediate assistance.

If you receive a Parking Charge Notice (PCN), please ensure you follow the official appeals process first before contacting the Car Parking team. This allows your appeal to be processed correctly and helps us assist you more effectively if further support is needed.

Finally, if a member of the public approaches you with a query about parking, please avoid giving advice unless you are certain it is up to date. Parking arrangements can change, so the best approach is to direct them to one of our car park attendants, ask them to contact the Car Parking team, or signpost them to the Trust website where the latest parking information and guidance can be found. This helps ensure patients and visitors receive accurate, consistent advice every time.
