Parking Newsletter

December 2025

Thank you for making a difference this year ANPR cameras and payment machines are now live at RSH, PRH and William Farr House. This is an important step to help manage access to our car parks and ensure patients and shiftworking colleagues can get on site safely. Thank you for everything you’ve done to ease traffic by finding alternative ways to travel – car sharing, using Park & Ride, cycling or walking to work. Your efforts make a real difference and we’re very grateful. We know spaces are limited and we’re always looking at ways to support staff and patients. But we still need more colleagues to consider alternative options for getting on site.

Financial recovery and parking We all have a role in helping the Trust achieve financial balance. Reinstating staff parking charges was not an easy decision, but it was the right one. The Parking Team is working hard to provide the best parking options for staff and patients while ensuring costs are covered. Any surplus income from parking charges goes directly towards funding vital frontline services for our patients.

A note to our cyclists Thank you to the 385 staff members who regularly cycle to work – whether that’s one day a week or every day. Your commitment to sustainable travel makes a real difference: Reducing our carbon footprint Helping ease car park pressures Promoting healthier lifestyles We’re also celebrating the 11% of cyclists who use e-bikes, proving that distance or hills don’t have to be a barrier to choosing two wheels over four. Your efforts help create a greener, healthier and more accessible workplace for everyone. The Trust is proud of your dedication and grateful for the positive impact you make each day.

Check your registration details on the GroupNexus portal Please take a moment to check your car registration details on the GroupNexus portal. If your details are incorrect, you may receive a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) because the ANPR cameras won’t recognise your vehicle. This includes simple errors such as entering an O instead of a 0 (zero). Remember – even if you have free parking, you still need to be registered on the GroupNexus portal so the ANPR cameras can recognise your car.

Parking enforcements No one wants a parking ticket at Christmas. Please make sure you only park in staff car parks over the festive period unless you’re on site as a patient or visitor and paying at the machines. Check the parking guidelines on the intranet before you park to avoid receiving a Parking Charge Notice (PCN). If you do receive a PCN and want to appeal, follow the instructions on the back of the ticket.
