Update on changes to purple zone parking RSH

23 May 2025

From Tuesday 27 May there will be a reduction to the number of spaces available in the purple zone car park, this is to allow work to begin on the new Modular Wards (see pic)

We will have a reduction in space in the short term, but these spaces may return at a later date.

We have reviewed the data from the cameras and there is a high proportion of vehicles parked in these spaces all day arriving and leaving within the times of the Park & Ride Service Colleagues on twilight shifts who need a physical permit to park are often using photocopied permits or not displaying a permit at all

Due to this we need to ensure that these spaces are being used correctly and that anyone who can use the Park & Ride, does so:

Clinical cross-site/on call colleagues should only use this parking area when necessary for them to get into the hospital quickly or who work cross site during the day for emergency purposes– otherwise the Park & Ride or other car parks should be used

There should be very few twilight shift colleagues requiring this parking now that the Park & Ride service operates between 6 20am and 9 25pm

With effect from Monday 26 May 2025 staff will not be able to park in this area before 9am

There will no longer be permits in departments for twilight shift workers Instead there will be permits available in the car park cabin for daily parking on a “first come first served” basis

When you give your vehicle registration number to the car park attendant they will put you on the exemption list for the day. Parking in this area without being on the exemption list will incur a Parking Charge Notice (PCN)

At the end of the day you must return the permit to the cabin (out of hours if cabin is closed please slip under the cabin door)

Failure to return the permit could result in access being refused in the future

Any colleagues parking in the purple zone without displaying a permit may receive a PCN

Car share parking spaces at PRH

The trust has allocated eight car sharing spaces at the PRH

Over the last year 200 new staff have joined the Trust’s liftshare app, which makes it easier for staff to connect to potential lifts It’s free to join up - https://sath liftshare com/default asp

To park in a car share space, you must show at least two car-share permits on your dashboard, to indicate you are car sharing Failure to show two permits will result in a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) Please email sath greenertravels@nhs net to obtain a car share permit

Speed on site at RSH

Please be mindful that there is a 10mph speed limit on site at RSH which is in place at all times

Left turn only from Evolution Road

To ensure that traffic does not build up on Evolution Road, we are asking all vehicles to turn left at the junction. This is especially important at the end of the working day when the Park & Ride buses are experiencing delays to the service due to colleagues not adhering to the left turn only signs. If you need to turn right you should use the Racecourse Lane exit when it’s available or turn left and then go around the roundabout.

Park & Ride update

RSH Park & Ride

737 free drinks claimed so far

We are receiving amazing feedback from our patients about the Park & Ride service Thank you to all the colleagues who are also using the service and freeing up car parking spaces for our patients and other colleagues.

You can now track the service on the arriva app so you can see where the bus is and if there are any delays The tracking is obviously dependant on network so may not be available all of the time

We work closely with arriva on any disruptions to service Any reports are thoroughly investigated by arriva to ensure that the service remains reliable and accessible

If you work within the hours of 6 20am and 9 25pm and currently pay to park on site, please consider using the Park & Ride - save money, get your free drink and take the stress out of finding a parking space

PRH Park & Ride

We need more colleagues to use the service at PRH A recent feedback survey found that 100% of those asked about the PRH Park & Ride would recommend it to a colleague and 100% rated the overall service as excellent You can find more information on how to register, on the intranet
