Football Tournament Nets £1,000 for SaTH Charity

On Sunday 4 June the first annual SaTH Charity football tournament took place at Shrewsbury Sports Village, netting an incredible £1,000.

Organised by porter, Mark Rawlings, almost 100 colleagues took part, with 10 teams playing in total.

The winning team was Drongos Utd (porters, catering and medical records). Runners-up were Unathletico Madrid (PRH porters) with third place going to Parton’s Predators (colleagues from a mixture of departments) following a tense penalty shoot-out.

Julia Clarke, Director of Public Participation, said: “I really enjoyed the tournament – all the teams showed remarkable team spirit and enthusiasm, as well as competitiveness! It was great to see so many different staff groups from across the hospitals join in to support our charity – and the sunshine on the day was a bonus!”

Teresa Boughey, NonExecutive Director, also attended and presented the winning team with their cup as well as gold, silver and bronze medals. She said: “It was a lovely afternoon. Well done to everyone involved.”
