1 Wrap up warm and climb the Wrekin. Take a Thermos flask for the top (and send us your selfies! @sathnhs) 2 Do an Escape Room… your brain will be a lot clearer without that hangover!

3 Make biscuits for your friends/ colleagues.

Everyone needs a pick me up during these winter months!

4 Bounce the blues away at one of the local trampoline parks – they’re not weather dependent and do sessions for adults as well as kids!

5 Go to one of the cosy coffee shops in Shrewsbury – local businesses will appreciate the support!

6 Make a “movie bucket list” and work your way through it.

Get the popcorn in (but don’t start us off on the whole sweet vs salty debate!)

8 Visit a local museum/tourist spot that you’ve overlooked – us Shropshire folk are lucky to have some wonderful sites on our doorstep!

7 Go to a board game café… we won’t tell anyone if you end up just picking up Jenga

9 Listen to that podcast you’ve been meaning to try, there’s a topic for everyone!

11 Go for a nice 10 Clear out that wardrobe – but make sure you do something helpful with your old clothes, donate them to a charity shop or have a look for some popular high street shops that do recycling schemes

12 Meditate – check out the app store on your phone if you’re not sure where to start, there’s loads of great resources and a lot of them are free

13 Take a bath. Add essential oils; Lavender for

calm and sleep, frankincense for anxiety, orange for energy or rosemary for a mental boost. Rubber ducks optional.

14 Read outside.. embrace our wonderful English weather and take a warm blanket with a hot drink

15 Book a treatment at a salon – you deserve a pamper!

16 Cook an elaborate dish you have been wanting to try, you’ve saved the calories from the alcohol!

17 Get a colouring book – it’s great for mindfulness. We expect you to stay in the lines though!

18 Make a delicious mocktail – you can find some fab looking recipes online, or get creative and wing it!

19 Write a handwritten letter and post it to a friend. Imagine how chuffed they would be that you’ve made the effort.

22 Go to an exercise

class that you wouldn’t normally go to. You’re already doing wonders for your body by staying off the booze so why not look after it even more!

20 Start a Journal or a diary of some kind – a lot of stationary shops sell ones where you fill in questions if you’re not sure where to start.

21 Volunteer – January can be a lonely time just after Christmas.

23 Take a stroll around Shrewsbury Quarry and appreciate the wonderful work that goes into keeping the Dingle so picturesque. Feel free to get a selfie with the ducks.

24 Visit a pottery painting shop – enjoy looking at your “creation” afterwards.

26 Learn an instrument – you can often find free tutorials on YouTube

Brunch 28 Check out the local theatres to see what’s on – even if it’s a cheesy panto!

25 Treat yourself to a meal at a restaurant you’ve been eyeing up – studies suggest alcohol dulls the taste buds so now’s the perfect time for some tasty treats.

29 Put some of the money you’ve saved towards a trip at the end of the month 30 Have a night out at the bowling alley

31 Visit one of the little towns in South Shropshire – enjoy the drive through the countryside and pop into a café for tea and cake!
