Colleagues have been using pledge boards to say why speaking up is important to them, while also taking the time to say ‘thank you’

Sharing the speak up message Throughout October we’re highlighting Freedom To Speak Up Month, and our Acting Lead Guardian Chan Kaur has been travelling around our PRH and RSH to share why speaking up is so important.

She said: “As Freedom to Speak Up Guardians our job is to act in an independent capacity to support and help drive the Trust to make it a safer place for patients and staff as well as a more open place to work.

“We offer support and advice to those that want to raise concerns to ensure that any safety issue is addressed and feedback is given to the member of staff who raised it. We also ensure that there are no repercussions for those that have raised the concern either immediately or in the long-term”

Fab Change Day Colleagues took part in Fab Change Day on Wednesday to share and celebrate ‘fab ideas’.

Organised by our End of Life Care Team the event included colleagues from our Safeguarding Team and Mouthcare Matters.

Jules Lewis, End of Life Care Lead Nurse, said: “Fab change day is an opportunity to share the good stuff, celebrate and share some fab ideas of things that have worked well during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It’s also an opportunity to thank staff for all their hard work at this time”

The Pets as Therapy team, who bring in pets to visit and comfort patients, have sent a message of thanks to Trust staff.

Volunteers Ann Marie and Jan Jones are familiar faces on the wards at PRH with their dogs Lewis, Ziggy and Sasha but they have been unable to visit due to the pandemic.

Ann Marie said: “We just want to say a big thank you to all NHS workers and staff at SaTH. “We are thinking of you all and all the hard work that everyone does in the Trust. The dogs are missing you all and the pats that they used to get, and the little treats.

“We are looking forward to coming in and hopefully seeing you all next year.”

Long Service Awards The Trust’s Recognition Team have now contacted everybody eligible for a Long Service Award.

The Long Service Award is awarded to all staff who have worked in the NHS for over 25 or 40 years.

This does not have to be continuous service and is calculated by all NHS service not just service at SaTH. If you think you are eligible but have not been contacted, please email sath.awards@nhs.net with the following information: 
