Pedal power provides iPads for patients A keen cyclist raise more than £900 during lockdown to help patients at SaTH stay in touch with loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic. Chris Jennings (pictured) decided to set herself a challenge to raise money for the Trust, with the funds donated going towards purchasing iPads for patient use in hospital. Along with two friends, Chris completed the challenge on her driveway. Technology has been key during the pandemic for keeping in touch with friends, family and colleagues. With visiting restrictions in place at our hospitals, it has been even more essential for patients to be able to speak to their loved ones. For some, sadly, they don’t have the means to do this. The idea is for the devices to be used by patients when they are in hospital. Post COVID-19, the iPads will also be helpful for those whose relatives don’t live locally and can’t visit them, to keep in touch. Dr Suzanne Thompson, Consultant Physician and Geriatrician at SaTH, who is friends with Chris, said: “Chris and I discovered a love of cycling later in life.
