The Chemotherapy Day Unit at RSH has become the fifth department to be awarded the coveted Diamond status as part of the Trust's Exemplar improvement programme. To achieve Exemplar Ward status, the team must meet high standards in a number of key areas from caring, medicine management, leadership, nutrition and hydration to cleanliness, safety and record-keeping. There are three levels of award – Silver, Gold and Diamond.

across Shrewsbury. Customers simply pay £1 deposit for a Shrewsbury Cup, enjoy their drink and then return the cup to any participating café to get their £1 back.

The cups are then washed ready to be used again.

Organisers have been working with cafes to set up Covid safe

systems in-house. When you return your cup to a café you drop it in a bucket and then get your £1 back – or you get another coffee in a fresh cup.

This way, the barista knows that all cups that go near their coffee machines have been washed and sanitised to their standards and customers know that every cup is safe.

Could you be a volunteer at SaTH? Our volunteers play a hugely important role—making a real difference to our staff, patients and visitors.

Prior to COVID-19, the Trust had volunteers in most wards and departments at both hospitals – these included ward helpers, mealtime buddies, meet and greeters, hostesses, dementia volunteers, chaplaincy volunteers, end of life care volunteers, lab volunteers and many more.

Those who volunteer range from people looking to gain experience in the NHS for future careers, to those who have retired but are looking for a way to give something back.

INCENTIVE PAYMENTS FOR HIRING A NEW APPRENTICE Hiring an apprentice is a great way to fill skill gaps and encourage growth in your organisation. As the coronavirus pandemic continues, we’re keen to support you on the road to recovery by making sure you can enjoy the benefits apprenticeships bring. That’s why we’re introducing incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice.

Employers who hire new apprentices between 1 August 2020 and 31 Jan 2021 could get:  £2,000 for apprentices aged 16 to 24  £1,500 for apprentices aged over 25 The incentive payment can be spent on anything and can include contributing towards the salary of an apprentice.
