On Sunday 5 July, patients will be provided with individual party food boxes in place of their usual meal, while platters of sandwiches and cake will be delivered to staff on the wards.

Staff who are not based on the wards can also join in the fun by pre-ordering a ‘birthday tea’ for collection from the Mytton and Apley Restaurants.  To pre-order your food call extension 1147 (RSH) or 2832 (PRH). Orders need to be placed

by Wednesday 1 July. Food will be ready for collection on Sunday 5 July.

Last week the Trust promoted Learning Disability Week.

There are approximately 1.5 million people with a diagnosed learning disability in the UK, however there are likely more people who are unaware or undiagnosed.

It is important that staff listen to family members and use a patient’s hospital passport to identify the best way to approach a situation and any reasonable adjustments which are required.

Learning Disability Week was particularly poignant this year as a person with a learning disability may become anxious or distressed in a clinical environment, this may be further exacerbated by the use of face masks and PPE.

As part of Learning Disability Week, Makaton healthcare cards were provided to every ward and department to aide communication. These are available in the butterfly box within each area.

SaTH in lights Members of our ED Department featured at the launch of 'Rainbows for the NHS' at Piccadilly Lights in London.

‘The People’s Picture’ is calling for your pictures, videos and stories to create a giant interactive rainbow mosaic of ‘hope’ made up of thousands of NHS staff, key workers, carers combined with the nation’s pictures to be revealed on the NHS’s 5 July NHS birthday.

So far 12,456 pictures and stories have been collected, including this one of Team SaTH. Once finished it will become a giant interactive online mosaic for the 72nd birthday of the NHS on the 5 July and will extend nationally as multiple artworks. The mosaic will highlight stories from across the nation, doctors, nurses, key workers, carers and a huge range of responses.

Jo’s Golden Ticket Student Nurse Jo Majski will take-up a full time position in Trust once she qualifies in September having this week received a Golden Ticket.

Pab Hnatiuk, Ward Manager, said: “Jo has shown hard work and commitment to patient care by stepping forward and working with us through the current crisis.

“We are all delighted that Jo accepted her Golden Ticket and we look forward to having her on board.”

A virtual NHS Pride event will take place today.

Pride season is the highlight of the LGBT+ calendar, and every year hospital staff join marches across the country to showcase the NHS as an inclusive employer.

As the march cannot take place this year due to social distancing restrictions, a three-hour virtual march will take place this evening at 6pm.
