Eight-year-old Phoebe Morgan-Mialkowski has created a video spreading a message of love to NHS staff.

In her letter asking for contributions to the video, Phoebe wrote: “My name is Phoebe Morgan-Mialkowski and I am eight-yearsold.

“I live in Shrewsbury near to the hospital. Some of the nurses and doctors walk around where I live on their lunch breaks and I have noticed that they are stressed and sad. I have also noticed that the customers in the shops are a little angry too. So, my mum and I would like to make people smile again.

Phoebe’s mum Julia said: “When faced with the challenge of home schooling my daughter I have to be honest, I was a little overwhelmed. I asked Phoebe what she would like to do and she said that she would like to work on “Because I cannot go to my school, my mum and I have a project that would make people smile. decided to work on a community project and thought of a way to make Shrewsbury stand happy again despite the “The video is the result of that project. More support for Team SaTH The community continues to rally around our teams dealing with the coronavirus outbreak, with more generous offers of food, equipment, accommodation and more.

be outdone, our own Maxillofacial Team, supported by colleagues in Audiology, have also produced visors, creating an incredible 1,800 in just over two days.

Cadbury’s donated 9,000 Easter eggs which were shared across both sites. Morrison’s in Wellington also donated Easter eggs and support bags containing tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits for staff at PRH and there was even a gift of Easter Eggs for RSH staff from dance troupe Shrewsbury Sapphires (above).

All donations made to the Trust are being sent to the newlylaunched Wellbeing Hubs in both hospitals. Located at the back of the Mytton and Apley restaurants, the Hubs will distribute items donated to the Trust as fairly as possible. The Hubs will also be providing information for staff relating to Covid-19 and also feature information on the support available to staff including access to coaching and support telephone lines.

Many local companies have been donating lip balms and hand creams, including local Facebook support groups, The Body Shop, Poundland in Telford and Park House Hotel.

Picture: Shropshire Star A Shropshire distillery has switched production from spirits to hand sanitiser, in a bid to help the county’s hospitals during the Coronavirus outbreak.

staff during these difficult times. They’re working absolutely tirelessly, in really tough circumstances, so we’re thrilled that we can help them in some way.

Henstone Distillery, based in Oswestry, has been using the alcohol it has to make the currently in-demand, effective hand wash for SaTH, The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH), and local care homes.

“We’d seen that distilleries in America had been making hand wash, so we just thought ‘hang on a minute – why can’t we’?”

For the time-being, the distillery has halted production of alcoholic drinks to instead focus its attention on producing bottles of hand sanitiser.

After seeing a number of posts on social media regarding the shortages of the hand wash, the distillery tracked down the ingredients listed on the World Health Organisation’s website.

Allison Parr, one of the Directors of Henstone Distillery, said: “We’ve just wanted to do what we can to help NHS

She said the process had been more challenging than the team had first envisaged, due to difficulty in tracking down some of the key ingredients, as well as working their way around the red tape, which had been in place.

“We’ve had to get around a fair bit of red tape to ensure we are legally allowed to do this but thankfully HMRC changed the rules last week, which means we can do this without paying duty on the alcohol,” she said.

Both RJAH and SaTH have received delivery of the hand wash this week.

Julia Clarke, Director of Corporate Services at SaTH, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to Henstone Distillery for the very kind donation of hand sanitiser. It’s fantastic to see how many local companies are rallying around our NHS staff and wider community, and we can’t thank them enough.

Stacey Keegan, Acting Chief Executive at RJAH, said: “A huge thank you to the team at Henstone Distillery and Stonehouse Brewery, who have produced and supplied us with vital supplies of hand sanitiser, which they’ve produced at the distillery.

“Their efforts are making a big difference to the county’s hospitals and care homes.
