Get active with ‘Couch to 5K’ training programme SaTH is organising its very first Couch to 5K training programme, which starts in April and ends on July 4 at our Charity Fun Day.

a busy day at work, which as we all know can often be hectic and somewhat stressful, there is nothing better than pulling on your trainers and getting out into the fresh air for a run.

Places for the Couch to 5K programme are limited and bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis.

 Register yourself on the Couch to 5K programme by using the Intranet’s Training Diary (in the Health and Wellbeing category) and then pay your £10 entry fee for the Charity Fun Run by visiting bookitzone.com/sath_charity/YWjFFX

The programme is being run with the support of Karen Breese, Dementia Nurse Specialist, who will be the course leader at RSH, and Lawley Running Club, which will lead the programme at PRH.

The programme officially starts on Monday 20 April at PRH and Wednesday 22 April at RSH (both starting at 5.45pm) and will continue for 11 weeks until the big day on Saturday 4 July.

 Once your place has been confirmed you will be sent a medical form which you will need to complete in full and return to sath.healthieryou@nhs.net prior to starting Couch to 5K training programme.

The course leaders will support all members of staff, whether they be new to running or keen to get back into the sport.

The SaTH Couch To 5K programme is free, however participants will need to register for the Charity 5k Fun Run, which costs £10 with all the proceeds going to the SaTH Charity Living Well With Dementia Appeal.

 All participants will need to brings trainers, comfortable clothes to run in, a high-viability top, water and a smile.

Organised by the Health and Wellbeing Team, the idea is to encourage staff at the Trust to get active by completing a tailored training programme that culminates with participation in the 5K Fun Run at the Charity Fun Day.
