How The Salvation Army helps at Christmas
Our Christmas hope: That no one should be homeless, hungry or alone.
This Christmas, thousands of people across the UK will turn to The Salvation Army as they face rising costs, loneliness, homelessness and hardship. In over 600 communities, The Salvation Army will be there, offering food, warmth, shelter, support and friendship to those who have nowhere else to turn. But we can’t do it without you.
This Christmas, your support helps The Salvation Army:
• Deliver food parcels to families struggling to afford a festive meal
• Distribute toys and gifts to children whose parents can’t buy presents
• Serve Christmas lunches and companionship to older people who would otherwise be alone
• Provide a safe place to sleep for more than 3,000 people every night in our Lifehouses
• Offer emergency support, hot meals, warm clothing, and links to long-term services for people sleeping rough
• Open our doors with drop-in centres, day services and community hubs offering dignity, care and connection

At a time when many are facing hardship, isolation or homelessness, The Salvation Army offers a light in the darkness, bringing hope, practical help and unconditional support.

Others - Trade for Hope
CREATING JOBS TO END POVERTY
Others is a Salvation Army initiative using fair trade principles to create jobs and contribute to empowerment and poverty alleviation. We sell beautiful products that are carefully handcrafted by our artisans in Bangladesh and Kenya.
Others artisans are engaged through relationships with local Salvation Army programmes that focus on economic development in rural and urban settings. Examples include self-help groups focusing on women’s empowerment and projects for rehabilitation of sex workers or trafficking victims.
Through training, flexible working conditions and fair wages, our aim is to help our artisans to become more independent, helping them to provide for their families, improve their living conditions, and put their children through school. When supporting Others, you contribute to sustainable development in Bangladesh and Kenya.

Tote Bags
SP&S are proud to be working alongside HMP Five Wells, Wellingborough, providing denim and raw materials to the prison as part of a prisoner rehabilitation programme. The denim is collected at our sortation plant in Kettering and shipped to HMP Five Wells for manufacturing. The denim is washed, pressed to make these handmade denim tote bags. There are three designs available but as these are handmade, each bag is unique.

SP&S are delighted to be teaming up with Strawberry Field to bring you a range of their unique gift items.
Strawberry Field and the original Victorian house were gifted to The Salvation Army in 1934 and in 1936 it was opened as a children’s home for girls, later accepting boys. From then on, for nearly 70 years, it gave some of Liverpool’s most vulnerable children a refuge from turmoil and unhappiness – a safe, calm and spiritual home.
