Dear Prospective Families,

Greetings from St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School! We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends, including some much needed rest. One goal of our admission newsletter is to inform you of the many ways in which SAS stands out and apart from other schools. All schools carry similar goals in the holistic education of students, but what does St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School offer that others do not?

In the weeks ahead, I will highlight aspects of SAS that clearly differentiate us from other schools, both statewide and nationally. Today, I hope you enjoy learning about SAS’s special “Sewanee Experience.” The Sewanee Experience

Our 550-acre campus sits adjacent to Sewanee: University of the South. Our relationship with the University results in SAS students having access to courses, cultural events, and collaborative opportunities. Typically, 34% of our students graduate having taken in-person classes at Sewanee, a top 50 liberal arts college, creating an official college transcript as early as a student’s junior year to carry with them to any college in the country.

Our Sewanee Experience replaces the need for the Advanced Placement curriculum, where AP classes may or may not count for college credit depending upon several factors such as the final score on the AP exam, the college of choice, and the subject of the AP course. AP credit is subject to the discretion of the college or university, unlike the college transcript from Sewanee. Beyond the pure academic advantage of taking inperson college classes, our students experience the college classroom, learning to communicate with college students and with college professors, which just may be the most important and genuine benefit of all.

Furthermore, SAS students participate in the University orchestra, dance, and theatre, while also enjoying the natural benefits of a prestigious college such as a highly resourced library, guest lectures, college sporting events, and much more. The collaborative nature is rich in history and substance, setting the SAS experience apart from other schools in the country.

Our most recent alumni magazine highlights the Sewanee Experience and much more about life at SAS. Enjoy our magazine by clicking here.

Recording Studio and our award- winning WMTN Radio

All radio programming, recording, and production is led by our SAS students. Take a listen here.
