PATHSHALA: SCHOOL DESIGN SITE, COMMUNITY AND PLANNING: The site is surrounded by a new expanding community of Bhaisepati, Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Designed in an area of about 23,070 sq.m., the site is facilitated by road network on its north, south and east side. The school provides education for classes up to 10 and consists of two sections each [capacity= 30 per classes]. Besides the major educational houses the site needed to serve entertainment and overall growth of children, hence is facilitated with Auditorium [capacity= 600], Administration block, Multipurpose hall, Swimming pool, Dining/ cafeteria block [capacity= 168], Library and other supporting facilities. Colourful city of Lalitpur, where the site is located. Hence use of primary colours to provide visual hierarchy.
Two Axis are drawn through the north- south and east-west direction. As the main road is on East of the site it is selected as the main entrance. In southern area of site residential areas are located hence southern spaces are allocated for the communal spaces such as auditorium, parking and playground. Library is located at the focal point of the N-S axis, two entrances are at East and South point of the axis. Classrooms, courtyards, canteen and admin block are placed accordind to the functional requirements.
CONNECTIVITY
Design is done across various courtyards diving seperate spaces for different functions and group of people. Wind and sun path direction are taken into account creating ideal flow for heat, light and ventilation.

SITE OVERVIEW
SWOT ANALYSIS OF SITE STRENGTH •orientation •Access to the site •better alignment with the roads •plain topography
Our main concept is to revive the ‘chautaries as a socialization space’. It will serve as a gathering space for teachers, staffs and students. The chautaries are raised platforms often constructed beneath big shady trees beside rural trails where the travellers can rest after a tedious uphill climb.
OPPORTUNIT Y •orientation visual •proper plane •possibility of more vitality and socialization of space
THREATS •Dampness •Mayn’t be emphasized due to nearby playgrounds.
Site is located at the boy’s hostel premises of institute of engineering, pulchowk campus. Which is also quite near to girls hostel and residential quarter for staffs of IOE, pulchowk campus, lalitpur district.
Site is plain in topographical point of view and has possibility to create a strong visual axis to the overall dynamics of the space.
