Basketball Sunday

Basketball Sunday will be during the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday, February 14.

During this special worship service, the basketball ministry at Sardis will be recognized as we thank Sardis for their support. Basketball players are encouraged to wear their jerseys/ t‐shirts and join the Sports and Recreation Ministry in the Education Hall for a juice and donut reception after the service.

A Time for Singing – Glory to God!

The time for singing has come! We will be introducing the NEW Presbyterian Hymnal, Glory to God, soon. The choirs, Worship Ministry, and staff have all been busy preparing for the arrival of the Glory to God Hymnal. Volunteers have been stamping and placing dedication and memorial plates in many books.

About 400 hymns are carried over from the 1990 “blue” hymnal – including the majority of the hymns we sing at Sardis. There are more than 450 new hymns that come from older Presbyterian hymnals, other songbooks, and individual authors and composers. Glory to God includes a brief note with each hymn, providing information about its music, theology, and/or history. It reflects the diversity, width, and breadth of the church, incorporating many different musical styles: gospel, folk, spirituals, traditional, contemporary, and global music.

The majority of our current hymnals will be donated to other churches. Sardis is reaching out to various groups to find churches and ministries that may be in need of hymnals. Other hymnals will be available for our congregation to take home with them after it is retired.

Sardis is half way toward our goal of sponsored hymnals. Please consider investing in this hymnal that will inspire current and future generations of members at Sardis. For more information about the hymnal project, check online at www.sardis.org or contact Kaitlyn Davros at 704.366.1854.
