EDITOR’S NOTE

he world of the interiors seems to turn faster, nearly as the world of fashion. Not only countless of new designs come each season on the market, but countless of new international design brands as well – for the enjoyment of design addicts like me. Inspirations and trends, as you perhaps know, are essential in the Faible Living magazine. More particularly in this fall/winter issue. The new section "Interior Stylist" is all about contemporary interior styles and should supports you to find your own, personal living style. It contains twenty pages of out-of-the-box ideas to differentiate your interior from the ordinary. As well the new trends in design and interior will not be missed out, because what would the fall/winter issue be without a big trend report ? It would be a pity. But there is no reason to be disappointed, it is not the case. You will find the latest interior trends on over twenty pages. As always, it is exciting to see the tendency and what designers and today's technologies are able to create. But I can say one thing right away: It’s gonna be colorful ! Even more extensively than the above-mentioned topics is the new section "Culture", that is about cultural assets, in design and style. We selected Japan as the major theme because of its great influences on the world. It's not just the Japanese cuisine like Sushi that conquered the world. The beauty and perfection of Japanese designs, culture and philosophy have a great influence on this world more than we might think. Which significant influences Japan has, starts on page 79. Like the trends in fashion, the interior trends come and go. Not only velvet has a big revival this season, the raw industrial style makes a comeback as well. The industrial style was very en vogue in the late 2000s, before it was replaced by the shabby chic movement and this, in turn, by the scandi chic trend. But the new industrial style turns out differently. It is far more modern and adapted to the current zeitgeist. Designers like Tom Dixon created for quite some time ultramodern furniture with elements from the industrial style. New companies like the Italian design brand Il Fanale launched recently a complete collection of designs in industrial style. Things certainly remain exciting. Saroeun Dan, Editor in Chief

FROM INDI A TO HOLLY WOOD Probably Pierre Jeanneret himself would never have thought what success his simply designed wooden chair Chandigarh will have.

L

ike no other piece of furniture, the Chandigarh chair has been a roaring success. The Swiss designer Pierre Jeanneret planned and constructed in the '50s with his world famous cousin Le Corbusier a whole small town in the north of India named Chandigarh. The two designers were responsible for architecture and design in the planned community. Pierre Jeanneret designed a numerous furniture for public and private buildings, whereby the iconic chair has developed. Today an original costs up to US$ 10.000. In Hollywood circles you can see the Chandigarh chairs once again, probably as objects of prestige.
