Luckily that concept took shape, and I hope you enjoy these articles.

Dolly Parton, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe - iconic screen beauties who exude romance and are among the visual menu of 10 inspiration looks within a boldly seductive collaboration that gives you their signature styles in an elegant new way for your wedding day.
The Bardot recently celebrated their FIRST Ten Years (!!) in Saint Augustine, Florida, with their first-ever Bridal Runway Show and Beauty Brand activation! Seen here… Alayne and Britnye with one of their board members.
Last Spring, The Bardot’s timeless glamour and the exquisite beauty stylings of Saratoga’s Make Me Fab salon began a larger-than-life collaboration. “We came from the same school of bridal systems, so our collaboration really happened very organically,” said Make Me Fab founder Alayne Curtiss. From aisle to afterparty, Alayne Curtiss, a licensed esthetician and cosmetologist, has been defining exquisite wedding looks throughout the Saratoga, Albany, Adirondack, and Finger Lakes region for 30+ years. Now, at 61, she’s stepping away from the chair and into the role of coach and trainer in a bridal beauty brand expansion as effortless as her make-up and hair looks are flawless.

A Classic Romance Alayne Curtiss hails from a long line of successful local entrepreneurs, and throughout her distinguished career, she has explored many facets of the beauty industry. Alayne is a brand ambassador and a product creator - one who defines affordable, approachable beauty in this region and beyond. Make Me Fab’s looks have graced local, national, television, runway, and online outlets. In the past year, the efficiency, transparency, and ease of Make Me Fab’s collaboration with The Bardot has led to Alayne experiencing more of one of her greatest joys– interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching artists eager to become part of their growing team of 91 freelance associates. “As we’ve been working together more and more, I’ve come to see the benefit of having each other (and being in each other’s corner), so that together, we can build a brand of this size - a custom system that includes everything I’d want from my dream bridal beauty company wish list,” said Alayne. Always in high-demand, Alayne still remembers the moment Make Me Fab’s calendar first rivaled The Canfield Casino’s and encourages every bride to make their hair and makeup bookings, as soon as possible after their engagement to ensure the allure of their wedding day look, is as enduring as their romance. wedding is the beginning of a new family story. At Park-McCullough Historic Governor’s Mansion, couples can celebrate that beginning in a setting where history, romance, and Vermont’s natural beauty come together. Built in 1865, the preserved Second Empire Victorian mansion overlooks picturesque grounds in the quaint village of North Bennington. With a formal garden, sweeping lawns, a wraparound veranda, and a renovated Carriage Barn, the estate offers distinctive spaces for ceremonies, cocktails, dinner, and dancing. Behind the property, your guests will find nine miles of trails across pastureland and through the woods, to add a hike into their weekend schedule. The setting invites couples to make the day feel personal, with their own tastes and traditions at its heart. A wedding suite in the mansion provides the wedding party with a comfortable space for final preparations before the ceremony, or, reserve it for the day and enjoy an elevated pre-ceremony experience that allows a more seamless transition. ©Christina Florada

The formal garden provides a ceremony setting that changes with the seasons. During cocktail hour, guests can explore the grounds, enjoy lawn games, relax on the veranda, or tour the mansion with museum guides who share the home’s history. The mansion also acts as a rain site, providing a uniquely beautiful space out of the elements when needed. These experiences give guests something to discover between the day’s major moments. A wedding can become an opportunity to slow down, spend time together, and enjoy the surroundings. The Carriage Barn accommodates receptions, live music, and dancing, with hardwood floors, a catering kitchen, restrooms, heating, and air conditioning. Couples may select their own vendors, subject to venue requirements, without additional vendor fees. The private events team can provide suggested vendor contacts. Consider the property for ancillary events, too. Afternoon Tea with your bridal party to plan the day, prep favors, or arrange flowers. A rehearsal dinner on the veranda to connect more deeply with honored guests before your wedding day. A charming Sunday brunch to wind down after a festive weekend of celebrations. Your Park-McCullough wedding team enjoys helping couples and their families to infuse their wedding weekend with meaning and grace. For anyone dreaming of a Vermont wedding with historic charm, Park-McCullough invites you to imagine the possibilities. Celebrating weddings since 1865, your story belongs here — from the first look to the last dance. On the waters of Lake George, Jessica Adams Russell met Connor Kinzelmann. Unlike two ships passing each other in the night however, Jessica and Connor reconnected again shortly after for their first date at Max London’s Restaurant and Bar in Saratoga Springs. Two years later, while at the Sagamore Resort, Connor proposed. Both Jessica and Connor love the water and selected Cape Cod, Massachusetts for their July 17, 2026 destination wedding. To create an experience uniquely their own, they chose the classic old-world charm of the Chatham Bars Inn for their rehearsal dinner and welcome party, and the modern luxury of the Wychmere Beach Club for their ceremony and reception space.
Captaining the Ship Jessica fell in love with the Wychmere at first sight. The idyllic setting - with its astonishing panoramic oceanfront views and white sand beaches - is nearly a five-hour drive from the Capital Region, making planning a wedding there for 100 guests a challenge as unique as this love story. “Achieving success at wedding planning is about understanding the couple’s vision, creating a thoughtful guest experience, and choosing really fabulous vendors,” said Billie Jo Newman. For 25+ years, Billie Jo has worked alongside Jessica’s mother and CEO of Frank Adams Jewelers, Kimberly Adams Russell, handling advertising, marketing, events and community relations for the fourth generation, family-owned business. Because she has known Jessica since her birth, Billie Jo was determined to create the wedding of her dreams. “I know her and her style, and we get along really well,” said Billie Jo. The closeness of their existing personal and working relationship made communication during the year-long planning process infinitely easier – including an agonizing search for invitations, flowers, and signage in a very specific shade of blush pink, adding just the right touch of sophistication to the wedding’s beachy, laid-back coastal vibes. saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com

Manning the Deck Considerable time and research were put into finding and forging new relationships with vendors that made the event truly special. “It’s not just about finding someone who is talented—it’s about finding people who really understand your vision, communicate well, and who you feel confident putting your trust in, from miles away,” said Billie Jo. Discovering proprietors like those running The Tern Inn Bed & Breakfast and Cottages was exceptionally rewarding. They were wonderfully warm and accommodating, even facilitating early bookings. Weeks after the wedding, guests were still raving about what an absolutely lovely stay they had there. By also leaning into the family’s established relationships with local vendors and continuing to support those who have supported them through the years, the event felt even more meaningful (justifying the added travel fees and accommodation costs).
Leaving Port Thirty-five years ago, Joe Elario photographed Jessica’s mother, Kimberly Adams Russell as she walked down the aisle. Since then, Elario Photography has become a local legend, so it was only natural that Joe’s son, JP Elario (who has followed in his father’s footsteps), would capture Jessica and Connor’s big day. Working with Rena Zeppetelli, founder of Rena's Fine Flowers, and the mother of Jessica’s childhood friend, added another deeply personal layer to the destination wedding. To bring the floral vision to life flawlessly, Rena rented a floral studio on Cape Cod, creating a dedicated space to stage and prepare the arrangements – ensuring every detail of the floral design was executed exactly as Jessica envisioned. Chris Garabedian, a family friend, bespoke tailor, and member of the clergy, officiated the ceremony. Even with Billie Jo managing so many details from afar, having a highly skilled Wychmere wedding coordinator onsite proved invaluable. For a destination wedding, countless venue and location-specific details simply couldn’t be anticipated from home. Having someone on-site who knows Wychmere intimately provided both expertise and peace of mind, allowing Billie Jo to focus on the larger vision while the onsite team handled the many details that could only be managed in person. Billie Jo also oversaw the personalized elements that made the celebration uniquely theirs, including custom signage by Designs by Viv, which incorporated the couple’s beloved French bulldogs, Pablo and Saint, into the wedding. Their signature cocktails, named for the dogs, added another playful and personal touch. A dedicated wedding website kept guests informed throughout the planning process while making RSVPs and last-minute updates easy for Billie Jo to manage. As Jessica says… “It very much exceeded my vision. It turned out to be everything I wanted and more! Everyone saw my vision and helped make it become real.”

Event Planner Lisa Giannone navigates wedding waters like an experienced captain charting a course. When you see the pictures, you’d never guess what was going on behind the scenes - and that’s just the way Lisa Giannone wants it. For Lisa, a successful event is all about the details. Before becoming a fullservice wedding planner and custom event designer, Lisa spent 20 years steadying her sea legs managing teams, solving problems, and ensuring everything ran smoothly at a Saratoga Springs medical practice.
Fair Winds and Following Seas As part of her personalized process, Lisa also creates two distinct day-of timelines – one for the couple and their family, and one for the vendors noting details like when they’re going to have breaks and eat.
Lisa is a workaholic who loves décor and making plans, she said, but her greatest joy is making others feel special. That’s why, in 2021, Lisa launched LMC Event Planning, LLC and began orchestrating wedding, corporate, and milestone celebrations.
“I take care of the vendors because I know what hard work it is that they’re doing. It’s a long day and I give them the respect they deserve - because without the vendors, there is no wedding and no party,” said Lisa.
“I become everything for my clients,” said Lisa. “It takes a lot of work, but it works for me.”
Ship-Shape Celebrations
Lisa keeps the event ship on an even keel through thoughtful planning, carefully constructed coordination, and on-the-fly fixes. After an initial consultation and questionnaire, she creates a signature LMC Wedding Blueprint™ for each event. This trademarked treasure map is personalized with professional design guidance for your grand adventure, including venue information, event layouts, floorplans, décor, floral, lighting, catering, and signage suggestions. From invitations to nail color to favors, no detail is overlooked. The Blueprint is also available on its own for budget-conscious DIYers. Full wedding coordination, guest experience management, and décor setup are topped off with unexpected surprise touches. From rimming the glass of your signature drink, to having your wedding out of state, or on the water, Lisa has a firm grip on the wheel. “When I actually see their faces, it makes it all worthwhile for me,” she said. 24 | SARATOGA BRIDE | FALL/WINTER 2026
All Hands on Deck In addition to planning and pitchingin wherever she’s needed, arranging flowers, grabbing candid and video shots, and putting together grazing tables and dessert bars, Lisa often receives preferred pricing on rentals and passes those savings on to her clients. Lisa also has an extensive collection of more than 1,000 décor and rental items available to rent. Whether it's trendy dusty blue or classic neutrals, Lisa's collection is only one of the many extras LMC Event Planning offers. Lisa, an industry expo veteran, and her team of event assistants, have earned a reputation for delivering a custom look at prime locations. LMC Event Planning is a preferred vendor at premier resorts including The Lodge at Schroon Lake, but also handles weddings and events throughout the Capital Region, Adirondacks, Hudson Valley and beyond.
She partners with 518 Expos and often tags vendors in her social media posts, writes Google reviews, and through LMC Social Media 518, her social media management business, creates content, captioning, and consistent online posts. From arranging the entertainment to helping pick out dresses, Lisa becomes so close to couples that they feel like family. As she watches them walk down the aisle, tears flow down her face also. In mid-century Manhattan, the cream of the New York society crop was outfitted by Bendel’s. Started by Henri Bendel, a couture designer who outfitted elite families of the era, the studio earned renown for bringing names like Coco Chanel, Ralph Lauren, and Michael Kors into the American lexicon. Made of lustrous satin for socialite Lelia Wardwell, and adorned with lace, the gown’s nipped waist and full skirt created the beloved hourglass silhouette, while its long sleeves and modest neckline are not only sophisticated, but symbolic of a woman’s more demure role in history at the time.

The Prodigal Daughter Returns A child of the sixties and seventies, Clarissa Bullitt, Ph.D., was among a generation of women who wanted to free themselves from the confines of restrictive clothing. Although she initially resisted being forced into a certain silhouette, ultimately, she found herself comfortable with the idea of not only getting married, but of wearing her mother, Lelia’s traditional wedding gown. When Clarissa’s daughter, Claire Burnett, got engaged, family lore around the heirloom had elevated the garment to a level of almost supernatural mythos. When it came time to unbox the dress, Claire was terrified, but feeling the fabric for the first time was incredible, she said. “I was the first woman in our family who genuinely had a choice when it came to what I wanted for my wedding,” said Claire, “It was like I was turning over a new leaf.” From the food to the napkin selections, Claire represented a new generation of women who had options, and the freedom to express themselves.
A Significant Symbol In January, when Claire put the dress on in the Franklin Square studio of expert seamstress Megan Mosca, owner of Mosca Alterations, you could see the fear on her face, remembers Clarissa. The gown had yellowed, and there were visible makeup, sweat, and wine stains. When Claire put it on, however, it fit like a glove, she said. Originally designed for her grandmother, Lelia’s 5’4” frame, the dress was altered in the 1990s to fit Clarissa’s taller 5’9” figure, but now would be worn by Claire, who is 5’10”. Megan calmly assessed the condition of the gown, began pinning the delicate vintage fabric, and taking notes. Claire loved the gown’s timeless elegance but not the awkwardly placed covered buttons securing the four-foot train. Instead, Megan replaced them with a French bustle, securing the billowing fabric with color-coded ribbons hidden inside the skirt’s layers. The structural support and superior construction of a dress with the Henri Bendel nametag carried as much weight as the dress itself during the afternoon wedding in Congress Park on August 16th, 2026. “It’s heavy! Which is probably the reason it lasted three generations. It’s hefty but it can do a party well,” said Claire. saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com
FALL/WINTER 2026 | SARATOGA BRIDE | 29
Family History Woven into Every Stitch A dress of this magnitude has a soothing effect (similar to a weighted blanket) on brides swept up by the grandeur and majesty of it all. “It grounds you, so you don’t float away,” explained Clarissa. “It’s a testament to the quiet community of women and what they had to do back then,” said Claire. The heirloom gown, and the hand-stitched 6’5” veil (thoughtfully made by an ancestor, and worn by every woman in the family on her wedding day since the 1800s), carried love stories through the generations.
These sacred items, as with the antique jewelry Claire wore, had witnessed tears of joy, first dances, and stolen kisses. During her reception, there was one special quiet moment when, surrounded by the antique furnishings within the historic Canfield Casino, Claire placed her hand upon her chest and took in the enormity of the emotions, lives, and rituals that had shaped the women who had come before her. “It’s the hand of love,” said Claire. “The dress shape shifts and transforms. It is one of those dresses that will stand the test of time because it’s classic - and it’s just got that jazz!” 30 | SARATOGA BRIDE | FALL/WINTER 2026

“It’s honestly hard to make your own choices when you’re planning a wedding because there are so many cooks in the kitchen,” said Sophie, “but if you can’t stop thinking about something - just risk it.” When Sophie opened the box, the dress looked sad and deflated but it fit remarkably well, she said. Investing in alterations from A Love Story By Angela’s Bridal in Troy, NY, she created tomorrow’s heirloom today, by adding volume, adjusting the bust and shoulders, perking up the back bow, and bustling the train in a very beautiful way. “This story is not done,” said Sophie. “This dress is crafted so well, and beautifully, and there’s so much life left in it, it would be a shame to let that go.” Paired with a regal embroidered veil from Saratoga Closet, it was perfection. Sophie said while internet shopping is trendy right now, she usually finds the best treasures in person. “When you have a vision, don’t settle. It’s out there, somewhere.” Flip the page to see Sophie & Nicholas' wedding details!

The moody lighting and striking shadows of a Northeast November are poetically fleeting. For a couple that loves old movies, the quiet drama of this time of year called out for a wedding day look that embraces the charm and restraint of an earlier time. Sophie Ward lives in Ballston Spa, NY, where antique stores and vintage shops abound with hidden treasures. Impressed by the quality and rich fabrics of these secondhand and vintage pieces, she has integrated many into her wardrobe. For her wedding, however, she wanted an enormous Princess Grace of Monaco - inspired ballgown. Sophie yearned for a dress with personality unlike anything she saw new. That’s when an Instagram listing caught her attention. “I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and that’s how I knew it was the one,” she said. This creamy, soft, raw silk 1950’s wedding gown, with its mid-length sleeves, banded waist, and beaded lace front panel had a quiet elegance, but it was a big risk to buy her wedding dress online from an Etsy shop, and some cautioned her against it.

Planning a Vintage Wedding
When I started planning my wedding in Saratoga Springs, I knew I wanted to do something different. Growing up in Saratoga, and learning about its rich fashion history, greatly influenced my vision, inspiring me to let the city itself become the foundation for our celebration. With our ceremony taking place in Congress Park — where visitors once gathered during Saratoga's Victorian and Gilded Age to promenade in their finest fashions—it only felt right to embrace the elegance, creativity, and theatrical style that once defined the city. I hope to create a wedding that feels like stepping into another era — not as a costume party, but as a celebration of fashion, history, and self-expression. I'm inviting my guests to embrace an avant-garde, Icons, "Outshine the Bride" dress code. It sounds unconventional, but that's exactly the point. We have so few occasions today that encourage us to dress with imagination, drama, and artistry. I want this wedding to be one of them. Whether it's vintage couture, sculptural silhouettes, dramatic hats, heirloom jewelry, opera gloves, embellished tailoring, or bold, unexpected fashion, every guest is encouraged to express themselves without holding back. The goal isn't to outdo the bride — it's to celebrate creativity and make fashion part of the experience. Finding my own look has become a vintage treasure hunt throughout the Capital Region. Rakish Vintage (@rakishvintage), located inside the Waverly Antique Warehouse in Ballston Spa, has been one of my favorite discoveries. Their thoughtfully curated collection includes ready-to-wear vintage, bridal gowns, and one-of-a-kind accessories that feel as though they were made for a celebration like this.

Treasures in Saratoga Springs has become one of my favorite weekly stops. Its ever-changing selection of vintage accessories and small bridal section tucked in the back make every visit worthwhile — I even found a part of my headpiece there and my flower girl dresses. For those looking to experiment with more theatrical fashion, The Costumer (@the.costumer, thecostumer.com) in Schenectady has been an incredible resource. Their collection of avant-garde rental pieces, period garments, and accessories proves that extraordinary wedding fashion doesn't have to be purchased new. Beyond their remarkable inventory, their customer service has been truly outstanding, making every visit feel like part of the creative process. Back in downtown Saratoga Springs, Leonie (@leonielabel) on Broadway is another wonderful stop for brides looking to incorporate tradition into a modern celebration. It's the perfect place to discover those meaningful finishing touches—something old, something borrowed, or something blue—that carry history, sentiment, and a story of their own. For me, this wedding is about more than what I wear. It's about creating an immersive experience where every guest becomes part of the story. I want Congress Park, for one late afternoon, to feel as though Saratoga's grand strolling era has returned — a celebration of beauty, individuality, and iconic style. As the sun sets, the celebration will continue with an evening soirée at Familiar Creature, where everyone can continue enjoying the incredible fashions they've so thoughtfully put together.
Vimana Vintage
In a world where we rarely have the opportunity to dress extravagantly simply for the joy of it, why not make a wedding the occasion? Saratoga Springs has always been a city where fashion and elegance flourished, and this is my way of bringing that spirit back — one vintage treasure, one remarkable outfit, and one unforgettable guest at a time.

Candlelit spa with amber mineral water!

The New Wave of Historic Wellness WRITTEN BY MEGIN POTTER | PHOTOS PROVIDED (UNLESS NOTED)
A
century before the naturally carbonated Lincoln Spring attracted President Roosevelt to Saratoga, politicians, dignitaries, and the wellto-do were flocking to bathe in Ballston Spa’s Sans Souci mineral spa.
This thriving resort community attracted affluent guests eager to sample these natural mineral spring waters, believed to have therapeutic value, at the grand Sans Souci Hotel, earning Ballston Spa its reputation as “America’s first watering place.” Today, the historic hospitality of this close-knit community is welcoming Medbery Spa & Wellness, a place where you can still bathe in stately elegance. “People think of the spa as a place to relax, unwind, and celebrate, but we also serve a client base who is looking for orthopedic treatments,” said owner Jennifer Comstock.
In Homage to an Earlier Era Built in 1804, at the center of what is now the village’s Business District, The Medbery building is one of this quaint village’s oldest structures, and was the setting for the1973 film, “The Way We Were” starring Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand. It houses The Medbery Inn and the Front Street Social Club, a speakeasy-style bar and restaurant. During a renovation in 2002, the building’s owners donated a portion of the property to the village fire department in exchange for use of the mineral spring water. A spa opened on the site, and the tradition of taking intoxicating mineral soaks was resurrected. Bubbling up from 690 feet underground, the village preserved the Sans Souci spring and erected a public drinking fountain at the neighboring Wiswall Park. 38 | SARATOGA BRIDE | FALL/WINTER 2026

For a powerful jolt of mood-boosting endorphins, invigorate your experience with contrast therapy by combining a trip to the sauna with a cold plunge. Offering massages, facials, waxing, and skincare in a welcoming atmosphere, Medbery Spa & Wellness encourages clients to think beyond the big day. “You think about your wedding hair and make-up, but healthy skin is the ultimate palette,” said Jennifer. “You should be thinking about it, not the week (or day of), but months before.”

Tomorrow’s Treasure... Today! WRITTEN BY MEGIN POTTER PHOTOS BY KOSINSKI PHOTOGRAPHY TABLE SETTINGS STYLED BY LMC EVENT PLANNING
For more than a century, the Kosinski family has held cameras in their hands. Their legacy is a door to the past. Their images, destined to make an impression on generations to come. Every photography session that Rafael Gonzalez books is shot with an eye towards the future. As an album-first wedding and portrait photographer, Raf adopts a refined approach, showcasing your special day while preserving the meaning behind each image. Growing up within the Kosinski Photography family, Raf was exposed to a constantly shifting technological landscape. Whether they were using a 1900’s Brownie camera, recording on Super 8 film, or with a VHS camcorder, generations of this family continued to take the same timeless approach. “Digital is fun, and safe, but having a physical photo album in your hands is special,” said Raf. “Today’s photos archive better than old negatives once did, so when you look at a picture, you can put it in the context of an era.” Launching his career as a landscape and scenery photographer, Raf developed a painterly approach that today, gives his portraiture a fine art feel. His photos are flooded with light, imbuing them with an ethereal beauty that seems to transcend time and space. 40 | SARATOGA BRIDE | FALL/WINTER 2026

Although he’s creating momentous images that speak to multiple generations, Raf’s positive, friendly nature makes him easy to work with. “When someone hires a wedding vendor, they’re often thinking of the final product, but I also want them to have an experience. For me, how they feel is the main point,” he said. Kosinski Photography doesn’t just take pictures however, they create keepsakes. “Having a consistent style is very important in an album because you need to be able to marry the photos taken in the beginning to those taken later in the day,” said Raf.

Creating Memories that Last a Lifetime WRITTEN BY MEGIN POTTER PHOTOS BY ABBY FILMS + PHOTO (UNLESS NOTED)
The magnificence of their grandfather’s 180 acres in Lake Luzerne, NY always enchanted Maria Leuci and her sister, Sara, when they were children. Two years ago, with the help of family and friends, they began building their dream wedding venue on these expansive grounds, and in August 2025, opened Sundance Ranch a place where romance runs wild. “We just loved the idea of sharing this space -where we were able to make so many childhood memories- with others, so they could also make memories here as they started their own lives together,” said Maria.
Lovingly Renovated, Meticulously Maintained Combining rustic charm with welcome convenience, Sundance Ranch’s lovingly renovated and climate-controlled white steel barn is a stylish setting for dinner and dancing the night away (on its refinished concrete floors). Here, the warmth of natural wood is accentuated by shimmering light from four large dimmable chandeliers and eight smaller ones. With electricity powering every corner, this open space remains remarkably flexible, allowing you to reconfigure its 23 farmhouse tables and 210 chairs any way you desire. A new serving kitchen was added, providing caterers easy access to the barn through large double doors. A new gas firepit, large covered patio, accessible restrooms, and flat lawn area make it a welcoming space for food trucks, games, and an outdoor cocktail hour. Ceremonies here are completely customizable, as there are two movable arbors and enough wooden benches to seat 210 outdoors at Sundance Ranch.
With Room to Relax The grounds too, are a photographer’s fantasy, with acres of trails, a small pond, and beautifully landscaped areas at the front of a welcoming whitecolumned farmhouse. At opposite ends of the 6,500 sq. ft. home, his and hers bridal suites (each with access to their own private outdoor deck spaces) allow both wedding parties to get ready in style. While the upper level is flooded with natural light and all the amenities, downstairs, a covered porch, television, foosball table, huge kitchen, and intimate alcoves provide plenty of areas to hangout and relax, both indoors and out, on the big day. “Our goal is to make it as relaxing as possible,” said Maria. In addition to day-of coordination, Sundance Ranch offers a slew of their own décor for couples to use, including mismatched vintage China and champagne wall rentals. They also set up, tear-down and box-up everything so it’s ready and waiting for you upon your departure. Honeymoon Planning
Why Asia Might Be the Perfect Honeymoon WRITTEN BY STACIE BAXTER, HEBER TRAVEL PHOTOS PROVIDED
For years, the picture of the “perfect honeymoon” has looked fairly predictable: a beautiful beach, an all-inclusive resort, a couple of cocktails and a week spent doing as little as possible. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that honeymoon. More recently couples I speak with are looking for something different. They still want romance. They still want beautiful hotels, great food and time to relax. But they also want to experience something together. That is one of the reasons I think Asia deserves much more attention from honeymoon couples. A well-planned Asian honeymoon can include a private villa one day, an incredible food tour the next, ancient temples, tropical beaches, high-speed trains, spas, bustling cities and quiet resorts—all on the same trip. And unlike a trip where the resort itself is the destination, an Asian honeymoon can feel like the beginning of an adventure together.
Japan
For the Couple Who Wants to Experience Everything
Japan may not immediately come to mind when someone says “honeymoon,” but it probably should. Imagine beginning in Tokyo, exploring one of the world's most exciting cities, eating incredible food and looking out over the skyline at night. A few days later, you could be riding the bullet train to Kyoto, wandering through historic neighborhoods, visiting temples and gardens, participating in a tea ceremony or staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan. Then there are the experiences that turn the trip into something memorable: soaking in a private onsen, taking a Japanese cooking class together or simply getting intentionally lost on the streets of Kyoto.
JAPAN 46 | SARATOGA BRIDE | FALL/WINTER 2026
Japan also changes dramatically with the seasons. Spring brings its famous cherry blossoms, while autumn brings colorful foliage throughout places such as Kyoto. Cherry-blossom timing can vary considerably from year to year, so couples planning specifically around the blooms need some flexibility. Japan is especially appealing for couples who don't want to choose between luxury and exploration. You can have both. saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com

UBUD, BALI
PHUKET, THAILAND
Bali
The Classic Romantic Escape
If your vision of a honeymoon includes private pools, tropical surroundings, spa treatments and dinner overlooking an incredible landscape, Bali deserves a serious look. But Bali is much more interesting when you don't treat it simply as a beach destination. Ubud, for example, puts couples among rice terraces, jungle landscapes, Balinese culture, wellness experiences and intimate resorts. Private villas and pool accommodations are a major part of Bali's honeymoon appeal. From there, couples can combine the interior of the island with several nights closer to the coast. That's the type of honeymoon itinerary I like: don't make the couple choose. Give them some sightseeing and culture. Give them an incredible resort. Give them a day to explore. And give them another day when absolutely nothing is scheduled. Bali can provide that balance exceptionally well.
Your Honeymoon Doesn't Have to Look Like Everyone Else's The biggest advice I give couples is simple:
Don't plan the honeymoon you're supposed to take. Plan the honeymoon that fits the two of you. If your perfect day is sitting beside a private pool in Bali, do that.
Thailand
A Little Adventure, Then a Lot of Beach Thailand works beautifully for couples who want variety.
You might start with the energy, restaurants and nightlife of Bangkok before slowing things down in the islands. Phuket and Krabi offer tropical scenery, resorts and access to islands such as Ko Phi Phi, while private excursions can turn a traditional beach vacation into something much more personal. Another option is to add northern Thailand before heading south. That creates a honeymoon with very distinct chapters: city, culture and adventure followed by several days where the most difficult decision might be whether to visit the spa or the pool. That combination is important. One mistake I sometimes see couples make when planning a honeymoon is trying to fill every hour because they have traveled such a long distance. Your honeymoon doesn't have to become an endurance event. Plan the experiences you don't want to miss—but leave room to actually enjoy being newlyweds. saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com
If it's eating your way through Tokyo, do that. If it's taking a boat through Thailand, do that. And if your ideal honeymoon combines all of those ideas - adventure, culture, food and several days of doing absolutely nothing—that's possible too. For couples traveling from the Northeast, Asia obviously requires more travel time than many traditional honeymoon destinations. I generally view that as a reason to plan the trip carefully rather than a reason not to go. With the right itinerary, accommodation’s, transfers and pacing, the travel becomes part of a much bigger experience. Your wedding may last one day. Your honeymoon is your first opportunity to go somewhere, slow down and experience something completely new together. Why not make it somewhere you'll be talking about for the rest of your life? • OUR STORY • Ethan and I met in 2016. Between working together at the town beach and him being my cousin’s best friend, our paths crossed constantly before we actually became close. It wasn’t until that Memorial Day weekend where we really hit it off at my family party, he just so happened to be at. (wink wink) We then started hanging out - every chance we got - with each other and our mutual friends. We weren’t sure what was going to come of that summer fun but there we were 10 years later getting married in 2026. In December of 2024 he proposed at my mom’s house, in May of 2025 we bought our first home together (across the street from my mom’s house!) and in July of 2026 we got married at the most perfect venue… The Sablewood. Our wedding day was the most wonderful day ever and it truly was the best day of our lives! We owe all our thanks to our families and our vendors who made our day perfect and a huge Thank You! to Lisa and the staff at The Sablewood. It truly was the start to our Happily Ever After… My family became his and his family became mine.

AUGUST 22 • PAUL SAUNDERS PHOTOGRAPHY CEREMONY: ST. MARY'S / ST PAUL'S CHURCH RECEPTION: HILAND PARK COUNTRY CLUB
• OUR STORY • As high school sweethearts, we continued our love story through our college years before following our dream jobs to Florida. After ten years of dating, we got engaged, and we knew there was only one place we wanted to celebrate our wedding day - home, surrounded by the people we love most. Our parents planned so much of our special day, and it was truly magical. Rachael and everyone at Hiland Park Country Club went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, comfortable, and so loved throughout the entire day. Heather Baker at Paul Sanders Photography took the time to really get to know us and understand what was important to us. Because of that, she captured the most beautiful moments - not just the posed pictures, but the love, laughter and memories we shared, while surrounded by friends and family. Mike Rizzo from Rizzo’s florist absolutely knocked it out of the park. He took my vision and turned it into something even more beautiful than I could have imagined. I couldn't have asked for a better reflection of my love for flowers. Alex James, at DJ Motion was amazing. He read the crowd perfectly and kept the music going all night. He somehow managed to play something for everyone. He helped make the celebration so much fun. Our wedding day was everything we dreamed it would be and more. It was a beautiful reminder that no matter where life takes us, home will always be where are hearts and family are. saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com

• OUR STORY • Our love story began over a Thursday night game of cornhole. Jason grew up in South Glens Falls, NY, while I was raised on Long Island. After college, I spent a year living in downtown Saratoga. One evening, I went out for a drink with a friend and Jason happened to be out with some of his coworkers and friends. It was early and Tap and Barrel was fairly empty. With our two groups among the only people there, one of Jason's friends invited us to play cornhole with them. Jason and I found ourselves playing against each other and somewhere between friendly competition and conversation, we hit it off. We've been together ever since! Our first date was at Nine Maple giving us a true Caroline Street beginning! Soon after, I moved to Rhode Island for grad school. For two years we built our relationship around weekend visits, until I finished school and we moved in together in the Saratoga area. On a trip to Scotland, Jason proposed at the Botanical Gardens in Glasgow. When we started wedding planning, Hiland was the first-and-only venue we toured. We knew right away that it was the right spot for us. From there, our wedding became a true labor of love: late night Cricut projects, countless conversations with our amazing vendors and lots of help from family and friends. Every detail came together to create a day that felt unmistakenly ours!

COCKTAIL HOUR GAMES We had cornhole and champange pong outside during cocktial hour.
ADVICE TO PASS ALONG Do your research when selecting vendors. Choosing the right people and trusting their expertise can really bring your vision to life and make your day flow seamlessly. We didn't do speeches and opted to just say a thank you to our guests. We had a short ceremony and were on the dance floor before dinner was served. Nothing is stopping you from cherry picking the traditions you like and skipping any that do not feel right.

• OUR STORY • Jevin and I were friends in high school and shared the same social circle, but we drifted apart once he went off to college. In 2022, we met again on a dating app. Jevin immediately asked to meet and catch up and we had the most wonderful first date at an Italian restaurant. Neither of us were looking for a long-term commitment but while leaving my front door, Jevin said he could see us getting married. We spent the next few months learning more about each other as adults and moving Jevin into his first apartment. He asked me to stay the first night and I never really left. We became official in May 2022. We have spent the years watching horror movies, sharing a love for Halloween, reading fantasy novels and playing video/ board games with our friends. On December 27th, 2025, Jevin asked me to marry him in the most romantic way possible. He set up a scavenger hunt across the Capital Region to all my favorite spots including the movie theater, Prince Tea House, Barnes and Nobles and the Italian restaurant we had our first date, even though it is now closed. The penultimate location was our mutual friend’s house where all my closest friends were waiting with lots of champagne, an outfit, and makeup. They got me ready to head to the Saratoga Hilton where Jevin was waiting with our families and friends. I followed a white rose petal trail to Jevin in one of the banquet rooms. He gave a beautiful speech about reconnecting and us moving on to the next chapter in our lives (we are both readers). He got down on one knee with a tiny pink book ring box with the most gorgeous ring that I had pointed out in a jewelry store…three years earlier!! We had a beautiful wedding in Saratoga at The 408. Our ceremony and reception were held on September 10, 2026, then we spent the night on Carolina street. Our vendors were amazing! It was truly the best day for us.

• OUR STORY • John and I met our junior year of college at the University of Rhode Island. We both were in Greek Life, and he was a TA for a Greek leadership class I was taking that spring semester. We had started to run in similar circles earlier that year, after both being elected to leadership positions within our organizations. It's safe to say the rest is history after that. John famously asked me to be his girlfriend on our first date, the summer going into our senior year. Eight years later, we eventually made our way back to Rhode Island, where John proposed to me at our favorite beach bar, The Ocean Mist. As irritated as I was that he made me walk on the sand before meeting his family for "brunch,” I soon realized what was happening and it was truly the perfect proposal. Completely surprised by both of our entire families on the deck of the bar, we spent the rest of the day celebrating. As we started planning, we started considering upstate New York. John's parents and extended family live in Saratoga, and throughout the years we have spent much time up here. After visiting many venues, we found the Old Daley on Crooked Lake. It was the most beautiful venue we had seen, and we immediately knew it was the one! Family is the most important thing to us and getting to stay at Saint James Compound just minutes away from the Old Daley allowed us to have the family-filled weekend we had always wanted. Kayaking and swimming, the morning before the wedding - in the same lake that later was the backdrop to the best day of our lives - felt like a dream! We so appreciate all our vendors who made the day so special for us and our families. saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com

SPECIAL TOUCHES REHEARSAL DINNER St. James Compound (airbnb) A PERFECT MATCH We offered matches for cigars - and my dad is secretly great at doodling. We had him draw us a little doodle for the matches and they were a hit! John and I on a surf board, our little homage to Rhode Island :)
ADVICE TO PASS ALONG Really believing everything happens for a reason. My hair and makeup artist canceled two days before our wedding - which if you told me that 6 months ago - I would say it was my worst nightmare. But really it was the best thing that could have happened. We had the most relaxing and fun morning; so everything happens for a reason I guess :) However (!!), the last minute haircut & blow out I got by KT at Jena's Salon by Maggie in Clifton Park did help boost my spirits lol.

• OUR STORY • Jake and I met in 2017. Jake played hockey at RPI and they were playing a game at Cornell, which I was attending. Our first date was at Friendly’s in Troy, while I was home for Christmas. What started as a holiday ice-cream date quickly turned into a long-distance relationship! In 2018, I moved to NYC to begin my career at Goldman Sachs. Jake was at RPI, finishing his degree, then earning his master’s while coaching RPI hockey. We spent a lot of time traveling between NYC and upstate! In March 2020, I came home for a quick weekend trip to watch his hockey game — and stayed nearly a year when the world shut down due to COVID. In 2021, I returned to NYC, and we continued long-distance until Jake accepted a position with J.P. Morgan in 2022. Jake proposed during Memorial Day weekend 2024 at The Chateau on Lake George, completely surprising me! We wanted to get married in Saratoga, and when a September 2025 date became available at the Canfield Casino, we knew it was meant to be! Our wedding weekend began with a Friday welcome party at Siro’s for all our guests. We exchanged vows at the historic Bethesda Episcopal Church before celebrating at the Canfield Casino, with an after-party at Jacob & Anthony’s. We concluded with a Sunday brunch at the Adelphi. Our perfect weekend flew by--and we are so grateful we got to celebrate our love with the people we love!

SPECIAL TOUCHES REHEARSAL DINNER Siro's Restaurant
It was important to us that the entire wedding weekend felt inclusive, especially for our many guests traveling from out of town. We wanted the rehearsal celebration to introduce everyone to the history, elegance, and unique character of Saratoga Springs, and Siro’s felt like the perfect setting. As the quintessential Saratoga Race Course gathering spot, it captures so much of the city’s history and tradition—even with the track closed for the season—and gave our guests a true taste of Saratoga before the wedding day.
ADVICE TO PASS ALONG Focus on creating a day that reflects who you are as a couple. The little details matter, but what you'll remember most is being surrounded by your favorite people. Enjoy every second of the entire weekend (and planning process) — it goes by so fast! 74 | SARATOGA BRIDE | FALL/WINTER 2026

• OUR STORY • Brent and I met through some friends, downtown Saratoga in the summer of 2017. He’s from Long Island, moved back to the area for the second time and was just getting settled in. We remained friends for a year until we decided to go on a real date which landed us at Henry St Taproom finding out we had the same exact birthday when we handed our I.D.s to the bartender. Three years passed, we decided to go on to have two kids before having a true wedding to celebrate us. When we decided to start planning, we knew there was no where else to have our wedding other than Saratoga where it all began. We thought it would be so incredible to invite so many friends and family from out of town to show everything Saratoga has to offer. We were so excited when we found Anne’s Washington Inn as it felt like everything we wanted and more. The staff were beyond welcoming and helpful and Madeleine kept us all together every step of the way. We couldn’t have been happier with every vendor we chose as they truly brought our whole vision to life. From start to finish, the day was perfect and we always say we wish we could live it over and over again.

NOTES FROM THE VENUE Morgan and Brent were such a wonderful couple to work with. They found joy in all the little details, a hand-painted “Just Married” banner on the head table, custom table numbers, a beautiful favor display with a plant for each guest, and more. What we loved most was their refreshing perspective that having their children, family, and friends all together to celebrate their marriage was really the most important part of the day. One especially sweet moment during the ceremony came just before Morgan walked down the aisle. Their son’s voice played over the speakers saying, “Daddy, Mommy looks so beautiful!” It was a tearjerker for the whole crowd and such a special way to include their children in the ceremony. Following the recording, their son walked down the aisle while their toddler daughter was carried alongside the bridesmaids, just ahead of Morgan’s entrance. Their bridal party, friends, and family stayed in all 18 of our guest rooms for the weekend, giving them exclusive use of the property and plenty of extra time together. They enjoyed breakfasts and coffee on our wraparound porch each morning, along with latenight catch-ups and laughter around the fire pit and in the dining room. Their group was so much fun and kept the celebration going on the wedding night, heading downtown after the reception for an after-party back where Morgan and Brent’s story began. Staying on-site also made getting ready on the wedding day so easy, with everyone just steps away from the celebration. 78 | SARATOGA BRIDE | FALL/WINTER 2026

• OUR STORY • For all intents and purposes, Chris and I should not have met. He was an Eastern Long Island transplant living in The Berkshires and I was at my childhood home in the Capital Region, nursing my heart and my ego back to health from a recent breakup. As part of this nursing, I downloaded a dating app, with low expectations. One night, while watching The Bachelor with my mom (ironic, in retrospect), I matched with Chris, and we believe it was truly fate. Chris’s location was outside of my set dating radius, but he happened to be in town earlier that day, fulfilling his childhood dream of learning to fly helicopters at the Saratoga County Airport, and matched with me in the process. The day we agreed to meet up for our first official date, New York shut down. That’s right, we met in late March of 2020, right at the beginning of a worldwide pandemic. Rather than be deterred that we couldn’t meet for our first date in person, we hopped on a video call that lasted over four hours! We spoke on the phone every day for two months, and the day that travel restrictions lifted, I finally met Chris in person, and the rest, as they say, is history. Choosing The Saratoga Winery as our wedding venue was a natural choice for us. Having had dates there over the years, we knew the vibes were just what we wanted for our big day. We truly had the most amazing day and we are forever grateful!

SPECIAL TOUCHES REHEARSAL DINNER The Saratoga Winery BRIDAL SUITE The Adelphi Hotel DREAM VENUE The Saratoga Winery was an absolute dream! From our very first conversation, Annie understood my vision for our wedding day and went above and beyond to make it happen. Every step of the way, Annie and her staff made us feel special and heard. The entire Saratoga Winery staff was so warm and inviting throughout the entire wedding planning process. It is no secret that The Saratoga Winery is gorgeous, but it must be said that the staff really make it a uniquely special place. The food is also *chef's kiss* excellent. We could not have picked a better venue, or team, for our wedding day!
ADVICE TO PASS ALONG It's easy to get lost in the nitty gritty details of wedding planning, where you're so focused on something that completely stresses you out. It's important to take a step back and a deep breath throughout the planning process and remember why you are planning a wedding in the first place! It's about the love you share with your partner, and the commitment you are making with each other in front of your friends and family. The day truly goes by so fast. Take five minutes here and there throughout the wedding process and just hug your partner and reflect on why you guys want to enter this next chapter of your lives together. No one (except maybe that one eccentric aunt- you know the one, and you love her!) will remember what flowers were at table five, four years from now. What they will remember is the look of pure joy you two gave each other during your vows, the breathless laughter you shared after your first dance, and the stolen glances you both couldn't help sneaking throughout the evening as countless loved ones congratulated you on your special day.

• OUR STORY • When I moved from Arkansas to New York City, I was chasing new scenery, but not necessarily a relationship. Then I met Mike the first week after I moved. A couple of good pickup lines and a few unforgettable dates later, he had completely won me over. We built our life together in the city until the pandemic changed everything. With family in upstate and central New York, we packed up and moved to Saratoga Springs, a town we had both visited and quietly fallen in love with. If the pandemic proved anything, it was that we could get through anything together. The years that followed tested that again: a parent's illness, aging family, and more obstacles than we could have predicted. Through it all, Mike realized there was no reason to wait. He proposed at one of our favorite places in the world, Skaneateles Lake. From the start, we pictured a true New York fall wedding. We wanted to give the people we love a weekend worth traveling for, one that felt like us the moment they arrived. We kicked off the weekend with a welcome party at the home of my sister, the maid of honor. We called it "Open 'Mike' and Alison Night" where we brought the southern tradition of opening the floor to speeches the night before, so it feels less scary and takes the edge off (more time for eating, drinking, and dancing on wedding night)! The wedding evening opened with a deeply personal ceremony. In place of my dad, whom I lost at the beginning of the year, Mike did something far from traditional: he walked up to meet me, and we made our way down the aisle together. It is a moment I will carry with me forever. One of Mike's best friends from home officiated, and he had everyone laughing one minute and crying the next. He wove in personal stories and called out guests by name, so the whole crowd felt like part of it. As the sun set over the changing leaves, guests drifted into cocktail hour, then gathered for a candlelit dinner in the tent with layered vintage colorful touches. Food was one of the ways we wanted to tell our story. Chef Rick and his team created a station-style menu that brought our two worlds to the table: Southern comfort on one side, Italian classics on the other, and a meat-and-potatoes station to tie them together. Guests kept coming back for seconds, and even thirds. saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com

SPECIAL TOUCHES VINTAGE DETAILS This wedding was personal in all the best ways. The bride and her sister manage estate sales throughout Upstate New York, and in the months leading up to the wedding, they collected one-of-a-kind vintage lamps to incorporate throughout the celebration. Each piece added so much character and made the design feel completely their own. DESIGNED BY THE BRIDE As a graphic designer, the bride designed the entire stationery suite and all of the wedding-day paper details herself, carrying her vision through every little element of the weekend. A PARTY TO REMEMBER With the bride's Arkansas roots, guests traveled from near and far to Upstate New York to celebrate with them—and they certainly made the trip count. The dance floor stayed packed, the party never slowed down, and everyone was having so much fun that we completely forgot to cut the cake!
ADVICE TO PASS ALONG Make it feel like you! Thread pieces of your personalities throughout the entire weekend. Start with your stationery as a little preview of what's to come, then carry those details through the wedding day. Your guests want to see your personalities come to life — after all, they're there to celebrate the two of you! Then leave the rest to your planner!

• OUR STORY • Matt and I met in 2020 through a mutual friend. He was living with someone I worked with, and what started as casual after-work get-togethers soon turned into ski trips and weekends spent with a close-knit group of friends in South Boston, where I was living at the time. We spent the first year building a strong friendship before realizing there was something more between us. After several wonderful years of dating, Matt proposed beneath the Christmas tree in Boston Common. I immediately started planning the wedding and dreamed of nothing more than to tie the knot in my beautiful hometown, Saratoga Springs. It did not take much to convince Matt either, especially after a couple memorable track weekends experiencing everything this town had to offer. Our wedding day was everything we imagined and more, made possible by an incredible dream team of vendors who brought every detail to life as well as making the day so seamless and unforgettable.

• OUR STORY • Nick and I met at Syracuse University in January 2017, his junior year, my sophomore year. We started dating six months later and have been together ever since. Our post-grad journey was a test of distance. Nick moved to North Carolina, while I moved to NYC a year later. Next, Nick relocated to Stamford, CT, and during COVID, I temporarily moved back with my parents. Finally, in 2021, we landed in the same city, moving in together in NYC a year later in 2022. On July 4th weekend in 2024, Nick completely surprised me and proposed during what was supposed just be a picnic in Central Park. The excitement continued the next weekend at a friend’s wedding in St. Barths. Bad weather rerouted our flight home prompting me to call my mom: "Should I fly to Albany instead of back to NYC to look at wedding venues?" Since the airline covered the reroute, I took the leap. I had my heart set on Saratoga from before even getting engaged. Nick grew up there, his extended family was mainly in Vermont, and mine was in NJ/PA, while our friends were mostly in NYC. Beyond being the perfect middle ground, we wanted our guests to enjoy their time outside of wedding events, and Saratoga offers dining, shopping, and charm for our guests to enjoy all weekend. So, we changed our flights, and two weeks after our engagement, we toured Saratoga National Golf Club and fell in love immediately. They had only two Saturdays left for Fall 2025, and we snagged one immediately. Our wedding was the best night of our lives: a crisp fall day with peak foliage, our incredible friends & family, a filled dance floor, and flawless execution by Mazzone Hospitality and our amazing vendors.

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG At the reception, step back to the perimeter of the room for a moment with your partner to watch everyone celebrating and truly take in the love. • OUR STORY • Ashley and Ashtin’s story began in the spring of 2022 as coworkers, despite Ashtin’s reserved nature and firm “no dating coworkers” rule. Smitten and determined, Ashley nervously emailed him asking him to lunch—secretly hoping to discover if the feeling was mutual. One lunch became two, then three, and eventually their first real date: dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and a movie. Ashley left that first date knowing she had found her person. Ashtin’s realization came shortly after, during a guys’ trip, when he had his own “aha” moment: this was something special. Their love quickly grew into a life together. Ashley introduced Ashtin to her daughter, Avery, transforming “just the two of us” into a family of three. Then, on July 21, 2023, their family became four with the birth of their son, Ezra. Watching Ashtin embrace fatherhood only deepened Ashley’s love for him, while becoming a father gave Ashtin an entirely new appreciation for the life and love they had created together. Ashley had long joked to her closest friends, “I’m going to marry this man.” On March 21, 2024, while celebrating their second anniversary, her prediction came true when Ashtin asked, “Will you marry me, love?” On November 8, 2025, surrounded by those they love most, Ashley and Ashtin began their forever as husband and wife.

• OUR STORY • Garrett and I met in the most romantic way these days; on a dating app. I was in my senior year of college at Arizona State and Garrett had recently moved to Arizona for baseball training. On our first date Garrett picked me up at my college apartment, dressed in all black with a black car. Before saying hello or anything at all I decided to lead with “Wow, you look like you’re going to rob a bank.” and he still says it was love at first sight. Our relationship was meant to be from the beginning. We started dating two days before he left for nine months. Nine months where he couldn’t leave the team, was working 12+ hours a day and was travelling to a new city every few days. I think that’s part of what gave us such a strong foundation! I visited Garrett as much as I could during the 2023 MLB season and after we got our first home together in Scottsdale, Arizona, the same routine continued for the 2024 season but during the following off season… Garrett proposed! Knowing how fond I was of Saratoga in the Winter, we flew back to visit for Christmas. My family has a beloved tradition when getting our Christmas tree… we all decide which one, and then everyone cuts some of the tree. We picked our favorite and oddly Garrett liked a tree on the other side of the farm. I knew instantly what was happening and got so nervous I actually ran away! However, when I knelt to cut my part of the tree Garrett made his move and once I stood up, he was behind me with a very important question. After an obvious yes, he had set up a fire with champagne, charcuterie and hot cocoa on the farm. It was just magical. Once we were engaged, we headed back to Arizona to pack up our home and move for the 2025 season, this time I was with him full time, finally!! The season was a dream and perfectly closed a beautiful chapter. Garrett retired in June of 2025. We spent some time in California with his family (he hadn’t seen his family in the summer since 2017!) and then decided to make Saratoga home.

SPECIAL TOUCHES HELLO DEAR We made sure to include lots of special touches, like an Easter Egg Guide for guests that featured deer antlers — an element of our wedding crest inspired by our nickname for each other, 'Dear.' COCKTAIL HOUR Our cocktail hour bites we’re Asian inspired by our honeymoon destinations. GENERATIONS OF LOVE My pearls were my mom’s, from her and my dad’s wedding day. I surprised my mom with a dance to our special song – “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack. FIRST LOOK I did a first look with my dad - one of my favorite moments! ALL ABOUT THE DRESS My dress was strapless, with an overlay custom made by Kim Vanyo, who was AMAZING! LOVE & TIME Garrett’s wedding gift was a Patek Philippe watch from 1925 - 100 years before our wedding date!
ADVICE TO PASS ALONG Know that at the end of the day you are marrying your very favorite person and love of your life, that’s what matters. Otherwise lean in and accept the chaos because it will happen, but it makes for good stories!

• OUR STORY • Mark and I first connected online, then continued the conversation at K2 Brothers Brewery in Rochester, NY. The cozy atmosphere was perfect for our first date on November 17, 2021. We quickly discovered our shared love for adventures to different breweries and for sampling new craft beverages. At each stop that we went to together, we took home a sticker as a souvenir to remember the occasion. In the three years to follow, we moved to Glens Falls, NY. Our sticker collection continued to grow along with our love for one another. Bringing our story full circle, on November 16, 2024, we made the trip back to Rochester to visit with family and friends. While there, we returned to K2 Brothers Brewery, but this time, by the time we left, we were engaged! One day, while cruising out on Lake George, we spotted the beautifully renovated 19th-century Fort William Henry Carriage House. I just knew that was where I wanted to get married. It is a beautiful venue with a perfect view. I always wanted to be a December bride and on December 6, 2025, we had a dream wedding there on the beautiful snow-dusted shores of Lake George. The view, venue, and vendors were all wonderful, but what made the day really special was having all our family and friends together in one place. It was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better day!

• OUR STORY • Jake and I met over a decade ago in the hallways of our high school. Jake went on to play football at Springfield College, and I went to the University of Connecticut. Only about 45 minutes apart, we always found our way back to one another! Over the years, we lived both together and apart, with our careers taking us from Saratoga to Boston, to Westchester, and eventually back to Saratoga. Jake proposed on a September day in 2024 (the day before my birthday!) against the stunning backdrop of Yaddo Gardens in Saratoga, a place that holds special meaning to his family. While we never initially considered a winter wedding, the idea of a New Year’s Eve wedding totally won us over, and it was the best decision ever! We were able to celebrate our marriage surrounded by family and friends while ringing in the New Year with our favorite people. It even snowed the perfect amount…just enough to make the whole scene feel magical. It was truly a day we will never forget!

• OUR STORY • I grew up knowing Seamus as my best friend’s brother. But it wasn't until after college - and after us building careers and growing up - that something felt right for us to connect. When we did, it was like everything fell into place perfectly. As if we had been together forever. …So when he proposed only six months later (!!) it felt absolutely perfect and it was the easiest “Yes!” ever. We had never experienced happiness like we had when we were together and it felt like everything clicked. Our wedding day was a perfect depiction of that. And a day we still talk about now.

Chris and I met on Match.com. I'm still unsure of how he found me since he was hundreds of miles away in New Hampshire, and I, living in Ballston Spa at the time, listed my profile to only search for eligible men in a 25-mile radius. But his opening line caught me hook, line, and sinker, so I quickly got off match and we began a long-distance relationship. Chris is an avid fisherman with a great sense of humor, so fishing puns are a must. After 6 months of dating, Chris moved to Florida to start a business with his dad, secretly hoping that I would move there with him. Since I really loved my job at Saratoga TODAY, I was anchored, much to his dismay. We stayed together and soon after he moved to Ballston Spa so we could finally be together. In June of 2021 we decided to get married. We planned the whole thing in 3 months. With a few years of designing these bridal magazines, I was well equipped to dream up our wedding plans. Thanks to this awesome bridal resource, I knew exactly what to do and who to call, and I was able to implement some of those fantastic and unique ideas. Our wedding was so much fun and was like a grand family reunion after almost 2 years of not seeing anyone! Saratoga was the perfect place to get married, with many things for our guests to do. We couldn't be a happier married couple!

Our Story... GOWN BlissGown LOCATION Moon's Lake House PHOTOGRAPHER Gabrielle Galarneau of Gabrielle Eve Photography
saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com
Billy and I originally met at SPAC at a DMB concert through mutual friends. The summers that followed were filled with bonfires, concerts, art and drawing collaborations with each other. We remained friends from afar after I left Saratoga to attend college in Burlington, VT and Billy went on to pursue his tattooing career. It wasn't until in 2017, after I had moved back, that we reconnected at Desperate Annie's in downtown Saratoga. That night, both of us were on separate dates but were so excited to see one another that we spent the rest of the evening ignoring everyone else in the room to catch up... and the rest is history. When we began planning our wedding day - since I grew up on Saratoga Lake, and Billy spent his youth on Sacandaga - their was a immediate pull to have a lakefront wedding (and what better way to show off this beautiful location to out-of-town friends and family!) The first time we toured Moon's Lake House, we knew that it was the spot for our special day - it was just so US! We spent that summer devising our DIY plan, thrifting decor and finalizing details. When they say "it takes a village" sometimes it really does - and we are so fortunate to have so many brilliant people in our lives that contributed their talents to the party of the year - from the flowers to the food!
