Welcome to Beef ‘24
Rockhampton Beef has been good to us. From modest beginnings in 2009, exhibiting three Simbrah bulls, we have proudly presented our cattle for display at each Beef event since this time. The trip from South Australia is a significant undertaking, however, we strongly believe Beef provides us a unique opportunity to present our cattle to both a national, and international audience. Additionally, we are able to spend time with valued friends, and make new connections.
Beef 2021, following Classic Wallabies and the Beef Barbarians match
In 2021, we were both delighted and humbled by the results of the Rocky Red Sale. With a top of $26,000 for Savannah Quarterback Q077, cows reaching $19,000 for Savannah Miss Zoe P017, and heifers topping at $15,500. We have been thrilled to see the progress of these cattle for their purchasers, including both commercial and showing success. This sale result was at the beginning of the significant price rise within the Beef industry, conditions we all recognised could not be sustained. We believe the cattle we have selected can sustain the fluctuations we all expect in the cattle industry. This includes cattle wtih longevity, maternal productivty and outstanding growth. The cattle we have selected have a commercial focus, which ensures cattle are functional and productive in a variety of seasonal conditions.
The females we have selected represent the heart of our herd. They have exceptional calves at foot, which have been selected for the opportunity they offer the purchaser. These calves may be your next herd sire, or females that will create a foundation for a herd. All cattle are DNA tested, and Estimated Progeny Differences are available for all cattle (including calves at foot) as a further tool to support buyers in their purchase.
We are pleased to present a small selection of Simbrah cattle in the Rocky Red Sale this year. We have been passionate about Simbrah cattle since the beginning of our stud, in 2007. We strongly believe that Simbrahs have an important place in the beef industry for their do-ability, longevity and weight gains. The Simbrahs we have presented are true to the type we like to produce – stylish, structurally correct and with impressive carcass attributes.
The past couple of years, have once again allowed us to travel with our cattle and have many memorable experiences. In 2023, Keira exhibited her own Simmental and Simbrah cattle at both the Simmental Australia Beefing up the Next Generation Camp in Pittsworth, QLD and the Brangus Youth Camp in Theodore, QLD. Keira offers her first heifer for sale at Lot 14, as she continues to strive to develop her Savannah-K Simmental stud.
In addition to our Rocky Red Cattle, we will also have cattle on display to represent our breeding program. We wish to extend a warm invite to everyone to attend our site to inspect our cattle.

Sale Details
The sale will be operated by GDL Rockhampton. Buyers are requested to register with the selling agent prior to the commencement of the sale and to display their registration number at the completion of the sale. The sale will be interfaced online with both StockLive (https://www.stocklive.com.au) and AuctionsPlus (www.auctionsplus.com.au). Please see information further in the catalogue for your selected online bidding service. The QR codes below take you directly to Savannah's Rocky Red site on each platform.

Cattle are sold exclusive of GST. Animals will become the responsibility of the purchasers at the conclusion of the sale. We strongly recommend insuring your cattle at the completion of the sale.
The sale will commence at 5.30pm (QLD time) on Tuesday 7th May, 2024.
Transport
Cattle will need to remain on display at Savannah’s Rockhampton Beef site until 5pm Friday 10th May. Savannah is happy to assist with transport from Rockhampton Beef where possible. Freight subsidies will be offered for buyers of two or more lots. Please provide clear instructions on the Buyer’s Instruction form at the end of this catalogue.

DNA Testing
All cattle have been DNA tested for colour and poll status. All cattle have been 50K or 100K DNA tested and parent verified.
Registrations and Transfers
All cattle are registered with the Australian Simmental Breeders Association and are eligible for transfer. If transfer is required, please advise the vendor following the sale via the Buyer’s Instruction form at the end of this catalogue.
Terms and Conditions of Sale
GDL Rockhampton will be facilitating the sale by the open cry auction system. All lots will be governed by normal sale conditions, and all lots are sold under GDL Rockhampton usual terms and conditions of livestock auction sales. Cattle will be displayed in pens within the cattle site at Rockhampton Beef prior to, and during the auction. Although we do not anticipate any problems, please be aware you inspect the cattle at your own risk, and the vendor will take no responsibility for any accidents or injuries.
Rebate
A 4% rebate to outside agents that attend the event and settle within 7 days of the sale will be offered. Clients need to be introduced in writing no less than 24 hours prior to the commencement of the sale to GDL Rockhampton rockhampton@gdlrural.com.au.
Health
Cattle sell at a JBAS score of 6. All cattle are up to date with 7:1 vaccination, and have been drenched with Dectomax injectable. All sale cattle have tested negative for Pestivirus. Live lots have been tick blooded, and vaccinated for three day sickness. Cattle will be cleared to travel to clean areas.
Embryo Lots
The embryos offered for sale are IVF embryos which have been collected by Vytelle. All embryo lots sell as two embryos per lot. Savannah guarantee a 50% conception rate when implanted by an accredited technician.
Supplementary Information
All females will be pregnancy tested prior to the sale. Bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale.
Inspection
Cattle can be inspected at sites 066, 067 and 068 at Rockhampton Beef from Sunday 5th May. Cattle will be arriving in Queensland prior to the 5th May, and can be inspected by appointment at Theodore, QLD.
