INTERNATIONAL TRADE: GAINING GROUND

In 2022, the Export Team led by Beth Smith worked diligently to reinvigorate the SC SBDC’s international trade program, offer expanded services and significantly raise awareness of our capabilities. In total, the SC SBDC’s three NASBITE-certified consultants (Beth Smith, Ben Smith and Tom Lauria) and other network consultants, devoted 246 hours to helping 54 clients expand their exporting sales. The result: 18 clients entered new foreign SC SBDC client M.G. Suber and Associates, currently exporting to 54 countries, was named the SBA’s 2022 Exporter of the Year.

SC SBDC consultants Ben Calhoun and Jim Johnson are preparing to take the CGBP exam and become NASBITE-certified in 2023.

The Export Team conducted a five-part training series that attracted 61 attendees.

The SC SBDC currently has 330 clients that actively engage in exporting/importing activities.
