The church of Sant’Ivo Sapienza is a church located in Rome, Italy, and was built by Borromini from 1642-1660. Consisting of 6 main segments in the large dome, the interior of the design was left up to Borromini after being commisioned to finish it by Pope Urban VIII Barberini.
Decorated with bees, dragons, and the star of david, this religious triumph has an outstanding visual appearance found throughout the whole design with a luxurious and detailed finish from floor to ceiling. Borromini used alternating concaving and convex surfaces that merge together to create a unique and geometric shape that is breathtaking and transforms the space from an ordinary church into an architectural masrerpeice. 6. I chose to do a perspective drawing of the roof as it deeply captures how impressive this baroque design is and the non traditional use of shape shown throughout the design.
