FROM OLD TO NEW : 1.1.1 An Introduction to Room Layout
site analysis : AN INTRODUCTION TO ROOM LAYOUT
The bedroom was picked as the location/place since it is the most private space in the house and where I spend the majority of my time as a international student. The owner lived in this house for about 15 years and only do minor renovations once every ten years . therefore , the bedroom design is very basic and old - fashioned . According to owner holdings, Due to their preoccupation and lack of design experience, the owner did not design the room properly, especially since they did not hire an interior designer and simply bought basic items, resulting in unsuitable arrangements for the bed, closet, and storage area. Therefor, the change of situation will happen once in a while in the past. Average, but the level of human comfort is not high enough - pre-installed fixtures are insufficient - in keeping with the existing situation. The interior design is relatively simple because it is mostly utilized as a sleeping area with wardrobes. the room bathroom layout as well its quite simple the shower area and there is a mirror the bathroom ceiling is quite high and there is only one LED squire cut light

Figure 3 shows lux meter during the day
Based on the layout plan (Refer to Page 38 for Old Layout Plan), there are two double casement door window and which provide sufficient daylight during daytime, with approximately 250-300 lux (As shown in Figure 3/4). A pair of silk and sheer curtains are also installed to
As we enter in to the celling plan there are only one fluorescent tube light ( cool daylight ) above the study desk area and one wall Fluorescent lampbulb Light (worm white) Head located in the wall above the bed , a celling fan and a wall - mounted - air conditioner

, the wall-mounted air conditioner Panasonic is still function well but it It needs maintenance because water drips into the room it's been with the owner for for 10 years now is placed in this particular wall where it meets the bed from the side. (As shown in Figure 8 ) the, air-conditioner model which provides 1.5 horsepower. (As shown in Figure 8) the bathroom area has one LED ceiling square cut out (worm light ) as it (shown in figure 9,10,11) lastly the five-blades celling fan its not very strong, and it is short and the ceiling is high. The air hardly reaches the room

Dissatisfactory Issues Human comfort is the main consideration for the room as it is mainly housed for the clients' sleeping space. However, it is not well-achieved as mentioned earlier. There are a few problems to tackle in terms of aesthetic, comfort and convenience to meet the criteria of the space and the clients' needs.
1. BEDROOM LIGHTING 1EXOPSING CFLS WALL LIGHT BULB The first problem the customer faces in the room is safety. The wall light is too big for the glass fixture as shown in the picture, which is the light bulb hanging from the wall. Exposed bulbs can even burn the draw strings on porcelain fixtures, causing a fire if they fall onto other flammable items. Pull-chains that aren't flammable can carry heat into the fixture, overheat the electrical wires, and cause a fire if they come into touch with an exposed bulb. Also, the distribution of light is uncomfortable for the eye, very bright and falls directly above the bed, which causes inconvenience, especially at bedtime
FIGUER 16 wall lighting CFS worm light
2 STUDY LIGHT AREA CEILLING LIGHT FIGUER 17 lux
in the room ceiling There is one fluorescent tube light ( cool daylight ) above the study desk area , their is also a beam structure there in front of the Florent light which gives constraint for casting out the light ,therefore many shadows can be seen on the ceiling ( As shown in Figure 19 ) . However , it acts as a good night light as it does not affect the sleeping area . According to the Lux meter , the sleeping area would be 0 lux after switching on the circular ceiling light only . ( As shown in Figure 20)

3 GLARE SHADOW CASTING There are few things that bother the client more than bad lighting–in the bedroom especially when she working at a desk. When she drawing, the client annoyed when the shadows obscure the work surface (laptop) or, worse, the light casts a glare. It makes her irrationally angry. because she is an artist and a designer, she working during the morning her desk is beside the duple casement door window and the Blinds are not effective enough because there are tears in them and sunlight enters the desk (working area ) in an disturbing way also at night there is no Enough lighting from the florescent tube light in the low celling
FIGUER 20 example shows the sunlight on the desk area
4 BEDSIDE LIGHTING
FIGUER 21 windows with and the curtains
FIGUER 22 wall tube lighting worm light
First and foremost, the client has specific habits that must be addressed during the design process. She is an artist sometimes likes' to fast sketches on the bed also she is a big reader who enjoys reading a book before going to bed . However, beside her bed, there is no lamp or wall light. There is an expose light fixture CFL bulb (worm light ) above her bed in the wall beside the bed (as shown in Figure 17 ), but the fluorescent light bulb light is excessively bright, because its expose and It is larger than the glass fixture Based on the Lux meter , the brightness of the light fixture in the sleeping area at night is approximately 120 lux ( As shown in Figure ) , which is not suitable for eye comfort level , especially at sleeping time .
FIGUER 23 table without lighting
5 room vac air conditioner : At night , the client will experience a huge contradiction towards the air conditioner as the she will feel freezing cold nd sometimes hot . This is due to the air conditioner water lucking issue results in different air flow as the cold air blows directly facing towards the client sleeping side and if she change her sleeping position she feel hot . ( As shown in Figure 23 & Figure 24 ) ,there for , it occurred the client facing thermal comfort issues
FIGUER 24 shows the AC position
FIGUER 26 shows the AC Remot control
6 FAN
Nothing beats a ceiling fan on a warm summer night. The refreshing breeze is often enough to leave off the air conditioning. Not every ceiling fan has an attached light kit, but my client want one in the bedroom .. five- blades ceiling fan is still functioning but not very well because its serviced the owner of the house for more than 10 years ( As shown in Figure 26 & Figure 1.12 ) . The speed of the fan rotating is quite week the problem is the bedroom ceiling is quite high it conceded the duple size of the average or normal ceiling room and the fan its quite short which provides slow or week air flow to the room .The client cannot sit in the room without the air-conditioner because the fan does not deliver the air well, so the client feels hot and uses the air-conditioner even on the days when the temperature is not hot . also it is not aesthetic pleasing as it is just powder coated with black finishes .
FIGUER 28 shows the 5 blade fan
FIGUER 30 shows the 5 blade fan remote control
7 THE BATHROOM IS TOO DARK. The client is not comfortable with the current bathroom lighting, especially that the ceiling is very high and the bathroom has only one light on the ceiling ,(as it shown in figure 28) its not bright enough so it is dark, especially since the client likes to use the mirror in the bathroom to apply makeup, (as it shown in figure 29) Ideally, she wants the kind of light that shines directly on her face without A be disturbing to the eyes ,that's why the bathroom lighting is uncomfortable
FIGUER 31 shows the bathroom lighting (daylight)
FIGUER 32 lux meter in the bathroom when the light is closed
FIGUER 33 shows the bathroom mirror
HALL WAY LIGHT there is no lighting in the hall way between the bathroom and room entrance this area is dark especially when its night time this area is so dark its not safe when the cleint wants to go to the bathroom at night as it shown in the figure

1.2 Reintroducing Comfort 1.2.1 An Introduction to New RCP Plan The new room layout is mainly introducing the new changes / repositions in light fixtures , HVAC and ceiling fan ( Refer to Page for New Layout Plan ) Most of the furniture positions / basic activities are fixed as the clients are determined to remain their wardrobe and bed positions . Hence , the main priority is to achieve human comfort with taking into consideration the aesthetic aspects . Upon entering the room , we will have a built - on top of the wardrobe way up till the ceiling . . It is used for storage purposes and to save more space in the room and make it more neat since the client has many art tools . ( As shown in Figure 2.1 ) There is also shelf's been installed for extra storge and Aesthetic purpose
FIGUER 2.1 shows the new room layout
FIGUER 2.2 shows the storage cabinet on the wardrobe and storge shelfs
NEW ROOM LIGHTING in the new plan layout all the lighting is follow the light Layering technic ,the lighting sources is the best way to provide several functions The easiest way to have layered lighting is to use all three types of lighting 1general overall lighting. 2- task lighting for activities like reading 3- accent or mood lighting also light dimmer switches has been installed to all room lighting that will allow the client to change and control the lights' brightness, and set light levels for different activities at any time during the day and night, according to the client activity needs also to solve the glare issue since the client can control the level of light
FIGUER 2.3 light dimmer that been installed
FIGUER 2.4 shows light switches that been installed into the room
1 WARDROBE AND STUDY AREA CEILLING LIGHT (GENERAL OVERALL LIGHTING ) The ceiling height level in the wardrobe and study area is lower down to hide the beam structure for aesthetic and functional purpose . ( As shown in Figure 2.5 & Figure 2.6 ) The new addition of soffit frosted glass LED opple 6 Downlight , (worm Daylight ) as a replacement for the fluorescent tube light in the Wardrobe and study area . This light has a higher wattage compare to the previous fluorescent tube light , which gives more brightness to the area also the frosted glass led light to creating a more eye pleasing look and it removes the glare that may get, and it looks more beautiful from an aesthetic point of view. also light dimmer switches has been installed to the all room lighting that will allow the client to change and control the lights' brightness, and set light levels for different activities at any time during the day and night, according to the client activity needs
FIGUER 2.5 shows the new LED opal Downlight that been installed (warm light)
FIGUER 2.6 shows another perspective to the area been more bright
2 WALL LIGHT &(ACCENT OR MOOD LIGHTING ) as it mentioned above there is a wall light It was dangerous because the light bulb was bigger than the glass fixture and It was too bright in only one area. The light distribution was very uncomfortable so it has been replaced in the new layout plan to sconce light its cozy ,ambient and provides a pleasing illumination to the room., the wall sconce act as a type of art installation that will be at the same time, act as a decoration and provide Comfortable atmosphere and add an aesthetic touch to the room so the CFS (worm light bulb ) has been replaced to the LED bulb E27 400 lumen, globe opal warm white because Quality LED light bulbs last longer, are more durable, and offer comparable or better light quality than CFS bulb as it shows in ( figure 2.7)
( figure 2.7) shows the LED bulb E27 400 lumen, globe opal warm white give more brightness and cool ambiens look to the room
3 BED SIDED LIGHT (TASK LIGHT ) As mentioned above, the client likes to read and draw sketch's while she is on the bed before bedtime, so a side lighting lamp was placed to the bedside table so that it would be easy and comfortable for the client to practice her hobby. The switch for this light fixture is placed near the side table for easy accessibility also light dimmer switches has been installed to control the light amount that the client need as it shows in (figure 2.8 and 2.9) The textile shade provides a diffused and decorative light.E27 globe opal worm white has been installed
(figure 2.8 shows the Steel, Brush finish nickel-plated, Acrylic coating lamp )
(figure 2.9) shows the different activity the client can do when the lamp installed
4 TUABLE LAMP STUDY DESK (TASK LIGHT ) as it mentioned above the client works at late our of night in the desk area she needs more light so new work table lamp been installed for more sufficient lighting the client can easily direct the light where she want it because the lamp arm and head are adjustable LED bulb E27.been used as well in this table lamp The LED light source consumes up to 85% less energy and lasts 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. .also the curtains been change to new ones with UV protection to proviant the Excessive sunlight from the room and solve the glare isuee in the mooring as it shown in ( figure 2.10 and 2.11)
(figure 2.10 shows Steel, Epoxy/polyester powder coating, Paint table lamp
(figure 2.11 shows other perspective for the new Curtin and table lamp
5 HALL WAY LIGHT (GENERAL OVERALL LIGHTING) To achieve better human comfort ,as it mentioned above the hall way is dark there is no celling light in the old plan layout . ( Refer to Page of old plan layout ) Therefore , in the new plan downlights , Opple 6 " Slim Downlight been installed to the new plan ( As shown in Figure 2.12 ) are able to achieve a better comfort for the eyes and it offer the safety at night
(figure 2.12 shows the new Downlight in the hall way
7 BATHROOM CELLING LIGTING (GENERAL OVERALL LIGHTING) as it mention above the Bathroom lights are the worst. because the ceiling is so high there is no enough lighting since the light was not bright enough therefor in the new plan layout LED opple 6 Downlight , (worm Daylight ) as a replacement for the Square cut CFL light bulb because The LED bulb is as strong as the light from a traditional 35W incandescent bulb. also since the client likes to apply her makeup and skin routine in the bathroom mirror Wall lamp, been installed in the both size of the mirror this wall lamp illuminates the area around the mirror in a bedroom Perfect for placing on both sides of a mirror to get a good glare-free light as it shown in ( figuer 2.13 /2.14)
(figure 2.12 shows the new Downlight in bathroom celling
(figure 2.12 shows the new mirror wall lamp
8 HVAC : the old Panasonic wall air conditioner has been replaced with new Daikin inverter series 1.5 hp air conditioner to solve the issue of water leaking and thermal change during the night the client older air conditioner is parley working, it's pulling more energy, which can result in higher monthly bills. New air conditioning units are made to be energy efficient and can save as much as 20 to 40 percent on monthly energy bills. as it shown in ( figure 2.13 )
( figure 2.13 ) shows the new AC with the new ceiling fan has LED light with 3 different light mood the old five- blades ceiling fan is been replaced with DEKA CEILING FAN WITH LED LIGHT / REMOTE CONTROL V1 which is strong air force distributes the cool air from the air conditioner to all parts of the room evenly, as well as on moderate days, the fan can be relied upon without the air conditioner. The new fan also contains lighting, and because it is located in the middle of the room, it gives comfortable light and is well distributed throughout the room. Also, the old fan was consuming more energy than the new one, which caused the price of the monthly bill to rise, so the new fan saves energy and money ( figure 2.13 ) shows the new ceiling fan with the LED . the new ceiling fan coms with remote controller also it has 3 different light moods
( figure 2.13 ) shows the new AC with the new ceiling fan has LED light with 3 different light mood

Furthermore, the new air conditioner is quieter and more efficient than the old one since the DC inverter air conditioner rotates smoothly and the swing compressor reduces friction and vibration. It also inhibits refrigerant gas leaking during compression. These benefits help users to sleep more soundly and comfortably, which is essential for the client's demands because she is a light sleeper who cannot sleep during loud, jarring noises or interruptions. The client additionally suffers from chronic runny nose and sneezes anytime the air is dusty or cold. Thus, the air filtration system in this new air conditioner includes a Green Tea Filter that effectively catches airborne particles such as dust particles.

3D Airflow combines vertical and horizontal auto-swing to circulate cool air to every part of a room for uniform cooling of even large spaces. Both up-down flap and left-right flap will run in auto swing. creates a feeling of the natural wind instead of direct draft by combining 5 random swing patterns.

New Design 1 opt for each Downlights which cost about RM 0.47 per month, with its 12W power each. The total savings per month will be RM 2.42. On the other hand, New Design 2 opt for 1 ceiling fan-based LED which cost about RM 0.71 per month, with its 18W power The total savings per month for this design will be RM 1.05, which saves RM 0.23 (RM 1.05 - RM 0.82) more than New Design 1. To clarify, both new design 1 & 2 is implemented in the new layout plan. It is vital to have both light fixtures despite either one can light up the room This is due to the consideration of limited spare parts for the Deka LED Ceiling Fan. As the rapid advancement of technology,. it might be hard to find the original spare parts for the LED to fit in the ceiling fan. To avoid unforeseen circumstances, downlights play the important role as they are easier to find better replacement as they are less restricted in technical aspects.

SITE ANALYSIS : The selected site / space is the master bedroom area , which is separated into bedroom and bathroom( As shown in Figure ) . It is the most used area in the house for sleeping and getting ready to go out and study Most of the day is spent there The bedroom and the bathroom are separated in between with a wall which comes along with a wooden slide door This room is considered the hottest room in the house because it faces the setting sun. The window of the room is also large, so a large percentage of heat enters through it.

the right corner of the house would be facing West meaning that normally the heat will be distributed between wall 1 and wall 2. Wall 2 ,3 and 4 are actually parting walls so it is not directly exposed to the sun and the accumulated thermal conduction of these walls would be spread out to neighboring rooms wall 4 is neighboring the next house room . However , wall 1is the only external wall in my calculations .
heat transfer describes the flow of heat (thermal energy) due to temperature differences and the subsequent temperature distribution and changes. Heat transfers from hot to cold places through a series of process . The three processes for heat to move around are Conduction , Convection , Radiation . Thermal conduction is the transfer of internal energy by microscopic collisions of particles and movement of electrons within a service.so Conduction is manly transfer of heat through solid objects , such as the ceilings , walls , and floors of a home The direction of heat flow is from hot to cold. The higher the temperature difference, the higher the heat transfer (gain/loss) •The higher the resistance (thicker solid surface, higher R of material) the lower the heat transfer
3 types of heat transfer
3 types of heat transfer
Convection is the flow of heat by currents of air. Air currents are caused by pressure differences, stirring fans, and air density changes as it heats and cools. As air becomes heated, it becomes less dense and rises; as air cools, it becomes more dense and sinks Radiation is the movement of energy in waves from warm to cooler objects across empty spaces, such as radiant heat traveling from the inner panes of glass to outer panes in double-glazed windows in winter. Heat Gain & Loss Calculation Equation for Conduction
FORMULA:
R = F x ft x hr BTU where q = heat flow, Btu/hr A = area, ft2 R = resistance, ft2-hr-°F/Btu T = temperature differential, °F Higher temperature – Lower temperature
q = A * T R where TEMERATURE = FAHRENHEIT Area = ft Thickness = Inch Q = btu hr

wall 4 : west This wall ( As shown in Figure Figure ) is facing at the west and north West side . The wall is shared with the neighbors master bedroom area . To clarify , the temperature obtained for the exterior wall is an estimation based on the neighbor's status . The neighbor is small family consisted of mother, father and two children. Hence, this is their master bedroom where it is always or most of the time cold because they use the air conditioner all the time and do not open their window of the room , therefore the heat produced from the next door is relatively lesser .

SUMMRY :
In a summary, these detailed observations and calculations demonstrate the relationship between heat transfer between interior and exterior walls in order to achieve thermal comfort. comparing , the North - facing wall 1 has highest heat transfer rate among the 4 walls . Its heat transfer rate is highest (1850.89 Btu / hr ) at 5pm . This is heavily dependent on the facing and the surrounding context of the house .The area in which I live is residential and new, and there are no tall buildings around it that would block the sun’s shine or heat , so it is hot mostly all the time
PART 2 PASSIVE/ GREEN INSULATION PRODUCT
PART 2 PASSIVE/ GREEN INSULATION PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT 1 Problem Statement
The main problem, as shown in the picture, is the area. My family and I live in Cyber Jaya. It is considered a new residential area. It is beautiful, but the temperature in it is quite high, and there are no tall buildings to block the sun , so the master bed room is the room facing the sun at sunrise and sunset, and it is the warmest room In the house in particular, it contains large windows, so the amount of heat entering the room is high

outside view of the site
as it shown Wall 1 has the highest heat transfer rate among the 4 walls . Its heat transfer rate is highest (1850.89 Btu / hr ) at 5pm It brings excessive heat into the room, and strong glare which forces me to close the curtains and turn on artificial lights to see clearly. thus it receives most sunlight from the West in the afternoon.
The major issue is heat, as you can see in the image, because the old curtains were torn by the sun's heat, especially since they are light. This shows how much heat is transferred to the room and how the sun's heat affects the space and the materials. In the afternoons, it can be quite hot. I also don't have much privacy from the window, but I don't want to continually closing the curtains because I prefer to have natural light in the room. and in the master bed room there is no shelf on the wall for storge
old Curtin get torn because of the heat and sun
door window from out side
window from inside
There is a problem in storage, as there are no shelves. I can put my plants or hang anything in the walls because the owner does not want us to dig holes in the walls, so my design came to solve the three problems of heat absorption and shelves for hanging my plants and hanging notes as well as solving the privacy problem
the Maine three problems to be solve in the prototype : 1= high heat transfer to the room 2 = privacy when I want to open the curtains because its big window doors 3= storage
Introduction to Design/ Inspirational Ideas The design/ideation to address the problem indicated above focuses on creating thermal comfort while also meeting the criteria for a well-functioning panel that addresses the three Maine difficulties mentioned above. For my product design, I aim to solve those three issues and here are some sketch designs I had in mind: The first main concept for the design is to use panel shelves to block the sun and give privacy when open the Curtin and hold my stuff that I want to hang like my greeneries, since these greens are known for cooling and lowering the temperature of the environment Through the transpiration process In this case, the prototype , the selected materials, and the plants all serve and solve the heat problem .
idea explanation:
My idea is to make shelves that can be folded to be a panel to isolate the sun's rays as well as for privacy and to be a board for placing sticky notes and hanging keys, and also openable to be shelves to put my plants to cool the area and a place to store since I can't put shelves on the wall
2.3 prototype development , the next phase: the experimental phase is very important and prominent since it is here that all of the creative ideas and solutions begin to develop and become more accessible. After careful consideration, this phase has identified the exact materials that will be required or will be used in the prototype The first step to making a prototype after collecting ideas is to make drawings to clarify and assemble ideas and study how the model works and how to make it before drawing it in Sketchup to confirm the idea and make it from real materials
The second step was to make the idea and the prototype in the SketchUp program to confirm the idea and make sure of the mechanism that will work on it. and build it step by step
first step was to build the panels
the wood shelves
finalize the shelves and how it will open up and close by adding screws on each shelve
Because this prototype/model will be utilised on the widow and will face the sun directly , plywood is an essential material to choose. As a result, materials such as paper and cardboard are not suitable for resisting extreme weather, particularly in the rain. It is critical to paint a coating on it, such as varnish, to extend its lifespan and waterproof it.

Assembly The panels can be hooked to the window frame with S-hooks. Panels can be attached together by rope A complete set comes with: plywood shelfs +rope + s- hooks to hang + cork boards
MAINE MATERIALS USED IN THE PROTOTYPE : PLYWOOD : I mainly used plywood as the Maine material for the prototype plywood and it is by nature relatively good heat insulators. The natural fibers of wood are in themselves a hollow cell that provides a precise air space. Wood was also used because it is a sustainable material that withstands the heat of the weather and hot sunlight and does not tear or damaged . It is also flexible of indoor and outdoor use. It was used to block the sun’s rays when closed, it becomes a visor and sticky note board, and it is also open to transform shelves to put plants in Also one of the reasons for using wood is that it is a relatively light material that is easy to hang in the window or wardrobe, and it is suitable for my idea and what I want to make
CORK BOARD : Cork boards were used in the project for several reasons, the first of which was when the shelf was closed in the back side, the boards were placed as a board for hanging notes, keys and other light items, and the second reason was to enhance thermal insulation as cork is an excellent insulator with ideal thermal properties. Cork insulation is also moisture resistant, which makes it a suitable material to be combined with wood, as wood is a material that does not resist moisture well, and it is an environmentally friendly option because it is a renewable and recyclable resource.
ROPE : The rope was used to connect the wooden shelves to the plywood frame, especially when opening the shelf, as it needs support as the screw is not enough to carry the weight of the shelf when it is open The rope was also used to hang the prototype to the window where the first loop was connected to the prototype and the second loop was connected to the steel hook and suspended it to the window or the waterdrop The rope is a suitable durable material, as it is a light and durable material that can bear all weights without tearing.
Steel screw: Steel nails were used to tighten the wooden shelves with the wooden frame. The screw used is round and light, which makes it suitable for folding the shelf and opening it again. It is a strong material to withstand connecting wooden shelves THE R value of the prototype Maine material : plywood + cork boards + 1.25 + 0.05 = 1.3
BUILD THE PROTOTYPE The first stage is the most difficult stage for me, which is searching for a carpentry workshop, since I live in Cyberjaya, a residential area where there are no carpentry shops nearby, so I called many shops, but most of the shops were busy and no one could supply me with wood, but I finally found a local shop in KL that was nice enough to provide me with plywood
sunwood carpentry shop
wood panel cutting
I provided the worker with my required measurements and the MR foung cut the wood for me according to what I requested
The shop has all the tools required to work on wood of all kinds. he cut the wood in a smooth and clean way
Since I don't have a driller tool at home, I asked him to drill wood for me on all the required measurements
start to attach the wood shelfs to the panel with screws
the rope i used is ( 0.5cm x 3000m)
i used paint we have before in our house to pint the edges to give nicer look
some of the wholes where smaller than the rope so I tried expanded them
the hook s
put the rope so I can join the wood shelves
testing the hooks and see if it feet's the window frame and it was perfect for window frame
for the cork board I used soft one I couldn't find the brown onw so I cover it with black Fabrice for the look and the thermal reactance
cut the fabric to feet the bords size
i cut the cork board to the size needed
i hot glue the fabric with the the final step i hot glue the cork bords to secure it

reflection on making the prototype :
This process of making the prototype was really stressful and staffing at the same time. I faced some difficulties in making it, especially the stage of searching for materials because I live in an area that is quite far from the places of the workshops. The process of searching for them was exhausting, but everything else went smoothly. I was able to do the prototype successfully so that it serves and solves my problems that I face in the room like heat, privacy and storage in the end the result was satisfactory for me and worth all the hard work

NAME : SARAH MOHAMED BINNABHAN ID: 0346977
TASK 1 (a): Site Selection & Qualitative D Incorporated Building Services 1 SITE ANALYSIS An Introduction to ART GALLERY Layout PROJECT INTRODUCTION IN This project will address the evaluation and testing the knowledge we gain through this module of interior building since and services, such as electrical, lighting, HVAC, water supply, and drainage, are applied for both form and function in a purpose-built interior space (design). and the design is based on IADIII Final Project SITE INTRODUCTION : The project site chosen is REX-KL The site is located in the heart of Downtown Kuala Lumpur, REXKL is a community & cultural hub that occupies a historical site of one of the first theatres in the country before founded in 1947.which is an old cinema.
REXKL OUTSIDE VIEW
REXKL LOCATION MAP REXKL EXPLODED VIEWS
What is required from us in IADIII is to renovate the functionality of the building ,and we required to choose only one floor from the building , and the chosen floor is the first floor, where it was a movie theater in the past. As mentioned above, the function of my design is to do visual art gallery that contains a lot of activities to give the artist and art lovers space to explore and space to express their creativity the place where will be held a lot of art and light activity such as : reception area coffee corner gallery art maze stage for live performance workshop interactive walls and neon lights
My design contains a lot of lighting, as it is an important part in highlighting the beauty and purpose of the place This is the chosen floor plan ( first floor The plan drawn below shows the chosen floor of the building, which is the first floor, as well as the selected lighting and water supply drainage system also the plan shows the activity which is the visual art exhibition.
The aesthetic of the gallery depends on Playing with lights levels in every space with lots of dim and neon lights are used based on the preference and the idea of the gallery design .the perspectives will show all the lights that is been using in the project it will review all the lighting used in the spaces and the as well as the HAVC system and the water supply , but to highlight that my space concept is an art and lighting exhibition that contains a lot of neon lights that are used only on certain occasions, so I will exclude them and show only the Maine and daily base used lighting of the place chosen

It provides visitors with a first impression from the drive to the reception and communicate. The right light and suitable indoor and outdoor luminaires are decisive factors for a pleasant atmosphere and a coherent overall appearance.
LED downlighting is the Maine light that been used in the entrance area and it is in the range of the required lux that will be mor descried in part 2B 200 lux – Entrance areas and lobbies require this level of light, LED lighting is considered the best because it saves energy and gives more light as well as long lasting. The materials used are all fire resistance. Black marble has been used for the floor

Ambient lighting is been used for creating warmth and depth in the area as well as illuminating a space without glare for successful coffee corner lighting i used LED solutions. There are a few reasons to choose LED fixtures for the area. For starters. LED offers the best in lumen output or brightness for a lower wattage of consumption which saves on utility costs also fire safety water sprinkler been added It is essential to ensure the safety of the place and visitors, as well as all materials used in the furniture are fire-resistant
3 RECPETION AREA :

TASK IB-1 : B1.1: Calculation for sizing an air-conditioner:
Size matters when you're buying a new air conditioner. Both oversized and undersized air conditioners are more expensive to run than properly sized systems, and they have a harder time cooling your home
Since the place is large and very wide, in order to obtain accurate calculations and facilitate understanding of the place, I divided the place into four Maine sections mentioned below. which are 1 bathroom AREA 2ENTRANCE + COFFE 3 reception + glary +workshop area 4 stage area
B1.1: Calculation for sizing an air-conditioner: 1 bathroom area
1 BATHROOM AREA AC SIZING
1. bathroom Area = Width x Length
bathroom area
8200 mm2 x 3950 mm2 = 32,390,000mm2 = 32.3900 m2 Btu/hr=Area x 700 = 32.3900 m2 x 700 =
22,673 Btu/hr
2. Occupants in the room (?) people x 500= (?)btu/hr 8 x 500 =4000 Btu/hr
348.64306 3. Estimated heat from equipment = Total Watts x 3.5 = (?) Btu/hr =16w + 16w + 3 w+ 3w + 3w +3w +3 w +3w + 5w +5w +5w +5w = 70 = so 70 watt x 3.5 = 245 Btu/hr 4. Calculate Total Btu/hr = 22,673 Btu/hr + 4000 Btu/hr +245 Btu/hr = 26,918 Btu/hr
5) To get air-conditioner sizing, we must divide Total heat ( Btu/hr) with 9800 Btu/hr5. Total heat (btu/hr) / 9800 Btu/hr = (?) hp = 27,401 / 9800 = 2.7 hp therefor the selection for the bathroom ac as followed calculation is daiken Ventilating Moisture Control Bathroom Ceiling Mounted Cassette

Descriptions Brilliant and bright colours come to you with the LED rigid bar. Clubs, bars, shops and stages are the ideal locations for this slender instrument. It is also the perfect device for interesting light creations in your own rooms. LEDs have a high performance, are very bright and shed a strong and intense light. This is naturally also true for the LED rigid bar. This is only a fraction of LED’s longevity, which can bring you approx. 50.000 hours of light. The LEDs in the LED rigid bar consume only little energy. Additionally, they dissipate only little heat. This is not only good for your energy balance, it is also good for the environment.

Task 1(c): Water Supply Network & Drainage of Bathroom
in the elevation above shows the W/C and plan their inlet and outlet and the corresponding water supply distribution
Inlet and outlet features allow water to flow into and out of features and also limit the rate at which water flows along and out of the system. There are many different designs and variations, including landscaped pipes, perforated pipes, weirs, orifices, vortex control devices and spillways. Most bathrooms require 5 water lines: a hot and cold line for both the bathtub/shower and the sink, and a cold water line for the toilet. Each fixture and house are different, so hire a pipefitter or plumber to run the lines for you if possible. The aim of a distribution network is to supply a community with the appropriate quantity and quality of water. There are four network types: dead end, gridiron, circular and radial systems
section above shows the sink inlet and outlet
Plumbing system means the water supply and distribution pipes; plumbing fixtures, faucets and traps; soil, waste and vent pipes; and water-treating or water-using equipment.
