Mayor Anthony disputed this assertion, stating that “actually, there weren’t any children at this private 21+ event. But of course, lying is totally on brand for you.” While the account correctly pointed out that individuals aged 15 and older were permitted to attend, the event’s organizer, the Santa Clarita Valley Democrats, released a statement clarifying that no individuals under the age of 18 were in attendance. Mayor Anthony reiterated this point during a City Council meeting and expressed his concern that the video’s circulation had led to city officials receiving “some of the most vile hate speech that I have ever seen.” Anthony encouraged those with concerns about his actions communicate with him participated in a tojoint onstage discussion directly via their email creative at kanthony@burbankca. exploring work, cultural gov. Landmark Sunset Strip bookstore Book Soup passes ownership to longtime customer Joel Sheldon hands off the West Hollywood literary staple to the Hoffman family alongside Pasadena’s Vroman’s. By Carlos Reyes Famed Sunset Strip bookstore Book Soup has officially entered a new era of ownership under the Hoffman family following a 17-year tenure by Joel Sheldon. The transition aligns with an ongoing ownership change at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena. Sheldon originally acquired Book Soup in 2009 from the estate of founder Glenn Goldman, who launched the West Hollywood shop in 1975. "After talking with Robert and his family, I knew we had found the right stewards," said Joel Sheldon. "They understand what makes this store special, and they're

committed to preserving that legacy while moving Book Soup forward for the West Hollywood community." Incoming owner Robert Hoffman first frequented the store as a child in the 1970s and maintained his connection as a customer throughout a 38-year career

in Washington, D.C. His family assumes control as the business approaches its 50th anniversary. Julia Cowlishaw, CEO of Book Soup, confirmed that daily operations, physical location, staffing, curation practices, and scheduled author events will remain

unchanged during the transition. The store’s management plans to host public meet-and-greet sessions with Hoffman in the coming months. Community members can submit inquiries and feedback regarding the transition to thenextchapter@ booksoup.com. Cowlishaw added, “Thank you for continuing to support us and keep us moving forward as a pillar of this community. We couldn't do it without you.”

Autopsy and toxicology report reveal Hayden Panettiere died from an accidental drug overdose A toxicology report confirms the actress had fentanyl and multiple prescription drugs in her system. By Carlos Reyes. Actress Hayden Panettiere died of an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and multiple prescription medications, according to a coroner’s report released by local authorities. Panettiere, 36, was discovered unresponsive inside a Greenville, South Carolina, apartment on August 16. Emergency personnel dispatched to the scene following a 1:51 p.m. call reporting a cardiac arrest administered life support measures, but she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. Toxicology results released by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office revealed a lethal combination of fentanyl, a drug used to manufacture fentanyl,

4-ANPP, the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam, also known as Xanax, the muscle relaxant methocarbamol, and the antipsychotic quetiapine in her system. Quetiapine is used to treat major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Investigating officers found blue pressed pills and a straw that tested positive for

fentanyl on a table inside the residence, along with a white powder concealed inside a sunglasses case in her luggage. Panettiere, who had recently completed a stay in a rehabilitation facility, was staying at the temporary residence with her on-and-off partner Brian Hickerson and his brother.

Best known for her starring roles in the television series "Heroes" and "Nashville," as well as the "Scream" film franchise, Panettiere had publicly discussed her past struggles with addiction throughout her career in the entertainment industry and came out as bisexual in 2025.

Los Angeles police shoot and kill armed stabbing suspect inside Bird Streets residence Police opened fire after encountering a man wielding a knife and threatening a second victim on Warbler Way. By Sarah Lin. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Force Investigation Division will investigate the actions of the officers who shot and killed an armed suspect inside a Bird Streets residence Saturday night, according to a press release from the LAPD. The incident began around 9:35 p.m. on Sept. 12, when uniformed LAPD Hollywood Division officers responded to a reported stabbing at a home on the 9300 block of Warbler Way, located in the Hollywood Hills West enclave above West Hollywood. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from stab wounds and requested a Los Angeles Fire Department rescue ambulance. While treating the

victim, officers learned the armed suspect was locked inside a bedroom with a second man. Additional units arrived to form an entry team to breach the room. As officers closed in, they saw the suspect wrestling over a knife with the second victim while threatening to kill him. When the suspect refused multiple

orders to drop the weapon, officers opened fire, striking him. Officers took the suspect into custody and rendered first aid until LAFD paramedics arrived. Paramedics pronounced the suspect dead at the scene. Investigators recovered a 13-inch kitchen knife with a 7½-inch blade from the bedroom.

Paramedics transported the initial stabbing victim to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition. The second victim and responding officers were uninjured. The department's Force Investigation Division is conducting a review of the fatal shooting.

Ian Schrager, Ed Scheetz score $116.5M refinancing for Public Hotel West Hollywood Driftwood Capital and Benefit Street Partners provided the bridge loan for the redeveloped former hotel. By Carlos Reyes. Hotel developers Ian Schrager and Ed Scheetz have obtained $116.5 million in bridge financing for their upcoming luxury concept along the Sunset Strip, as reported by Commercial Observer. Lenders Driftwood Capital and Benefit Street Partners supplied the debt package for the Public Hotel West Hollywood,

which is slated to open this month at the site previously occupied by The Standard. Commercial real estate brokerage Cushman & Wakefield arranged the transaction, with a team comprising Rob Rubano, JP LeVeque, and Joe Lieske handling negotiations.

The financing follows a comprehensive ground-up overhaul of the 137-room property at 8300 Sunset Blvd. Schrager and Scheetz purchased the real estate for $112.5 million in early 2023, roughly two years after The Standard permanently ceased operations.

In addition to fully redesigned guest rooms and suites, the redeveloped boutique property features newly constructed amenities, including a rooftop deck and a nightclub. The owners' concept for the hotel is “luxury for all”.

LAPD detectives and the family seek help solving four-year-old murder of West Hollywood chef Investigators believe James Henry Hall III was fatally shot in South Los Angeles simply for wearing red sneakers. By Sarah Lin. Detectives and grieving family members are renewing their call for public assistance four years after a West Hollywood chef was fatally shot in South Los Angeles, a killing investigators believe may have been triggered by the color of his shoes, as reported by ABC 7 Eyewitness News. James Henry Hall III, 40, was ambushed on June 14, 2022, outside his girlfriend's home on West 83rd Street near Figueroa Street. Hall, a chef at Lisa Vanderpump's West Hollywood restaurant Tom Tom, had just parked his car after picking up dinner when three men jumped out of an SUV down the block and fired roughly 30 rounds. Hall died at the scene, while his girlfriend escaped physical harm. According to Los Angeles Police Department Homicide Detective Dexter Navarro, the shooting occurred in territory claimed by the Hoover street gang. Hall was wearing red sneakers, a color tied to the rival Bloods gang, at the time of the attack. Both Navarro and Hall's mother,

Yvette Hall, emphasized that the victim had no gang affiliations. Authorities released an image of the suspects' vehicle, identified as a dark Infiniti SUV with chrome trim, but surveillance footage failed to capture the license plate. No arrests have been made, and the three gunmen remain at large. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact the LAPD at (877) LAPD-247.
