Singer D4vd faces trial for murder and dismemberment of 14-year-old girl
Judge holds David Anthony Burke without bail after five-day preliminary hearing details chilling Hollywood Hills case.
David Anthony Burke, also known as D4vd, has been ordered by a Superior Court judge to stand trial for the murder of 14-yearold Celeste Rivas Hernandez. After a fiveday preliminary hearing, the charges remain one count each of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. The dismembered and horribly decomposed body of the young girl was discovered in Burke’s Tesla after being abandoned by Burke for months on Bluebird Lane in the Hollywood Hills above West Hollywood. Prosecutors allege that the murder took place on April 23, 2025, and Rivas Hernandez’s remains were not
discovered until September 8, 2025, in the Tesla registered to Burke in a Hollywood tow yard, the day after what would have been the girl’s 15th birthday. The Los Angeles District Attorney has also filed additional charges against Burke, including special circumstance allegations of murder of a witness, murder for financial gain, and murder by means of lying in wait, as well as a special allegation that Burke personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a sharp instrument, to commit the crime. The prosecution produced a dozen witnesses to present evidence supporting the accusations against Burke and the case against him. Prosecutors believe that Rivas Hernandez’s threats to expose their relationship and destroy his lucrative music
career via text messages were the motives for the crime. Prosecutors allege that Burke lured Rivas Hernandez to his rental home in the Bird Streets by booking her a rideshare car from her parents’ home in Lake Elsinore. Rivas Hernandez was never seen alive again. Burke is accused of stabbing Rivas Hernandez to death and putting her body in a kid’s inflatable pool, where he dismembered her corpse with a chainsaw. He allegedly ordered multiple chainsaws, the inflatable pool, and a body bag using aliases to hide his identity. Blood evidence matching Rivas Hernandez was found in the garage of Burke’s rental property, and plastic fragments that matched the kiddie pool were found embedded in the girl’s remains.
Judge Charlaine Olmedo has ruled that Burke will be held without bail and has ordered an arraignment hearing for August 31. If convicted, Burke faces life in prison without the possibility of parole and the death penalty. Nathan Hochman, the LA County District Attorney, has said that he has not decided whether prosecutors will pursue the death penalty in this case. It is possible that the trial could begin within 60 days of the arraignment. Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman of the Major Crimes Division is prosecuting the case, which remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.

West Hollywood addresses resident safety fears over coyotes at stalled condo site
Residents report a surge in predator encounters across several Westside communities. By Carlos Reyes. The City of West Hollywood is pressing a property owner to address West Hollywood
coyote sightings tied to an idle construction site on North Spaulding Avenue following safety concerns from nearby residents. Coyote sightings have been a big concern on the Westside of Los Angeles in recent times, with multiple sightings of the predators in Culver City, Picfair Village, the Miracle Mile, Santa Monica, the Pacific Palisades, Mar Vista, and Marina del Rey in the last two weeks. The West Hollywood complaints center on a 19,500-square-foot property at 939949 N. Spaulding Ave., where work on a planned 22-unit condominium project
stalled in 2024. Building permits for the four-parcel lot have since expired, leaving the location unfinished.\ According to city officials, the Neighborhood and Business Safety Division has instructed the property owner’s representative to take immediate action. Because the lot is privately owned, the owner remains legally responsible for securing and maintaining the premises. The city is requiring the owner to retain a wildlife control operator specializing in humane, non-lethal management to evaluate the site and recommend corrective
steps. City policy follows a formal Coyote Management and Coexistence Plan that prioritizes non-lethal strategies. West Hollywood is also coordinating with the Los Angeles County Agricultural Commissioner, the primary county agency responsible for tracking regional coyote activity. City officials said updates will be shared with the public as the property owner implements the required measures. West Hollywood design review panel evaluates plans for city’s tallest 34-story tower

Plans to construct West Hollywood’s tallest building reached a key milestone when developer CIM Group presented its 34-story mixed-use proposal to the city’s Design Review Subcommittee, as reported by Urbanize Los Angeles. Slated for the former Cemex industrial site at 1000 La Brea Ave., the 377-foot tower would house 514 studio, onebedroom, and two-bedroom apartments above 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a 676-space parking structure. Under environmental guidelines,
128 of the residential units will be set aside for affordable and workforce housing. Designed by Large Architecture, the modern high-rise features exterior cutouts and setbacks to accommodate outdoor garden terraces and private decks. Exterior plans incorporate glass railings, frosted windows, and wood-toned metal canopies, along with exterior billboard displays. City planning staff characterized the proposal as a contextually sensitive approach to urban density, noting that the building is split into two distinct volumes
to visually soften its massive profile. The tower’s height is structured to step down toward the north, coordinating visually with an adjacent hotel development also spearheaded by CIM Group. We spoke with the Emmy Award-winning executive producers Renata Lombardo and David Marker about the show, Schroeder’s return to reality TV, and what House of Stassi and Schroeder have in store for viewers. David Marker: I think when we first met with Stassi, we immediately saw that she was in a different place in her life from what we had seen on Vanderpump Rules when
she was in her 20s. We saw someone who went through a hard time, left Vanderpump Rules, and really rebuilt herself. She built a following on her own, released a couple of New York Times bestsellers, launched a hugely successful podcast, and basically rebuilt her career from nothing. As she told us, she was fired from 99 percent of the jobs she had when all of that went down. We were seeing a different woman who was now married with two children. It felt like there is a short list of reality stars you want to see a second act from, and she is one of them, just because of how dynamic she is on camera and how popular she was on Vanderpump Rules, whether you loved her or hated her. We saw that she was clearly in a different phase of her life and willing to sign up for a show with the people she loves most in the world: her husband, her sister, her business partner, and the godparents to her children. The stakes are inherently higher in a show like that, so she was ready to come back full force, and we thought that was really exciting. Dolores Quintana: On Vanderpump Rules, she was known for being very honest, but that came with a bluntness. It feels like that bluntness isn't what she wields anymore. There is still that honesty, but it’s tempered. That seems like something new that has really come out in her. David Marker: I think so. She is undeniably still as funny as she always was. The show has a lot of great drama, but it's also very funny, largely because of Stassi. But you're totally right, she's a mom of two

now, and she is more thoughtful about what she says, when she says it, and how she says it. You even see that during the more dramatic scenes. In real-time confrontations with someone she loves, you see her pause, rather than immediately react the way people were used to seeing her do on Vanderpump Rules. Renata Lombardo: When you keep watching, you'll see she is still going to tell it like it is. She’s had life experience and growth, but we all evolve based on what we've been exposed to while remaining who we are on the inside. She has matured, but she is very much a truth-teller who is not going to shy away from a conversation. That’s what you count on when someone is anchoring a show like this. Dolores Quintana: Since 2020, she has built up her personal brand with fit checks on TikTok and Instagram. In those, she shows a vulnerability that was rare to see on VPR. Aside from how she approaches truth, are we going to see different sides of who she is? David Marker: I think so. There's a vulnerability to her in this show that we didn't see on Vanderpump Rules. Back then, like most people in their 20s, she operated like she could do or say whatever she wanted without consequences. She is in a different phase of life now. When tough conversations happen, it's not just her going on the attack; we see real emotion and feeling from her when these relationships are tested. Renata Lombardo: Because there are real stakes in this season of her life and this season of the show. In the past, she was with friends and boyfriends, but now we're talking about her sister, her mom, her sister-in-law, her husband, her best friend, and her business partner. Going there on camera with them creates bigger stakes because whatever happens, there are real-
life repercussions. Putting your marriage on TV for the good, bad, and ugly means there's no denying it's real. She was ready for it and has done the work on herself. You're still going to get the stuff from Stassi Schroeder that we love, but it's a 2.0 version because of where she is in her life. Dolores Quintana: Her entrance back into reality TV started with Vanderpump Villa. How did you approach centering this new
show on her? She is really carrying the show in all respects; it's House of Stassi, not House of Beau. What do you think the show offers reality TV viewers today, and how did you structure it? David Marker: You're totally right. She is the center of our universe, and most of the stories tie back to her. As she mentions in episode one, this is a new world she created for herself after Vanderpump Rules, surrounded by a crew she hand-selected. The story we were really interested in telling this first season was Stassi as a representation of the female millennial breadwinner, someone who is successful individually and able to bring her husband, best friend, and former castmates into new projects. We explore the pressure that puts on her when the people around her are reliant on her, and she's trying to lift everyone up with her. She says in episode one that her goal is for her family to be like the Kardashians, with her as the Kris Jenner. That's a lot of pressure, and we see her deal
with it throughout the season. Renata Lombardo: Women of a certain age are having these conversations more than ever. So many women are the breadwinners in their relationships while their husbands play a supporting role at home with childcare. Seeing that dynamic represented on our show is going to resonate. I think a lot of women will see themselves in Stassi during this season of her life. Dolores Quintana: That’s very interesting, particularly regarding heterosexual marriages. There can be friction when men are raised with the expectation to be the breadwinner while women are relegated to specific roles. It sounds like that dynamic is being confronted and explored. David Marker: Definitely. Renata Lombardo: People are going to see themselves in Stassi and Beau's marriage. They are forced to deal with the issues that real-life couples face off-camera. Beau's journey of identity within this lifestyle will be relatable to male viewers in relationships where their wives are the breadwinners, and they are the primary childcare parents. It’s becoming a new normal for many people, and we don't see it highlighted enough. Dolores Quintana: It shows that it doesn't make you any less of a man if you're not the primary breadwinner. Renata Lombardo: Exactly. David Marker: Equally, it doesn't make you any less of a mom if you're out there hustling, working hard, and bringing in money for the family. It’s going to spark interesting conversations on both sides. Dolores Quintana: I understand that her best friend is part of the LGBTQ community. Renata Lombardo: Her best friend, Taylor Strecker, is a later-in-life lesbian who recognized that side of herself when she met her now-wife, Teddy, who is also on the show. This season, we see them navigate the decision to become parents and
prepare for an impending baby, exploring how that shifts their lives after being so career-focused. Taylor is a phenom and a force in her own right. She's a long-time radio host and podcaster, extremely funny, and very smart. People are going to fall in love with her and her relationship with her wife. They are great communicators, but they're also imperfect, and viewers will see that as well. David Marker: Stassi's sister is also bisexual. She divorced her husband and moved to LA to be closer to Stassi and Beau. Part of this season is watching her get back into the dating pool. It will mean dating women, men, and figuring out who she is as a young woman. Dolores Quintana: It sounds like a very female-centric show capturing different stages of life, from people figuring things out, to normalizing a new life phase, to Stassi, who has progressed past where she used to be. You have three or four distinct levels of female life progression. David Marker: Absolutely. What's also interesting about having Katie Maloney as part of this cast alongside Stassi, after spending so many years together on Vanderpump Rules, is how different their lives look now. Katie is in her own moment of figuring out what her next chapter looks like post-Vanderpump Rules. She is recently divorced, in a new relationship, and doesn't have kids, so it's interesting to see the two of them moving through their late 30s in very different ways. Dolores Quintana: I'm glad you mentioned Katie, because she is one of my favorites on Vanderpump Rules. I was drawn in during Scandoval, so I followed what went on, and I'm very happy to hear she's part of the show too. David Marker: It's a lot of fun, for sure.

Sunset Boulevard fully reopened late Friday night following a week of roundthe-clock emergency repairs triggered by a massive water main rupture at Holloway Drive, city officials announced. Crews from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) restored traffic flow along the iconic corridor at approximately 11 p.m. July 24, ending an
eight-day closure that mobilized roughly 250 utility personnel at peak operations. The July 16 pipe burst involved a 36inch transmission trunk line buried beneath the roadway. Despite the significant underground damage, LADWP confirmed that municipal drinking water supplies remained safe throughout the incident, and county authorities reported no injuries. Officials noted that the current asphalt surface is temporary. LADWP crews are scheduled to return in the coming weeks to complete permanent paving and street restoration, which will require intermittent lane reductions and sidewalk closures. The multi-agency recovery effort brought together emergency responders and utility teams from West Hollywood, the City of Los Angeles, and Los Angeles County.
