Another Local Retailer Surrounding Palisades Village Closes Its Doors
Simultaneously, a Series of Luxurious International Clothing Brands Have Set up Shop in the Outlet Mall
By Zach Armstrong
Within or around the high-end retail outlet of Palisades Village, four stores in three months have decided to mark their days of doing in-store operations.
Bellezza Exsuitie Lingerie, a luxurious intimate apparel store for women along Vía De La Paz, expects its interior to be completely packed up by the end of this week as it moves operations online. The Pacific Palisades location served as the company’s exclusive boutique. It sells a
wide array of lingerie, shapewear, lounge & sleepwear, and other accessories. This included bras as expensive as $110 and with an approximate price range between $20 and $160. Its online store is already live.
This adds to a tally of retail shops, either within the “Village” outdoor shopping center or in close proximity, that have closed or plan to close their doors since the midst of Summer. In late June, fine stationery and gift store Black Ink held its final day of in-store purchases. Owner and former CBS news producer Patti Black said of the closing that even after the Swarthmore Ave store had its biggest sales year, “it was just time.” Collection Antiques and Books along Antioch Street and pizza outpost Roco Pizza located within Palisades Village, also announced an end to operations this month with the ladder launching operations just five months prior.
Simultaneously, a series of luxurious international clothing brands have set up shop in the outlet mall including the

Palisadian Tenants Spar With New Building Management
Management
Workers Were Ordered to Remove the Complex’s Washing Machine
By Zach Armstrong
After tenants of a Pacific Palisades complex protested with two management workers over the removal of their communal washing machine, the workers proceeded to enter as per their work order. However, upon entering and seeing an 83-year-old tenant taking out the last of her clothes, the workers decided not to remove the amenity, according to a resident who reached out to Palisades News.
“The abrupt decision by the building’s new management has left many, especially the elderly, grappling with its implications. To further complicate matters, the closest
coin laundry is 7 miles away. For many residents, especially those reliant on public transportation, this translates to an hour-long bus journey.” said the resident via email.
When reached for comment, new property owner Kevin Sabin told Palisades News that the tenants had harassed workers from doing their job, adding that he provided tenants with a reduction in rent for a reduction in services compliant with Los Angeles Housing Department rules and regulations.
The resident who reached out to Palisades News acknowledged Sabin’s reduction, but said tenants are working with an investigator at LAHD over whether the reduction was an appropriate amount. LAHD has not immediately responded to Palisades News for comment.
On Sept. 5, four days after the initial incident, new property owners Sabin and Lance Zuckerbraun arrived with the same workers and successfully removed the machines, according to the resident.
Tenants say the situation is part of a battle with the new property owners.
Another tenant said he and his wife were
threatened with eviction if they didn’t remove the goldfish pond and shed/studio they built and paid for. According to the tenant, he was told by new property management that changes made to the yard were “not authorized”, though an estoppel certificate was signed with the approval of the previous landlord.
Sabin declined to comment on any further details or developments.
According to Redfin.com, the property located at 16458 W Sunset Blvd is a $2 million
adjacent to the Diptyque store and across the Bonjour Fete.
“We will still be offering the Palisades all the lingerie needs they have,” said Bellezza management in an email. “Also will be having pop up shops. Anyone who signs up for emails with us will receive an invite.”

Robert DeNiro’s Malibu Restaurant is Facing Multiple Sexual Harassment Lawsuits
The Dining Spot is Known for Being Popular Among Big Celebrities
By Zach Armstrong
Nobu Malibu, a luxurious Malibu dining spot known for being popular among big celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Travis Scott, is facing two sexual assault and harrassment lawsuits from former employees, as reported by LA Eater.
According to the outlet, a hostess filed a lawsuit alleging a former supervisor made inappropriate comments and touched the plaintiff while the restaurant provided little protection. The lawsuit describes Nobu as a hostile environment where hostesses are “encouraged to flirt with guests and brush off and ignore inappropriate interactions” and that female hostesses are encouraged
to “endure harassment from customers, allowing predators, internal and external, to feel emboldened in abusing hostesses without reproach.” The addressed supervisor in the lawsuit, Marcus, allegedly targeted the plaintiff immediately and tried contacting her personal cell phone, LA Eater reported.
Days after the first lawsuit, a second was filed by a hostess with similar claims. In the filing, Marcus asked the plaintiff to see photos of her and made a comment about her “smooth legs.” After complaining to management over a patron “flirting with her, as he licked his lips, saying that she was beautiful while he leered at and complimented her legs.”, a female supervisor allegedly said she could care less, LA eater reported.
The Japanese sushi dining spot is owned by actor Robert DeNiro along with renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Known for its scenic ocean views, entertainment and culture news site TimeOut recently named Nobu Malibu as the most exquisite waterfront dining establishments across the world.

Popular YouTube and TikTok User Satirizes Palisadian Mothers
The Videos Have Now Garnered at Least 200,000 Views Combined Between the Platforms
By Zach Armstrong
Viral videos on Tik Tok and YouTube by actress, model and popular internet content creator Amanda McCants satirize what she, and perhaps many others, consider to be the stereotypical Palisadian mother.
McCants’ impressive social media and internet presence boasts a Tik Tok account with nearly a million followers, a YouTube channel with half a million subscribers and an Instagram account with almost 400,000 followers. As an actress, she has appeared in films including Striptease (2019), Verified (2018) and Curse of the Siren (2016),
according to IMDB.
Her large audience is the result of humorous videos, such as her Sports Illustrated swimsuit competition submission video where she asks “I know what you’re thinking. Didn’t you already submit in 2018, 2019 and 2020? Yes! But what’s the difference this year? I finally got my trust fund,” she says before the camera zooms out to show expensive photo equipment.
Many of her videos parody the predictable actions or comments from a certain type of person. In two of her Tik Tok posts and one YouTube video, which have now garnered at least 200,000 views combined between the platforms, the parodied archetype is a “Palisades Mom”. They feature a series of soundbites one could expect from a Pali mother, such as “Oh my god I forgot to put on my 27 cartier bracelets. People are gonna think I’m poor!” or “After what Angeline told me at Angelini last night, let’s just say this: What happens on the yacht, stays on the yacht.” or “We live on Amalfi Street, so Amalfi Coast has a very special place in my heart.”
McCants has also satirized other mothers and women of Los Angeles County’s different
neighborhoods, such as those in Montecito, West Hollywood and Laguna. It isn’t clear if she herself is a Palisadian.
The YouTube video in reference, titled “I am a Palisades Mom”, can be viewed here: https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_XLj-JDa64.

Beloved Palisadian Book & Antique Shop Set to Close
It was known for a collection of rare finds
By Zach Armstrong
Collection Antiques and Books, a small shop holding a vast selection of classic and modern books ranging all genres at 15326 Antioch, is selling everything 50% off until its closing set for the end of September.
Owned by Jeff Ridgway, the store’s walls are covered with ceiling-reaching book shelves displaying a truly impressive collection. Among other items found in the store were antique clocks, a gramophone, an antique rotary dial
phone, busts and antique photographs.
The shop was a favorite among West L.A. bookworms, known for a stock of rare finds. On a personal note, as I searched for a copy of Ask the Dust by John Fante, a novel which greatly influenced the legendary Charles Bukowski, Jeff’s store was the only one selling a physical copy. It is now perhaps my favorite novel.
The closing of Collection comes around the same time another idiosyncratic Palisadian store already came to an end. Roco Pizza, a jewel-delivery style Pizza outpost founded by California Pizza Kitchen’s co-founder, closed its doors in recent weeks a mere five months after opening them. The dining spot was also located in the Palisades Village.

Palisades Comes off a Strong Victory Over St. Genevieve
By Zach Armstrong
The new season of high school football is looking up for the Pacific Palisades, with the Dolphins holding a strong 3-1 record coming off a victory over St. Genevieve.
That record ties Palisades with the Fairfax Lions for the top spot in the Western League standings. The trailing teams are Westchester (2-2), Hamilton (2-2), Venice (1-2) and University (1-2), according to MaxPreps.com. The Dolphins single loss this season was to Granada Hills Charter Highlanders, by a score of 26-10. They have so far defeated El Camino Real (29-0), Roosevelt (42-14) and St. Genevieve 35-10.
Senior quarterback Roman La scala has achieved a total of six touchdown passes and 642 passing yards so far this season. Wide receiver Braydon Sanford leads the team in receiving yards with 83.5, running back Teralle Watson leads rushing yards with 56 and touchdowns with four and middle linebacker Rowan Flynn leads tackles with seven.
After enjoying a bye week, the Dolphins will take on Brentwood School Eagles on Sept. 22. The team holds an even 2-2 record after losing by one point to Oak Park.
