Santa Gertrudis Australia is sad to learn of the passing of former president Rod Murchison.

Mr Murchison was president from August 1989 to August 1991 after serving as a councillor from 1978 where he was committed to the committees of Breed Development and Youth Activities, as well as the Executive.

He retired from the Council in 1994. In 1996, he was presented with Life Membership (Badge #18).

Mr Murchison's funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 9 at the Alston Chapel, Lincoln Grove Memorial Gardens, 35 Workshop Lane, Tamworth, NSW.

DPI Extension Officer Tim Emery has advised that places are still available for the Breeding EDGE workshop being held at Springsure on 911 September 2025.

The workshop comes with a large technical manual (10 modules), a workbook, and other tools (including electronic).

Day 1 is primarily about improving breeder performance and efficiency

Day 2 is about bulls and their management

Day 3 is about genetic improvement and tools to speed up genetic improvement
