American Heart Association Center Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR)

Learn the American Heart Association guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The two-year American Heart Association BLS Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Certification course will provide your healthcare provider card, which is good for two years. Leadership Academy Participants will engage in the 3 sessions below to learn supervisory skills, working with teams, supervisors and today’s leaders. Upon completion, participants will receive a supervisory academy certificate. Building Successful Teams (session 1)

The overall purpose of this session is to prepare participants to function productively on quality improvement teams. Participants explore the difference between work groups and teams and the characteristics of successful teams. In addition, the function of the team is discussed, as well as the roles of team members. Participants will also enhance their meeting skills, assertiveness, problem-solving techniques, and conflict management skills upon completion of the course.

Be the best supervisor you can be! Gain a better understanding of what your boss, peers and organization expect of you as a supervisor. Learn to plan, organize, communicate and monitor to select the most appropriate supervisory style for the situation. Eileen Parris Eileen Parris started her dance career at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in East Lansing, Michigan. She held several positions including Executive Assistant for the regional owner of several Michigan Fred Astaire Studios. She coordinated regional competitions and annual showcases as well as teaching and competing with students. Eileen transferred to the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Stuart, Florida. James Albury became the director of the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium at Santa Fe College in 2009. Albury was also a co-host with Dean Regas of the internationally syndicated PBS show “Star Gazers” (the world’s only weekly television program on naked-eye astronomy). Albury and Regas hosted the show together from October 2011 to November 2019. In February 2020, Albury launched his own astronomy series on YouTube titled “The Sky Above Us.” Each episode gives viewers a sneak peek at the celestial events, planets and constellations that are visible in the sky during the coming weeks. Outdoor Adventures Refund Policy For Outdoor Adventure Trips Consider your reservation for a trip/class carefully! All classes require preregistration. No refund for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour. You must call Adventure Outpost at least 2 days before the trip to discuss boat preference (canoe, kayak or tandem kayak.)

Meet Lars Andersen Lars Andersen is a full-time river guide for Adventure Outpost in High Springs, Florida. Each week, he leads 2-3 kayak and canoe tours on over 50 Florida waterways. He’s also a published author - Paynes Prairie: A History and Guide (Pineapple Press, Sarasota, FL. 2001 and 2004); The North Florida Adventure, an educational audio CD, (produced in 1988); Paddlers Guide to the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, co-edited with Sandy Huff. Intro To Birds and Birding

Whether you are a beginner or have some experience in bird watching, this field course will increase your knowledge of our feathered companions. We educate about all aspects of birds and the enjoyment of our avian friends. Island Hopping the Cedar Keys

Shore birds, dolphins, horseshoe crabs and a menagerie of plant and animal species make this a fascinating area to explore by kayak. Three hours of paddling may be tiring to some. Lost Springs of the Ocklawaha

This tour explores part of the “drawn down” reservoir and visits a couple of the 20+ springs it covers when full. We’ll also discuss the barge canal “folly” and some of the history, archaeology, and geology that make this one of the Ocklawaha’s most interesting sections. Marjorie Rawlings’ Cross Creek

Explore the wild realm made famous by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. The charming creek, beautiful lake vistas, and abundant wildlife remain little changed since the early to mid 1900’s, when Rawlings lived here and wrote such Florida classics as The Yearling and Cross Creek. Paynes Prairie History Hike

On this 2 to 3-mile walk-and-talk hike, author Lars Andersen describes 12,000 years of human history on Paynes Prairie, and the fascinating lore of some of the Prairie’s plant and animal species. Silver River: Naturalist’s Edit

This will be a slow-poking exploration, geared toward inquisitive paddlers more interested in learning wild lore than covering distance. Unlike our other paddle tour/classes, this one will only cover a couple of miles in total, allowing time to drift, observe and learn about the river’s plants, animals, archaeology, history and other wild lore. Wild Lore of Ichetucknee

This 3.5 mile kayak/canoe exploration of the upper lchetucknee River is characterized by beautiful limestone outcroppings, springs, excellent scenery and rich history, making it one of Florida‘s most famous rivers. For 14,000 yrs., these waters have quenched the thirst of Indians, Spanish missionaries and DeSoto’s conquistadors! Good for beginners.
