ORIENTATION CHECKLIST

Together we can successfully work towards enriching students at USD. This orientation checklist provides important information and resources efficiently at a glance.

Attend Orientation. This annual Fall event offers a great opportunity to meet new faculty and learn about available resources. Visit Human Resources Office (Maher 101). Complete required forms (Confidential Data, I9, and W-4). Campus Card Services Office (UC-127, X5999). Have your photo taken for your Torero ID card. Your ID card admits you to the classroom, athletic center, and computer labs. ITS Access. Complete the “Staff and Faculty User Registration Form” to access available technology (www.sandiego.edu/ITS/support/forms.php) Explore MySanDiego.edu, USD’s University Portal. Using your Banner ID to create your MySanDiego username/USD email address (USD Exchange). Once your paperwork at HR is completed, you will be able to create a portal user name and password. Many university resources are available on the portal. You will use it to check class rosters, learn critical deadlines, get information about internal grants, communicate with your classes, and submit grades. You can also purchase our parking permit and check your email, which ends in sandiego.edu, through the portal. Locate Your Class Information (schedule, class lists, buildings, etc.). Find your class schedule and class lists on the my.sandiego.edu portal. Verify Access to Classroom Computer. While a username is not required to log on to a USD classroom computer, the console requires a key to access the keyboard and projector. Textbook(s). Verify with the USD Torero Store that the required textbooks have been ordered for your course(s). The textbook list can be found from the course search. If you have any questions contact Michael Goodrich the USD Bookstore at X4551 Visit the Center for Educational Excellence (Camino Hall 1F). CEE offers assistance and counsel about teaching and learning through workshops, face-to-face consultation, email, and telephone. You can browse the CEE webpage for information on everything from assessment to flipping the classroom and classroom management. Policy and Procedures Manual. The USD Policy Manual is available online (http://www.sandiego.edu/legal/policies/). Post Course Materials Online. If you need assistance posting your course materials online or would like to learn more about Blackboard, the learning management system at USD, contact the iTeam at x7900 or iteam@sandiego.edu.
